  1. Hi guys, Thanks for taking the time to reply to my post. Melissa-I meant to say that my doc prescribed Ondansetron, which I found out got approved by my RX insurance after having all the PA forms filled out. They actually paid for 90 pills!! Talk about lucky, lets just hope that they do infact work for me! I did try Meclizine a while back when I had an inner ear infection which left me off balance, I don't remember if it helped much or not?! Thank you again for letting me know how Zofran/Ondansetron worked for you. I hope you are hanging there, I haven't seen any updates, please when your feeling up to it, let us know how you are doing! DSDmom/Nadine-The RX was definately expensive, my insurance paid well over $1000.00 for the pills, as I said earlier I'm really hoping this helps alot. CardiacTech-I'll look into that med. if the Zofran doesn't work!! Thanks again for everyones input!! Jacquie
  2. Hi Everyone, I feel like a stranger since I haven't been on here for a while! Since I have tried a number of anti nausea meds and I still have severe nausea my GI doc has decided to try Ondansetron/Zofran. My insurance doesn't cover it and I need a Prior Authorization. I'm just curious to see if others have had a hard time getting the med approved?! Also, I'd like to know if Zofran does work well for the nausea for most people. I have heard that this is the strongest anti nausea med, so I'm hoping it does. Thanks for taking the time to respond, once I'm feeling better I hope to be able to be on here more often. Jacquie
  3. Hi, I just saw your post and had to reply. I too have flushing but it seems to happen to my whole upper body. I have seen numerous specialists, including an endocrinologist and we never figured out what causes this for me. Also, when I get minor scratches my whole arm gets all flushed...Let me know if you find anything out about this flushing, it would be interesting to see what's going on!! Jacquie
  4. Hi Belinda! It was soo great to see a post from you up here on the forum. I was just thinking about you the other day as well as a few other oldies who havent been posting lately. I hope you get some concrete answers from your visits...I can't imagine raising 2 children while dealing with everything you have going on...I wish you the best of luck on your journey, please keep us updated as much as you can, also feel free to PM me! Jacquie
  5. Hi everyone, Just wanted to check in since I haven't been on the forum for a bit. I hope everyone is feeling well, esp in time for the upcoming holidays. Lately my nausea and lightheadedness have really been taking their toll. I saw my cardio a few weeks ago and we decided to try the Toprol XL again to relieve my migraines and so I can hopefully go back on Florinef (had to stop due to severe headaches). My stomach doctor I talked to on the phone and he would like me to try Phenergen. I am really warey about the side effects but at this point with the nausea being so bad I really need to try it. If anyone has had any experiences, esp with the Phenergen I'd like to know. I know that Zofran works for my stomach but of course ins. dont like to cover it!! I am going to try to visit the forum more often. It was great to see updates from those who haven't been on the forum for a while themselves....To all the new members I would also like to welcome you to the forum!! Jacquie
  6. Carla, I'll keep you and your dad in my thoughts and prayers. Hang in there!! Jacquie
  7. Amy, I hope by now you are rid of the sepsis and the doctors have some sort of idea of what's going on with your system.....As always you are in my thoughts and prayers... Jacquie
  8. Hi everyone, Hope everyone is doing somewhat well if not great. I've been putting along lately, myself. Just curious when you guys take a nap or get up in the AM how long does the lightheadedness last???? Mine seems to last hours where I feel like I have been drinking all night even though I haven't!! Thanks, Jacquie
  9. Melissa, I was soo saddened to see your post about being back in the hospital with Sepsis. I said a prayer for you last night and I will continue to do so, praying that you recover from the sepsis along with the complications. I hope your blood work shows the Sepsis is gone. Also, hoping that the docs can get a new line in....Keep us updated... Jacquie
  10. Yay!!! Hope the ablation relieves the tachy for you!! Jacquie
  11. Hi Thanks for all your replies! I did mention to my headache specialist the Zoloft and he didn't seem too concerned about it, perhaps because I am only on 75mg?? I did read something about seratonin syndrome though if you are taking the two medications...?! Glad to read that no one has had any major problems! thanks, Jacquie
