  1. Hello friends! I've recently been told by my Dr. that light excercise may help my extreme fatigue. But I am so tired that when I do have energy I try and clean my bathroom and do things that actually need done around my house...does this sound familiar to anyone? I would love to try some light weight-lifting, etc. But is this realistic?? What do you guys think? If it is actually going to help me improve it's definitely worth a try. I would love feedback regarding your endeavors in this area, whether it's weightlifting, walking, or whatever. Thanks again! Lisa
  2. Hello! About the Sudafed: --My mom had chronic fatigue syndrome and took this religously each day to help with her brain fog/fatigue. --I on the other hand can't tolerate it - it makes my heart race and also makes me jittery! I guess it's different for everyone, Lisa
  3. I was put on the lowest dose of Paxil Controlled Release with hopes that it would help my Nervous system. Paxil also has helped me to have little to no anxiety even when my heart races and the adrenaline kicks in. It has worked great for me but everything seems to affect everyone differently. Lisa
  4. Merry Christmas Everyone, I hope you have a wonderful Holiday! Lisa
  5. Lisa, Want to hear something ironic? Well, my name is Lisa and I got POTS after having mono also! I got mono in college and then got over it. Then I got really run down a few years later and it actually reactivated - this is rare but can happen. (a "monospot" test must be done as a part of your bloodwork to diagnose) I would have some bloodwork done to get this checked out. Hopefully you are just really run down now though and it hasn't come back! When did you get mono the first time? How long have you had POTS? I've had it for 3 years now, wow time flies! Hang in here and let me know if youre feeling better! Lisa
  6. yum, you guys are making me hungry! I like to keep some pre-made pizza crusts (such as digiorno crusts) around. When I need a quick meal I add a can of spaghetti sauce, any toppings you prefer and cheese. Throw A dash of italian herbs on top and put it in the oven. (it's even good as leftovers) I realize this isn't anything new but it's much healthier than store bought pizza and it's quick and easy. Hope this helps, Lisa
  7. Jessica, I am Praying for you! This must have been so scary! I've never had a tachy episode that bad -- that would be horrible(especially being pregnant!) Keep us posted, Lisa
  8. I tend to say I got a virus that damaged my nervous system. (mono caused my POTS) If people want to know more I go on to explain what your nervous system controls (HR, BP, etc.) Hope this helps, Lisa
  9. Ceftin has worked well for me. The only side effect has been GI irritation. I take acidophylus (sp?) during and after the course of the med - a supplement that you can get for restoring your bodies natural "good guy" bacateria. It works great! Lisa
  10. I've also used Zomig 2.5 -- it has worked well for me. I take 5 mg if the headache seems worse than normal and I know I will be home and able to sleep. It makes me a drowsy, that's for sure, Hope you find a med that works! Lisa
  11. Tearose, Interesting! I get extremely nauseous from Splenda! Sugar and Aspartame don't affect me at all! Weird! Lisa
  12. I tried Effexor - the lowest dose. It made my heart race and I was really really nervous and jittery. This is my experience, Meds are different for everyone, It may work well for you! Lisa
  13. Welcome Lisa! My name is Lisa also. I live in Louisville, KY. I got POTS and CFS after a horrible mono infection. I've been sick now for 2 years. Time flies when your sick and having fun! OK that sounded weird but I do live a meaningful life. I definitely have days/weeks where I'm discouraged but the Lord has blessed me with a wonderful husband and family. How are you hanging in there at work? It must be really difficult to give so much of your energy to work and then have to sleep the rest of the week! I can't imagine how frustrating that would be! Welcome again! Have a great day! Lisa
  14. Radha, Hey, It's Lisa! I would go for it! It helps me so much. I take 10mg's 3 times a day. Please let us know what you decide. Have a great day! Lisa
  15. Hello everyone, I am looking for a POTS Dr. for another dinet member. She lives near Lexington, KY and needs a Dr. Any leads are much appreciated!!! Thanks again, Lisa
  16. lilbanana, I am so sorry for your horrible experience. I have had to "move on" from a few Dr's after just one visit from similar experiences. I simply asked for my records and never saw them again. I would keep looking for a dr. who is compassionate about your situation --- if at all possible!!! My father is a family physician who is WONDERFUL and COMPASSIONATE and I hope you will find someone like him.....they are out there, I promise!! Hang in here, I know this is hard!! Lisa
  17. Nina, I'm sorry about the drug reaction! Sudafed makes me feel so irritable and anxious! I know what that feels like! Hang in here, Lisa
  18. Friday, Hello! I know what youre going through! Anxiety can be the worst symptom at times because it seems to control everything about you and your day! My Dr. perscribed Paxil CR in the lowest dose (12.5 mg) and it has worked wonders for me. I have no side affects and I have little to no anxiety. I know this med isn't for everyone, but this is what works for me. Hope this helps and that your anxiety gets better! Lisa
  19. I got POTS right after a really intense mono infection, thanks for the poll. Maybe we could poll people who got POTS right after mono??? Have a great day Lisa
  20. lilbanana, Hello! Welcome to the board! I'm also a "young-one with POTS" (25). It is really tough! I also have times where I am really down. Some days I just cry because I am sick of being sick! Not only do we look healthy, but people just expect that we should be getting better every time they see us. I am on Paxil CR to help with anxiety but I am sure that this also helps guard against a deep depression! We are glad you are here, thanks for your honest post! Lisa
  21. Yes! Another night owl here too! I stay up really late partly because it's the only time I feel like I can think clearly. Also, I'm able to sleep in each morning. I've also had sleep disturbances, I take generic benadryll and it helps me get to sleep. Lisa
  22. Yes, I've also dealt with these! Also, one of the very first symptoms I dealt with was "eye pressure" -- my eyes just felt very full and uncomfortable. I went to an opthamologist and he said everything seemed fine. It sure was weird though! Has anyone else experienced this? What odd symptoms we deal with! Lisa
  23. I just wanted to say that this is such a great idea! Have a great day! Lisa
  24. I've also flown a few times with POTS and it turns out to be easier on my body than all the extra hours traveling in a car/bus. Anxiety about the trip was definitely my worst symptom!! I always need lots of rest after a trip -- this includes trips on planes!! I hope this helps, Lisa
  25. My symptoms also become worse during my period. I have begun to take 2 pill packs in a row so that I deal with this less. "Seasonale" would seem to do this also but I don't know anyone on it. I take Yasmin which works great for me -- some other brands made me really moody! Hanging in here with you, Lisa
