  1. It is a great idea - are you thinking short stories??
  2. OMG!!!! Hilarious! Hee hee hee No eyes.... but "previously knew how to drive".......
  3. The ANGER is what inspired me to write a book!
  4. I have 2 cats - they provide endless entertainment! Also the computer helps a LOT! Books on tape.... TV.
  5. My problem was originally found by a pulmonologist.... but he was also a board certified internist, ER, and family practice doc. Once he acertained I did not have a pulmonary emboli - causing the severe shortness of breath - he started looking elsewhere. I laid flat on the table for 10 minutes. He took my blood pressure and pulse while I was lying down. Next, he had me sit up and did the same thing. Next, he had me stand and again did the blood pressure and pulse. After he did the standing reading, he kept his fingers on my pulse and started explaining it to me - he said that as I was standing there he could feel my pulse get faster! At each stage, my B/P went down and my pulse went up..... Hope this helps!
  6. He says it doesn't hurt anymore. and it is looking fine. He is keeping the bandage changed.....
  7. Yesterday morning hubby went outside for a while - I had just given one of the kitties a bath and was sitting with her all cuddled up in a towel. Hubby runs in yelling he needed medical help... NOW!! I went to the kitchen and there he was, standing over the sink with blood dripping from his hand.... I was, at first, afraid he had got into his table saw. But no - he had been drilling a hole in a board, was holding with the left hand and holding the drill in the right hand - figuring, of course, that he would move the hand before the drill got all the way through.... but he miscalculated and drilled into his hand - with a wood bit! OK.... wood bit = a wide metal bit instead of a little round one - this one was 1/4" wide. So... here we are at the sink - blood running all over. I told him to let it bleed freely for a few minutes to let it get out any bacteria and wood chips that would. I finally applied some gentle pressure and got it bandaged, called our doctor - of course he had to go to the clinic - the doctor cleaned it up some more and told him that I would have to rebandage it because he couldn't do as good as I did... So, it happened to be the day for him to go to the neurologist anyway, so when we went to the neuro Hubby was telling him about it and he told Hubby that is a MAN thing.... the neuro's nurse told us that her brother had nailed his foot to the floor with a nail gun. Oh well!! The hand is better today....
  8. I, too, am stuned and saddened bt his death. He was not only a great environmentalist, but also such a loving husband and father. As a person who watches a lot of TV, I was a big fan of his shows. My son and I enjoyed him for many years. It is a big loss to the world.
  9. I use it. Not every day, but probably 2-3 times a week. Sometimes, though, I will use it twice a day for a week or so. When I go through a run of a HR of 180 and it won't slow down, it is the only thing that will give me back any semblance or normalcy - and I'm not talking about "normal" from before I got sick - I am talking about normal NOW. Beta blockers we tried. Before the pacemaker they would drop my HR down to the 30's - once down to 28 while on a Holter monitor. But now, after the pacemaker they make me so lethargic I literally cannot move. So, I use .25 Xanax. If this is what it takes to add some quality to my life then so be it. If I get addicted or dependant then so be it. Without the tools - and Xanax is a tool to me - to live with a little quality to my life than it isn't worth going on anyway. And, somedays, even with the tools I find little enough to hold onto.
  10. ....When your doctor of 10 years finds your blood pressure right away but the nurse can't even get a beat. ....You select furniture for 1) round corners and 2) arms of couch are high enough for you to get a good elevation with your feet. .... The anesthesiologist sees your name on the surgery schedule and asks you to arrive early for a central line.
  11. ...... When you are taken to the local high school to demonstrate what a drunk looks like walking around. The people at church is used to the lady in the back pew laying down through most of the sermon..... You carry 2 bottles of water to bed with you at night...... You salt your potato chips..... This is funny!!!!! Thanks, Persephone!!
  12. My GP was a High School science teacher before he went to med school.... he's a real gem!! Too bad they are SO hard to come by.

  17. Good luck! I hope it helps you a lot!
  18. Well, all those things considered, you might be ahead to go ahead and make the change. When we had to move 1300 miles because of my health (No medical care and no close by relatives or friends) it was very difficult but if we had waited any longer it would have been impossible.
  19. You might have to consider how much longer the children will be home. When we were looking at adding a room to our attic, we changed our minds because my son is 14. He has now decided to live with his dad anyway, so it would have really been a pain if we had gone to the effort and expense of doing the remodel then had no reason to. It sounds like you are comfortable where you are - except for the garden being too much. But, how bad would it be to move?? I know neither of us could handle (physically) making another move. We have 1 1/2 acres.... We have 5 goats - should I mail you one??? They are a big help with the mowing and they are cute besides!
  20. I decided that someone needed to give us with dysautoomia a voice so I started writing.... 2 years later I decidedIt was finished and found an online publisher that publishes on demand..... Not as bad as I thought and it did not cost me any money of my own... I only pay for the copies I buy for myself.
  21. Yes, Corina.... most of the photos are taken through the back window! I have to clean it regularly but that's not too bad!
  22. When we bought this house the very back wall was rotting out of the utility room. The house is made of rock but during the 1970's someone had added on the utility room; now the rain had run down the back wall and eventually rotted it out and the window was falling out. One morning, about a month after we moved in - I heard a pounding outside. I woke Hubby up and we investigated.... it was 3 people from church - they came to REPLACE the back wall! They completely tore out the entire wall and built a new one - complete with a 5 ft X 5 ft double-pane window! It is now not just a utility room - thye hung my birdfeeders from a tree there and I have since added a birdhouse - I have a couch and a recliner and a TV, plus my laptop lives there. I hang out in there, it is easy to do laundry (I got a stacked unit so I don't have to bend over to get to the clothes dryer) and I have a place of my own. So, I take pictures - through the window! Many of them are on the Chit-Chat side of this site. I watch TV. Some days I can't see well enough to do the computer or read. But I write when I can. I am working on a second book, and Hubby and I are working on a book about his plane crash and the aftermath.
  23. I have the blog for Dummies.... I just have a Yahoo! Blog....
