  1. I'm still waiting.... Dec 27th is THE day!
  2. Wednesday, December 27. A late Christmas present!
  3. Thanks, everyone! Well, my surgeon and PCP both are doctors I am very comfortable with - my PCP was picky that I got this surgeon instead of another one I knew because this one is better with laproscopic GB surgery - and now I have met him and actually gone throgh a procedure with him I agree.... He kept me in the procedure room instead of sending me out to recovery after the EGD so I could get extra fluids and be monitored by the 2 nurses that will be in with us when I have the surgery. So, I am going into this feeling really confident with my doctors.
  4. I have been afraid of them finding a bunch of adhesions since I have been having problems with this since (YIKES!) 1995... Motility has been a concern for me - I will be very vigilant.
  5. They told me I could have clear fluids up to 2 hours before surgery - and "chips and sips" in limited amounts after that... And the surgeon did say he wanted me in early to do some "fluid loading". I really like this surgeon.
  6. I know some others have had this - is there anything I need to beware of? The surgeon is very good and easy to talk to - I had an EGD yesterday. I had told the surgeon when I saw him in his office that I had really bad veins and IV's frequently have to go in my feet.... When I went into pre-op the nurse blew 2 veins in my arms and tld me that she wasn't allowed to use foot veins - and another nurse heard her and stuck her head around the door - "Oh, is that Gayla? Dr Wolfe said a foot vein is fine for her." - So, I know he listens and that is a big help! I am still worn out from the scope yesterday - but looking forward to getting the gallbladder out and hoping it will make me feel better! So, give - anything I need to be especially vigilant of?
  7. 1) Family practice Dr who told me I was depressed and that's ALL.... refused to even refer me elsewhere. 2) Pulmonologist I got into thanks to the fact I worked with the wife of an anesthesiologist and he thought I needed HELP! (He said Orthostatic intoleranc and I needed a TTT) 3) EP who called me a "Princess on a Pea" and told me it was all in my head.... 4) Neurologist (Doctor #1 was out to PROVE it was all in my head) he agreed with #1 that I was a nut case. 5) EP#1 had to do a TTT because the Pulmonologist pulled rank on her. 6) EP#2 who put in a pacemaker because I did not trust EP #1..... (TTT = NCS) 7) Trip to Vanderbilt. They could not help me but they Dx'd CFS besides the NMS.....
  8. How funny! Thank Teri for us - these are adorable! Is he loose in the house yet?
  9. Getting too tired does it to me every time, or if I am sick with a cold or something like that. Rest, salt, fluids, and Xanax if it is causing a lot of problems.
  10. I have SSS.... Before my pacemaker I would drop into the 30's, have pauses, jump into the 180's..... Throw PVC's... I still do everything except drop into the 30's - that's basically the only thing my pacemaker can control. I still jump into the 170-180 range and still throw a lot of PVC's - and I still have syncopal spells. Yes, I've been EP studied over and over - I am now tired of dealing with it, so I just live with it as best I can.
  11. Hubby just this week started it. The Dr is starting him very slowly - like 30 mg every other day for the first month then up to 30 mg per day then increasing if he tolerates that.... We are hoping it will help with his constant headaches from his head injury.
  12. Interestingly enough, I was hit with this in the spring after I took a "Death and Dying" class the previous fall while I was working on a degree in Social Work. So, about a year after I took the class I found myself bedridden, unable to watch TV or read or even listen to the radio and somewhere in my fogged brain I realized I was going through the stages of grieving - denial depression, grief.... So I really believe we need to go through a "mourning" process to "get to the other side", then I was able to start rebuilding with what I had to work with.
  13. Melissa! I hope you get the mean old fever gone soon! Hmmm..... is there a good looking doctor there or something????
  14. Doesn't Lucy need a friend?? Dozer is still looking for a "furrever" home.... But he doesn't seem to be worrying about it too much....
  15. 3:30 this morning..... I can't sleep... But when it finally cleared this little birdie came and posed for me!! Hector is convinced they were doing a show "just" for him... Dozer doesn't care - as long as he gets to dream of chasing the flying things! I thought the sparkly trees were pretty!
  16. I echo Sophia... It is almost impossible - despite what the guidelines say. Hubby - despite having MRI's showing parts of his brain MISSING due to a plane crash - still had to go to the ALJ level because he preaches most Sundays at a very small (30 people) church.
  17. I also have to have my 2 cups every morning or I am in trouble....
  18. Happy Birthday Sophia!! Sorry about the salad... they do me in too....
  19. Well, I have noticed in the past... it's kind of on and off - I, too, always blamed it on the autonomic thing. As Corina said - if we can't find a reason blame it on the POTS!
  20. So sorry... I know how frustrating it can be trying to explain things to a child. It seems that when you try to explain they get more scared than they were to begin with! Vent all you need.... So sorry you are feeling poorly again - it is SOOOO frustrating to think you are on an unswing then realize it was only a temporary stop.
  21. Yesterday during our church's Thanksgiving dinner I noticed everythig tasted alike. I could not taste any difference between the ham and turkey - I could not even taste spice cake! I have noticed this before - anyone else?
  22. I do.... I cannot take abortives since they throw me into more of an arrythmia that I already have. I also take xanax for the tachy.... I went into the ER once in 2003 with the migraine from **** - they looked at my med list and since xanax was listed they gave me Nubain. They might as well have given me a shot of saline! It did NOTHING. I was still moaning in pain and throwing up and I heard the doctor (2 hours later) tell a nurse that I was just a drug seeker.... Dry heaves and with a 10 pain! Nubain doing nothing and the nurse finally told me I had to leave because they needed the room. I refused to leave without at least some Phenergan. I held on until a different doctor came on duty - the nurse came in and actually THREW a ziploc bag with 4 - 25 mg phenergan suppositories in it at me. On the way out of the hospital I stopped and used 3 of them. By the time I got home I was at least knocked out from the Phenergan. The next day I called my doctor and he called in prescriptions of Vicodin and Phenergan - with refills! I cannot take any kind of NSAID so vicodin is it for a pain pill.
