  1. I have problems with my vision too. I think it's one of the many side effects of dysautonomia. It really freaks me out sometimes.
  2. I have taken metoprolol for tachicardia since 2005, I have lost a lot of hair, and have weight gain, does metaprolol cause this, and does anyone no of a beta blocker that does not cause hair loss and weight gain, and one that is covered by medicaid
  3. My hair has always been fine, but always had lots of it until I started taking lexapro and lopressor. Which medication do u think is causing the hair loss. Or is it dysautonomia itself causing it?
  4. Can a Dr. look at your gall bladder without giving you contrast?
  5. tremors were one of my first symptoms, along with difficulty swallowing and difficulty holding my head up
  6. I have auro w/out the migraine, and it freaks me out. All of a sudden my vision gets distorted, I see what looks like lightning, too hard to explain. After 20 minutes my vision goes back to normal.
  7. I have more desire now in my 30's then I did in my 20's. I take lexapro and lopressor. The Dr. said one of the side effects to lopressor was sexual desire. He must hav been right. lol
  8. i can't drink alcohol... makes my heart beat fast
  9. Funny you mention that Sue. When I eat high protein and less carbs I feel so much better. I am not saying I don't eat carbs at all. Just don't eat potatoes, pasta, dohnuts, or drink pop. I drink lots of vitamin water, eat protein bars if I am not hungry, put lots of salt on whatever I eat, and try to exercise a little with my recumbent bike. This all helps. And don't smoke. I use to smoke, and quit. Tried smoking the other day and I had major POTS symptoms. I also take a centrum vitamin everyday and calcium.
  10. For those of you who have been injected with iodine before a CAT scan.. What is it like? I am really scared about this dye being injected into me.
  11. My Mom gave me sudafed when I was a kid, and I thought I was gonna have a heart attack. My heart was beating so fast.
  12. Radha, I didn't have problems with my vision until being diagnosed with POTS. My vision is blurry sometimes, lights dim, floaters, I have seen flashes, and other weird things. I have been to an optometrist and opthomologist and they both said theres nothing wrong with my eyes. I assume POTS affects your vision.
  13. I have been having pain on my left side for 3 years. Now I am feeling pain on my right. I do not think it's my stomach or gallbladder. I think its IBS or something like that. They did an ultrasound of my gallbladder, and the scan came back negative. The Dr. suggested a hidal scan, but I said no. I do not want dyes injected into me. Atleast not iodine. He also suggested scoping me at both ends, but I do not think it's my stomach. The pain is more behind my rib cage. And I do not want to feel something going down my throat. I am letting them do the colonoscopy. I see the Dr. next Tuesday. Has anyone ever had this pain before? And what was it. Oh I forgot a symptom. I have diahreaha just about everyday. And can they do the hidal scan without injecting iodine? Can they use gandolinium instead. What do they do with them people who are allergic to idone? Not do the scan?
  14. Has anyone had pain on their left side behind their ribs? I have had this pain for 3 years now. I also have a feeling of fullness. The Dr. thinks I need a colonoscopy (spelling?) Had anyone had this procedure? And will the medication they give me while doing the procedure affect my POTS?
  15. I found this link, http://www.verybestbaking.com/products/tol...uct-recall.aspx , it does include sugar cookies. Do you think Subway gets there cookies from Nestle's. I have add a stomach virus before, but nothing like the other day. I thought I was going to die.
  16. No, I haven't heard about the nestle cookie dough recall. The last thing I had eaten was Subway. I had a tuna sub and a frosted sugar cookie.
  17. I have POTS and my blood pressure goes up whenI stand, and my heartbeat.
  18. I have not been able to fall a sleep the past few nights.. I have been in so much pain.. all over.. then this morning when I awoke.. I had severe diarrhea, then came the vomiting.. the late that after noon I went to the hospital.. immediately they gave me an IV I assume because of having POTS, and losing so much out of both ends.. They gave me some medicine through my IV, not sure what it was.. then zofran for nausea.. I felt a little better by the time I left.. I get home.. and have to lay still in bed.. I am in so much pain.. should have requested a pain shot.. does the stomach flu cause pain all over? Is anyone else sick. I called my best friend and she said two people called off work today because of the same thing. So be careful everyone.
