  1. Remember "REMARKABLE WOMEN Do REMARKABlE THINGS"!!!!!!![/i have no doubt that you will finish your training, and be a medical social worker. finding the correct balance is the key. And keys come in all shapes and sizes. The best Miriam 25 years to complete my degree at PSU. I had children, jobs etc.....Had not taken so many interesting classes I would have been done much sooner.
  2. Kite, Cam you tell me more about the power plate. So glad that your move went smoothly. Take care Miriam
  3. I'll be 50 on the 28th. I was referred to a psychiatrist for meds. I had difficulty finding one in my area. I was referred to a Dr. Called, his nurse said that they only see people 60 or older. I explained my situation to her. She scheduled me for Nov. She asked me to bring my neuro-psch test results and I asked if I should bring info on POTS? She said no that having so many people over 60 these doctors know about dysautonomias as they are so prevalent!!!!!! Will let you know. Miriam
  4. I have the handles in my shower to hold on to . I use them to orient myself that helps alot. Miriam
  5. When I get mine its usually 3-4 bags at a time. Then I'm good to go for a while. I also eat and drink when geting it. I know I am getting hydrated when I have to pee. Miriam
  6. I had my hearing the7th. My attorney said it takes 4-6 months to hear. So I am playing the waiting game. The vocational expert actually could come up with any jobs that an employer would adapt for my condition. So I wait. Does anyone know how far back the payments go if you are approved??????????????????/ Miriam
  7. It's a little far but Dr. Janine Frank at Univ. of Pit. Most of her patients are kids. She is excellent. She is my doc. Miriam

  10. Anything is possible. We must all really expect the unexpected. We change like the weather. Keep a list of concerns and ask your doc. It passes usually. Good luck Miriam
  11. My doc. suggested propel H2O, if you can't drink gatorade. There also is sugar free gatorade, which is available at wal-mart. My son also introduced me to electrolyte pills, after going from Seattle to San Antonio for 6 weeks training this summer. Miriam
  12. [SIZE=14] You wouldn't have believed this. My attorney had a bunch of cases with the same judge in a row. He said that this guy was reasonable. This judge likes pre-trial information, so he knows ahead of time what is happening. There were a couple of reports missing-MAYO-- so I said I would see that he got it. And my neuropsych results which I have and can fax. He went over my info and asked me a couple questions. Then the vocational guy said all my jobs were skilled. The ones he could recommend were ticket taker, cashier, and something I couldn't hear. Then the judge says whell she really is in pretty much of a vegetative state so could any of these work? NO. So I'll get the records to him and wait. Thanks for all your support Miriam
  13. I have my Disability hearing tomorrow at 10 am. Wish me luck. It ought to be interesting because not only is orthostatic intolerance an issue. I also have some brain dmage from my ICU stay last year. Had neuro-psych testing. . I don't know how long it takes to hear, although my attorney is confident. Hope you are doing . Take care Miriam
  14. Isn't Ft. Hood in San AAAAAntoonio???? we were just there for my sons commishioning service. I'll e-mail him andask how he would start. He knows alot because of me. Everytime I go to Seattle to see my grandchildren, and he and his wife too I end up in the ER dor a tank full. He also is working on a list of doctors that treat dysautonomias in the Seattle/madiggan area will post to the appropriate person. I have been treated well every time I have gone to the ER there, Harborview, I you don't mind the county hospital, which until the thie=rd time I decided I do, Jeff scoped out a couple others that his faculty said if my wife were sick I would take her................., and thatrs wheere my memory ends .Sorry N Miriam
  15. Pooh I thought with medicare they couldn't charge you the difference. Also what about having the order filled at the hospital pharmacy? I too use chartwell, and every week they call and see how things are and what I need. My husband starts most of my IV's so I don't need that. Running out of "good " veins though. Good luck Miriam
  16. Hi, When researching this after my diagnosis, I found that many, many patients are from the military. I would call Walter Reed and see what they offer. Also the NIH has information. Sorry this is such a difficult time. Miriam
  17. Sure, First there is a link in the info section. It is majot allergic problems. I must take meds everyday for this. Since your tongue is involved I suggest getting an ANA kit so if the swelling gets out of hand you can use that. This is very serious if its effecting your respiratory system. Good luck Miriam
  18. O.K. what are you taking. ?????????????????????????????????? Miriam Congratulations on your "Happy Time"
  19. I had almost a siilar situation, did lose my vision in one eye temporarily. Went to the ER and they did CAt scan wanted to admit me, but no private rooms gotta keep that temp down!!!!!! My husband was with me and not on call so we came home. I went in to see the genetic eye Dr. then whe ACTUALLY kNOws ABOUT POTS and they did alot of tests. They think f"for me" that I had a mini occular TIA that resolved. My vision is vastly different, and Dr. Goren gave me a new prescription-just got new ones last summer!!!!. They said that they take vision very seriously and that we/I should never wait, get seen immediately eveen if its ER. I havn't ordered my new glasses yet the air quality is bad and I can't handle it. My opthamologist believes that this is due to pots. So now it q/6mos. Which is ok because he knows about it. Miriam
  20. You should just add the title "My Autonomic Storm". This is exactly what happens to me too. Thanks for journaling your episode, I think it was very well worded. Miriam
  21. I was involved in a car accident right before symptoms started. KEEP COPIES of all you records, reports etc. This is the one time I didn't turn over therapists notes, they wanted all not just related to accident. Before starting to talk to atty, explain how now you get confused and it takes longer to recall. Also neuropsych tests help alot. Miria.
  22. Wouldn't it be nice if we were HIGH ON LIFE?????/Miriam
  23. What about calling other churches? They have Stephens Ministers, this is exactly what you need. You could talk with the pastor and tell them that your regular resourse is out of town and there will be times that you need this help. P.S. I went to see Dr. Goren Genetic Eye Spec. at UPmC and I told him I now have pots he sid really???? I said yepper. He asked alot of questions because he has a patient that has it and he has been trying to get her help. She is still at the Your a drug seeker stage etc.......Anyhow he doesn't usually prescribe blasses you must go to the optometrrist. But since I gave him do much information to help his patient who he was on his way to call, he gave me my prescription for my glasses!! Yeah!!! Take care Miriam
  24. Linda, I see Dr. Tummulupoli and dr Busis neurologist.Let me know next time you're in town or get stuck here. Miriam
