  1. I have a great idea. Why don't you contact the SSI office, asd tell them you would be happy to work in their office. Would tell them that now that you are aware of your life thank you thank you SSI. That you would like to share!!! Miriam
  2. I havn't posted in a while. Been in Seattle caring for my 2 grandsons 5,2. Won't go into details but their mom should live in fear. She kidnapped the kids and took them. My son is finishing his 3rd year med school, everything was covered. I WAS BETTER THAN I CAN REMEMBER WHILE I WAS THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sprent a couple nights in hospital (heart). Found doctors who DO know POTS!!!!!! The most important thing to me is that I did it. Went to the park, outside. Laundry etc..... I really want to help so he can finish, and was well in Seattle so that is where it would be best!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks to all who serve our country. Miriam
  3. I have this, my docs changed my meds to see if my numbeers were better. No. Indeed it can cause sudden cardiac death, usually other things are involved. When you have an EKG ask what your QT wave is and have your doc explain. My sister died in Dec from this and in my case it is genetic. But no one is going to scare me from living, I say this as I go to Seattle for 5 weeks to care for my 2 grandsons!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The best advice is to check whatthe # is on your EKG............ Miriam
  4. I have had similar problems. I see a neuro-opthamologist. They take pictures of your eyes, pressures etc. If you are having this much trouble see someone. It turned out that because of my sleep apnea my BP increases while sleeping and I had a TIA in one eye which we caught and have no problems. He also has me use the coating eye drops, you can't see for a couple of minutes after using.. Also I had premature menopause in my early thirties. There are blood tests for that. Take care Mirim
  5. I don't know where in Ohio you live. We in Pa have a major problem with strep throat right now. Its been on news reguarly and the health dept is encouraging folks to get checked. The deal here is there are alot of "carriers" of which I was one. Its because folks tend to stay here not move soe ....... You might want a culture. The other thing for me that was a problem is sleep apnea, since I have my c-pap machine its BETTER. Good luck Miriam
  6. Perhaps someone from a locsl church eould be willing. Years ago I drove cance paientsfrom State Coleege to Hershey medical center in Pa for chemo treatments. If you call churches and ask. They may have a stephens ministry program. Miriam
  7. I have to control my carbohydrate input, that will plump me right up. Miriam
  8. I agree, IDIOTS. The thing about rehab facilities is that they usually have more ineed than resourses, so they can pick and choose what they do more of. I assume this physiatrist you saw can't buy a clue. Could you have your pcp or other Docs. call and speak direstly, then you will maybe know. Miriam
  9. Morgan, Does your Insurance co have an appeals process? Also here in Pa. the ELKS have for years lent, given durable medical equipment to folks who need. Miriam
  10. Last night I was watching Discovery health, and they had an episode on pots(not treatedapprop.) and chiari malformation. Educational and helpful. Miriqm

  13. i HAD A SKIN BIOPSY TO DIAGNOSE MINE. There is actually quite alotof literature on this, see my derm Wed will get copies. I had my worst on my breast and vulva yes in deed. And the funniest or ironic part is that there is a vulvar specialist I got to see for the biopsy. I think once you have had a child these things become less intrusive?? Miriam
  14. Yes, there is the AMA-assn.org....they have a doctor finder feature, different towns, specialties etc. You can search for one with special interest in dysautonomias. Good Luck. You're probably looking for a family doc. Miriam
  15. Probably..he has dry eye. And you can ask them to put drops in first. Otherwise my Opthamologist has them numb them first. Luck.........Miriam
  16. I was there for 2 weeks. They see you then if you might have cardiac issues-you go to cardiology. His schedulers will give to you at the end of your first visit a schedule of all your other appts. If they are along time off you can go to the clinic and wait........the way things run you usually get in, take something to read. So you as I did, might see cardiolgy, endocrinology, lab and other tests. So it is FULL for you. Tell them right when you check in neurology what your time frame is. They will try to get everything done or have you come back. Good luck......Keep Us posted.......Miriam
  17. I had all my tes results. Also my therapist wrote a report about my functioning due to this syndrome, and depression because of.......My Judge was really decent. He held up the psych eval,.also the one who knew me longer" and said this makes my job alot easier. He asked me a couple of questions. I was approved for orthostatic intolerance. Good luck. FYI- usually they give you 60-90 days till your hearing I got less than 30 so it was good to have everything up to date. Miriam
  18. I saw him last Jan. The important thing is to just give him all your symptoms. If you got in to see him, he has your medical records. Keep a small notebook with you while you are there and jot down questions and thoughts. He will know which direction to lead.......Miriam
  19. Last weekend Discovery Health channel had a series on syndrome X, metabolic syndrome. The other issue of this is increased risk of stroke and heart disease. Miriam
  20. You are right. Ironically on CNN yesterday there was a story about metabolic syndrome. It emphasized that it increases risk for stroke, cardiac arrest, liver problems and diabetes but there were others. I am anxious to hear what my doc from Mayo said to my PCP. Will pass on . Thanks Miriam
  21. I have already done all the correct diet stuff. Still couldn't lose weight' a sign of this. My doctor put me on a statin instead of gemfibrozil. Next she will try meridia for a short time, to see if we can stop the cycle. She has contacted my endo from mayo and he is working with her. Miriam
  22. [Lost my post again.... Have been diagnosed with "metabolic syndrom" or syndrome X. My blood sugars are 100-125, cholesterol off charts. HDL 61............. My waist has been growing despite food control and exercise. Any other pots folks have this?