  19. Besides the common sunburn, a sun poisoning rash can be caused by common drugs that have been ingested. Even the most harmless of medications can cause an otherwise skin healthy person to suffer a serious rash after only a bit of light exposure. Some medicines known to cause this issue include birth control pills, tranquilizers, blood pressure medications, tetracycline, and those used to control medical ailments such as diabetes. You can also develop a rash if you have contact with particular chemicals. Unfortunately many people don?t know these chemically based products are even capable of causing problems until it is too late. The simplest of items such as bar soaps, shampoo, cortisone creams, and even suntan lotions can cause an adverse reaction such as sun poisoning. Even natural products that use a fair amount of vegetables and fruits in lieu of chemically engineered ingredients can cause a problem. It has been shown that a large amount of the farming population has experienced a sun poisoning rash at one time or another.
  20. I have dysautonomia, and was prescribed lexapro and lopressor. The lopressor is for tachycardia, not sure how lexapro comes into play. My symptoms are less with there medications. But, I have gained 40 lbs since taking lexapro. I have tried to get off, but when I do my smptoms become more severe. I have tried other meds like celexa, wellbutrin, and who knows what else, and get side effects with them meds. Isn't there something else I can take for POTS, besides antidepressants that do not cause weight gain? I do not think I will be on lopressor alone. Not sure whats in my body that causes my heart to race, hands to shake, and other symptoms. Its like an adrenaline surge. I ned something to calm my nervous system. And not sure why I get tachycardia at night. Something must be going with my body during rest. And thats another thing, I can not slep at night. I lay in bed all night watching the hours go by. Then very tired during the day.
  21. I tried wellbutrin, and it made me sick. Not sure if this medication affects norepinephrine, but I have noticed, if I take an snri it makes my POTS worse. It's like I have to much norepinephrine in my body already. I wonder if to much norpinephrine being leased in the body can cause POTS. I just know I can't have anything that increases my heart rate, I already feel like I am having some sort of adrenaline surge already. But I am better on lexapro and lopresor.
  22. I do not take lexapro for psych issues. I was prescribed lexapro after being diagnosed with POTS. I am not sure how lexapro helps, but since taking lexapro and lopressor, I am so much better. However, I m not to fond of the weight gain. I have tried celexa, had scary weird side effects. And I tried paxil years ago, before I had POTS, at first I felt great, then I started getting headaches and woke it woke me up one night with a very fast heart rate, and I was very hot/sweating. I never took paxil again. Maybe it would work different on me now. And there must be something in lexapro that halps POTS, because when I try going off of it, I get my POTS symptoms back, just like I didin the beginning.
  23. This was my first symptom, and felt very ill when this was happening. I use to be afraid to go to sleep at night. Then I was diagnosed with POTS, and put on lopressor and lexapro. I do not get the tachycardia at night anymore.
  24. I have gained 40 lbs since taking lexapro. I have tried to get off of it several times. I get sick each time I do. I was very ill when I was diagnosed with dysautonomia, after being put on lopressor and lexapro, I felt better, alot better. Not sure if it was the lopressor that helped me or the lexapro. I know the lopressor works great for my tachycardia. If the lexapro helps, how does it help? I am thinking it depresses your nervous sytem. Is there other meds out there that will depress my nervous system without causing weight gain. I have tried other ssri/snri's, and thats another I do not get, I can take ssri's but if I snri's, they make my pots symptoms worse. Its like there is something being released in my body that causes an adrenal surge. This is how I felt before being put on meds. When people see pictures of me before the weight gain, they say I was beautiful. I do not get them comments now. The weight gain makes me feel bummed out.
