maryfw Posted January 2, 2008 Report Posted January 2, 2008 I seem to have the weirdest dreams and dream alot. I dont think I am sleeping well and I seem to dream about passing out. I cant even get away from my condition in my sleep!!!!!!!!!mary Quote
JaneEyre9 Posted January 2, 2008 Report Posted January 2, 2008 I've definitely dreamt about passing out. I also have limitations in my dreams (can't stand long) and actually feel ill in the dreams (sore throats)! However, once in a while I'll have a great dream where I'm healthy. Once I dreamt that i went on a vacation by myself, drove, went shopping, and was meeting a friend for lunch. I kept marveling in the dream about how well I felt and how much I could do. I was pretty sad when I woke up and it wasn't real. I think medications can cause us to dream more or more vividly. Also, dreaming is a way we sort out our feelings, so if illness is our main issue in real life, it makes sense that our feelings/fears would surface in our dreams. People always marvel at how well I can remember my dreams and their details. It's interesting that you have the same thing, Mary.~k Quote

taylortotmom Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 Hi, Mary- I do not know what meds you are on but Florinef can cause very vivid dreams. This is one side effect my doctor mentioned and stated some of his patients have experienced Carmen Quote
ajw4790 Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 I hardly dream. Or I at least have no memory of them. Always been like that! I am weird! Quote
pat57 Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 Carmen,You reminded me about the dreams I had while wearing to Nicotine patch- bizarre dreams and restless nights.Thankfully I just had to take the patch off when I went to bed. Quote
P SUDIK Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 I have many weird vivid dreams, and one of them is fainting,Pat Quote
Eli6596 Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 I dream a lot about not being able to find my midodrine. I get weaker and weaker so that I cannot move or talk. In my dreams I cannot make enough sound to ask for the midodrine.Karyn Quote
ehl5 Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 I've never had a passing out or sick dream... although I think a dreamt once that I was watching myself have a seizure. Nontheless my dreams are strange... last night it was my brother and I trying to plan a cross country road trip from LA to North Carolina and the map kept switching states around on us... at one point Oklahoma was "Indian Territory" which is what I think it used to be called. maryfw Posted January 4, 2008 Author Report Posted January 4, 2008 My doctor is sending back to a sleep specialist. I think they call in non-restorative sleep. He thinks a sleep study would be a good idea. We shall see what happens this time. Didnt offer me anything to help me sleep because I dont have trouble getting to sleep, I just have weird dreams and feel like I didnt sleep when I wake up. maryAnother bizarre dream last night..... Sunfish Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 i rarely remember my dreams. this has always been the case for me. one strange one that stuck in my memory bank was a mix of some of my past & present realities in a sort of odd fashion. it was right after a hospital discharge wherein i was brought home my ambulance, a big activitiy for me was getting to the commode next to my bed, etc. but in the dream i was at a pool teaching/ coaching swimming and one of my docs arrived with his son who was on my team/ in my group. i actually DID coach this doc's kid many years back...at a different pool than what was in the dream, but eh well. the odd thing was that in the dream i had also just gotten out of the hospital & had a PICC line in my arm (which was what i had as my IV access at the time), but was obviously a lot more functional. so it was this odd melding of an "if i were healthier" dream & my present reality. nothing really positive or negative, just a bit odd. if i were able i would LOVE to still coach/ teach regardless of my tubes & wires, but not exactly where i'm at...not to mention IVs don't really mix with pools or active children.so that's my "random dream of the day" to share.overall though not many weird dreams for me, or at least not that i remember!! not many not-weird dreams that i remember either though melissa Quote

maryfw Posted January 7, 2008 Author Report Posted January 7, 2008 My doc is sending me for a sleep study. I am totally exhausted today. I think I probably wake up alot at time and dont even realize it. Maybe I am not enterting into the restorative phase of sleep. I seem jumpy, like I am sleeping very light.mary Quote

maryfw Posted January 7, 2008 Author Report Posted January 7, 2008 I wonder if this is something I should talk with my cardiologist about since she is the one treating me for my NCS. or just talk with my primary care physician about it? Has anyone else had any luck getting treatment for sleep?mary Quote
maryfw Posted January 7, 2008 Author Report Posted January 7, 2008 Ok. I called my cardiologist and left a message with the nurse. After that I looked up the side effects of midodrine. My doc increased my midodrine about a month ago and that is when my wierd dreams starting happening. The side effects include " drowsiness, trouble sleeping and leg cramps". Might have found my answer. Now what? My ncs was doing so much better with the increase but I cant function like this. All I want to do is take a nap but when I wake up I am just as tired as before. When I lie down I feel all keyed up and it is hard to relax. mary Quote
JaneEyre9 Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 Hi Mary--Midodrine has a relatively short half-life in the body. Maybe you can talk to your doctor about reducing your evening dose or not taking your last dose of the day as close to bedtime? Kristen Quote
maryfw Posted January 8, 2008 Author Report Posted January 8, 2008 My cardiologist didnt think it was my midodrine. I dont even ususally take a dose in the evening. I guess it is back to the pulmonologist. maryI am just sooooooooooooooooooo tired. mary Quote
Sunfish Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 mary - for me it didn't have any relationship to dreams, but i HAVE had success getting treatment for sleep problems. i have sleep apnea & using a BiPap (though initially it was a CPAP has helped me greatly in regard to more solid sleep. sleep studies have been discussed a decent amount on the forum so if you do a search you'll probably come up with some good info.hope this helps, melissa Quote
morgan617 Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 I stated in an earlier post that my son's pulmonologist says it is not normal to remember dreams well. You may wake up and remember a dream, but by afternoon, it's gone. If your dreams are so vivid you can remember them quite awhile later, you are waking up during the dream, which is not normal, and means you are not getting restful sleep.I have a lot of dreams about being sick..I paralyze in my sleep too, and dream about that. However, I have had no luck getting my primary to refer me to a specialist. I have asked him twice. He says there would be nothing we could do about it..I'm not sure how he knows that, without doing a sleep test, but I can't get into a specialist without his referral. I am weaning my beta blockers and valium to see if that helps, however, if your brain has "trained itself" to have a certain sleep pattern, it has to be retrained to a normal one.I find I can sleep several hours a day now, and then sleep all night, and am still so exhausted, that at times I feel like lifting my arms is the supreme effort of the day. It has become quite annoying that I seem to be more narcoleptic than my hubs anymore, and no one cares....morgan Quote
