  1. Hi Tammy, I've been taking it for a little over a month now. I had to play around with dose since even 5mg gave me some yucky side effects so I broke the pill down more, which is not an easy feat since it falls apart. I asked my cardio to rx me the liquid and that is what I have been taking since. I take 2mg now and did not notice any bad side effects but I did notice it has helped quell the surges. When they do happen, which has been less often, they have not been as intense. My cardio is the one who suggested the ssri. My heartrate seems to be more manageable in the low 100's rather than 120,130's and the chills that I had afterward, always had afterwards, have really not happened, even the before chills have been very slight and it seems that sometimes the full blown surge has been aborted. (Knock on wood it stays this way). I would say give it a try. I don't know how much he gave you to start but perhaps if you want to start lower and work your way up that may be the way to go, break the pills or ask for the liquid. I told my cardio, I don't know if the lexapro is what is helping, but I am not willing to cut it out now to see if it really is or not. It is such a baby dose I am taking but hey, I am not going to mess with it. Good luck
  2. I have Reynaurd's. It is poor circulation. My fingers, toes, nose and ears suffer during the winter. They start to turn purple and when I get back into a warm room etc, they hurt and burn. As soon as the weather starts to change and the temp begins to drop my fingers toes and nose are cold all the time. No matter how many layers of clothes etc. Smoking decreases circulation even more so I am told so if you smoke, quit. Beta blockers can also cause poor circulation so if you are on one, like I am, then that can increase or make the symptoms more likely to occur.
  3. I like that. I hope those who say I just need to "relax", buy it or rent it. Maybe the Rent A Center would take it on also.
  4. There might be something else going on like CFS or fibromyalgia. I have fibromyalgi, I go through times when it is fine and does not flare and other times, when there is a flare, I can't even raise my arms above my head, feels like I am lifting weights. The same with my legs. I also have lower back problems that when the fibro flares of the back flares, one starts the other off. I also have trigger points and when I am stressed, or wet weather or just plain do nothing, it can flare and cause all types of muscular pain etc. Just some thoughts. Feel better
  5. That is shoddy treatment in the least. I remember years ago I had a dr. I was using and when I was sick with a sinus infection, bad pain, I called and they could not see me for 3 weeks. I'd either be over it by then, or in the hospital or dead I said to them. I hung up and never went back. I don't go for every little thing either. When I go it is because I really feel bad. What do they expect people to do when they are sick like that? Going to a walk in is not always the best either. They don't know your history etc. Can't win, can we. Don't feel bad about feeling bad. It stinks, and we always have to fight. Thank goodness you have a good, caring allergist. I hope you get this infection under control and the new dr. you meet will be the one you "click" with too.
  6. Sounds horrible but glad they found out what was wrong and have a plan of action against it. Hope you are feeling better soon.
  7. Everyone is different. I thinks some of the major concerns would be if one was taking it for high b/p, heart problems or with a history of heart disease that the heart may not be able to take the sudden withdrawal and the sudden burden of not having the BB help. For most others though who take it for palpitations, fast but normal heart rate I think the concerns is rebound tachycardia but with only 2 months I don't think that would be a big change though. Just my opinion and from what I have heard from my Dr. They told me if you are on it for years they advise to gradually wean off to let your body get used to the adjustment gradually. I stopped my p.m. dose of my bb due to my heartrate being low before I even took the night dose and the dose would then drop it even further making me feel uncomfortable. I had a little tachy but then it was o.k. and I had been on it for years. Hopefully you will hear back from you Dr. Good luck.
  8. Hi Jacquie, I don't have anything wonderful to say, but we are here for support. Have you changed your diet that maybe anything could explain the stomach? I've had chest pains, which I know are from my stomach. Plus add to the weather, high humidity and rain by head and chest feel nice and full. Miserable. Any possibility you feel the same.
  9. Maybe just floater(s). I get those many times, especially with weather changes that affect the sinuses. Puts pressure in there and I see black floating things. Not all round, some different shapes. I've had it checked by an eye dr. and said it was fine.
  10. Kidney stone? Ouch! Are you sure you don't have an infection with that? Are you running a fever? Certainly a kidney stone can make you feel out of sorts as it starts to try to pass out of the body. I hope it passes quickly and ya feel better soon.
  11. Tammy, Everyone is different, even within the family. What works for one may not work for another. There are some other good ones out there, like Toprol, Zebeta and inderal. May just take another shot at another one. How is your heartrate normally without the blocker? How much are you taking?.. Sorry if I asked this before and forgot
  12. Rebecca, Just checking in to see how it went. I just read your post today. Did you call your Dr? How are you feeling?
  13. i've been taking it for years. I usually take 12.5 sometimes I take another 12.5 in the eve. In the early years I was taking it for premature beats, the last two years I upped it because of the adrenaline rushes. It helped somewhat, more so if I took an extra 12.5 when an episode happened. If I take a whole 25mg at one time, I feel way to tired and draggy. It might be worth a shot again, and maybe split the dose if they give you 25 or 50 to start. That might help keep some of the possible side effects at bay.
  14. Gosh, Dizzy, so sorry to hear all you are going through. Glad you are home and hopefully on the road back to feeling well. Keep up with the resting and fluids. .The threat of a catheter can make most people pee instantly Hugs to you...
  15. Welcome. Plenty of help here on this board. Your heartrates don't sound high for sitting. How high do they get while standing?
  16. Tachycardia, hypotension at times, adrenaline surges, gi issues. Many times symptoms can be controlled with a little beta blocker and lexapro and diet changes to low carb and mostly sugar free. Still get surges but seems to not be as severe now..(keeping fingers crossed). A.M. are hard until I take a beta blocker, get hydrated. Have to move slow. Exercise is not full capacity anymore but I can usually walk a mile or two and not be so bad. Heat is a big factor though I don't like the cold either and sugary foods or acidic/spicy foods sometimes seem to make things worse.
  17. Hugs to you. I hope you get on the road to recovery quickly. Don't enjoy that hospital food too much.
  18. Good to hear about your negative pheo results. Hope you get some answers soon.
  19. Congratulations! All the best for a safe, easy-going pregnancy and delivery.
  20. Hi, I am taking a beta blocker and lexapro. I have been taking a beta for a long time but still had problems with my heartrate. Since I have been taking the lexapro I think I have noticed a decrease in flare ups with tachy and if I do get tachy it seems to not go so high. (knock on wood that it stays that way) Good luck .
  21. I hope you continue on this path and are able to get back to doing what you want to. Nice to hear someone who has good news
  22. Jacquie, You should be able to locate a representative nearby through the Avon site and then be able to call and have the ding dong,,Avon lady bring you the book and/or just the product so no shipping. I know I have been able to do it that way.
  23. Very cool, I like this type of math. Thanks for sharing
  24. Welcome. Glad to hear you had a dr. who suspected it right away without you going through months or years undiagnosed. Hopefully the sooner you started treatment you may be able to halt or manage these symptoms well. Welcome again.
  25. Congratulations. I can't contribute much either though, I had what I would say was mild symptoms during my 3 pregnancies. I only really got hit hard these last two years and that was 3yrs after my last child. Good luck,,and I echo with keeping up with fluids and doing only what you can do while you are pregnant. Most OB's should be understanding and able to help. They come across so many obstetric patients with different diseases and/or issues before and during pregnancy.
