  1. Hi everybody! I truly truly respect all of you that are giving up sugars - and I'm not trying to brag about the fact that I can eat sugar but I'm kinda confused here..... Sugar doesn't seem to affect me (negatively or positively). Am I alone with this? (I've been reading about all of the horrible things sugar does to many of you) Am I just blind to how bad it makes me feel? I do feel badly most of the time but it doesn't seem to change with my eating habits....unless I eat a big meal (then I feel even worse) Thanks for any input! Lisa p.s. I really am impressed that you guys are giving up sugar, I really love sweets!
  2. Hello! I had asthma as a kid and then I seemed to outgrow it (except for when I tried to going running in the cold). I then moved to Kentucky (from VA) and I began to wheeze again every day. My Dr. perscribed Singulair 10mg and it helps so much! (I don't wheeze anymore unless I forget to take it) I also have the shortness of breath caused by POTS. For me I feel as if they are different things. One seems more of a wheeze and the other like I just can't get enough air and I'm breathing quickly. I hope you find a Dr. who will help you figure this out, Lisa
  3. Radha, I recently "adopted a soldier." I found a website that will connect you with a soldier who needs encouragement. The woman I adopted is in Iraq and doesn't have family to write to her. It's fun sending her letters of encouragement. http://www.brandonblog.com/Adopt-A-Soldier.html Just an idea.... Lisa
  4. Steph Thanks for your input. I will look into the links posted and also search for past posts on this topic. Have a great day! Lisa
  5. Can a simple blood test diagnose low blood volume? Are there any bad side affects that can come with Procrit? Thanks! Lisa
  6. Steph, OK I am really impressed that you give yourself shots! I pass out from them at times so I'm already concerned about the injections. I am so ready for something to help my fatigue though that I'll do anything. Thanks again for your input. My Dr. is looking into this now. Lisa
  7. James, I recently had the flu also - it was horrible! I feel your pain! I had to keep taking Ibuprofen every 4 hours because my body ached so badly. I drank lots of hot tea also. I hope you improve quickly! Lisa
  8. Steph - Wow, you are a wealth of information! Thanks! A few more questions.... Why do you take the injections? Does it come in pill form also? Thanks so much for your response - I will look into this and talk to my Dr. as well. I really hope you get over this post-surgery "funk" as you called it. Thanks again, Lisa
  9. Hello! I recently read that Procrit had helped one of you by giving you more energy. (I am extremely fatigued and have to sleep 12-15 hours/day in order to function) Has anyone had experience with this medicine? How do you know if you have low blood volume? Does Procrit have side effects? Thanks for your information and help, I am thankful for you all! Lisa
  10. Hello, I take Toprol XL -- I actually take 1/2 of the 25 mg dosage. (I seem to react to everything) This small amount (12.5 mg) makes my heart go from the 120's to the 60's. Hope you find something that works for you! Lisa
  11. Hello! I have POTS but recently my neurologist said that he thinks my fatigue is caused by CFS. (I could have just POTS and this causes the fatigue or I have POTS and CFS....who knows!) Oh, allergies for me too! Interesting stuff! Lisa
  12. Dear Frank and Christine, Welcome! Frank, I commend you for coming to the site for your wife - this will mean a lot to her! I also understand most of the symptoms Christine has. I was running 3-5 miles per day when I got a virus which caused my POTS. I had to quit working and rest. It's so amazing how this illness can change your life! I hope and pray that Christine will improve and that you will both grow through this experience as my husband and I have. Lisa
  13. I am praying for you all also. May God bless you, Lisa
  14. Amber, Welcome! We are glad you are here! I understand the frustrations of the diagnostic process! I am 25 and have POTS and CFS. The interesting part is that depending on the Dr. I am viewed to have different things. The 2 conditions have so many overlapping symptoms that no one really seems to know which is which. For example....I was originally diagnosed by an internal med. guy who thinks that POTS syndrome is the cause of my fatigue therefore I only have POTS. On the other hand I have a nuerologist who thinks that most of his POTS patients seem to have more energy than I so he feels that I must also have CFS. Anyways, I definitely was diagnosed with POTS through a tilt table test so I mainly hold to this diagnosis. I hope this helps and that you get some more answers for yourself! Keep us posted, Lisa
  15. A Ceiling Inspector! Maybe I could lay on the floor and stare at the ceiling and get paid! Ha! You guys are so funny - thanks for the topic, It made me laugh! Lisa
  16. Xanax has helped me through my worst times of anxiety. I took it as I needed it for a few weeks -- until my SSRI kicked in. I am on Paxil - CR (controlled release). It has been such a great med for me - I feel like myself with very few side affects. I haven't had an anxiety attack since beginning it 2 years ago. Different things work for different people - I hope you can find something to control your anxiety. I think anxiety can be the worst symptom of all - because it literally controls everything about your life for that time period. Hang in here! Lisa
  17. I've had this also. I think it was the worst though when I had an active mono (EBV) infection. (If it doesn't go away I would possibly get some blood work, just a suggestion.) I hope this improves for you! Lisa
  18. I'm with you on this one! I've even had to get down on the ground in the grocery store in order to not pass out! It's amazing how many of us are bothered by stores and the over-stimulation! Lisa
  19. Interesting! Thanks for posting! Lisa
  20. April, How wonderful! Thanks for sharing your news with us! I will be praying for you all during this adjustment period. Lisa
  21. Anna, Hello! I understand many of your frustrations also! I wish I had more answers for you. I am 25 and facing the struggles of being young without any energy and with lots of crazy POTS symptoms. I commend you for your perseverance as you try to finish student teaching. I can't even imagine what youre going through. I hope you can find a job that will work with your needs. I graduated college as a voice performance major and now singing makes me dizzy and takes all of my energy. I have been out of work now for 2 years because working outside of the home isn't an option for me right now because I sleep so much. I tried Provigil for a while (it made me jittery but some people get lots of good energy from it). It is usually precribed for narcolepsy. I take Zomig for migraines, are you allergic to this? Please stay encouraged that you will figure something out and I really hope you will improve. Thanks for your post, Lisa

  23. Thanks! Pilates does seem like a great idea to do on days when I don't feel good enough to leave the house. Thanks for cheering me on! Lisa
  24. Radha, I really hope you can find something to help you eat again! It must be horrible to get tachy and headaches just from eating! Hang in here, Lisa
  25. Hello everyone, I was actually out of town last week and didn't have access to the internet......what a blessing it was to come back and see all of your responses! Thanks for encouraging me to start slowly and to just try something - anything is better than nothing I suppose! It's so wonderful to hear about your stories of failure and victory because it encourages me to keep trying until I find what works for me. Last summer I was able to walk a few times a week. Lately I have become really de-conditioned though and it has concerned me. My husband attends seminary here in Louisville and I have access to there pool. I think I'm going to give light pool excercises a try. Thanks again for encouraging me, I am so thankful for each of you! Lisa