  12. Hi, I was diagnosed a few days ago with Migraines. Just wondering if anyone has/had any good or bad experiences with Axert and amitriptyline. The amitriptyline is supposed to be a preventative, and I'm going to be on 20 mg of it daily. Also, I am on Zoloft, so if anyone else is on an SSRI with Axert and or amitriptyline id also like to hear from you!! thanks, Jacquie
  13. Hi, I had both the oral stuff you drink and the Contrast through IV. Lets just say that I didn't make it in time to the toilet at my boyfriends family cookout...VERY EMBARESSING!! Jacquie
  14. Yes, Yes, Yes...I deal with that type of nausea alot. I am still waiting to find that "magic pill" that works.....If you find something let me know! I hope this subsides for you very soon. Jacquie
  15. Thanks for the info! My apptmt with Dr. Freeman isnt until April 2008! Yikes!! Jacquie
  16. Hi Everyone, For the past few weeks I have been having severe headaches, which I'm guessing are migraines. I see a headache specialist in a few weeks. Sometimes before my headaches I get a phantom smell of nail polish remover..I am the only person who smells it. Do you think that could be an aura? Everytime I look up auras with headaches it only mentions visual auras... I have a brain MRI over the summer which came back normal. Also, Tylenol isn't helping with the pain, is there anything that can help until I get to the headache specialist? Thanks, Jacquie
  17. Hi, I take Yaz and have no probs with it.
  18. Hi guys, My doc is sending me to a neuro who specializes in migraines/headaches. My docs seem to think that what I am experiencing are Cluster Migraine headache attacks..Just curious who else has this and what their treatment plan is (meds, self help things, etc.). The docs would like to put me on Imitrex, I am also looking for feedback on that med. Thanks! Jacquie
  19. Sophia3, I never knew that Zoloft can add to the nausea. It's strange how some SSRI's help and others can actually make the nausea worse. My doc did give me an RX to try both Metroclopamide and Promethazine...To be honest I am very wary of the side effects, I am especially nervous because my mom had a severe allergic reaction to an unknown medication. Thanks for all the ideas, I am hoping to talk to my GI doc VERY SOON....This is the week he is on vaca. Jacquie
  20. Thanks for all your replies... Mary, did you ever switch to another SSRI??
  21. Hi, Thank you all for your replies... Flop, I am curious whether the fennel seeds, cardamom pods, whole cloves, etc. are safe to use. I guess what I am wondering is whether there are any adverse affects. Dsdmom, Zofran is the only medicine that I've tried so far that helps. My insurance most likely will not cover it, so my Gastro. doc hasn't prescribed it. He did say it is hard to get covered though. When my nausea is horrible I go to the hospital ER and they give me Zofran through and IV...Works wonders.... Persephone, what is cyclizine?? Is that the generic or brand name of the medication?? I am on Zoloft but it has not helped at all with my POTS or nausea. It has helped with the headaches I used to get all the time. They still occur but not as often. Also, the Zoloft helps with my anxiety... Thanks again for taking the time to reply! Jacquie
  22. Linda, I am glad that you have finally got some answers....Keep us posted! Jacquie
  23. hi guys, I havent been here posting much due to my horrible nausea. I have tried alot of things, ginger ale, etc. and none really help all that much. Also, many meds as well. Id like to hear what everyone else out here does for their nausea, I'm tired of feeling sick all of the time. sorry for being such a downer i am just feeling helpless right now. jacquie
  24. Hi, Personally my bp goes from high to low, etc. there are even times when my bp is "normal" and I feel dizzy/lightheaded, etc. Also, my heartrate goes all over the place. Has your daughter had any type of heartmonitor?? I have POTS as well as SVT, and SVT can cause a rapid heart rate while resting, I believe the rapid heartrate associated with SVT starts suddenly and POTS/ low BP gradually..If I'm wrong someone please correct me. Also, welcome to the forum! Jacquie
  25. Melissa, I hope you get some answers as to what's going on...I can't even begin to imagine how you are feeling right now. I'm glad that so far your blood work is coming back normal. Keep us updated as often as you can. Take care. Jacquie
