  1. i v had low back pain since 2000. went to physical therapy, and chiropractors and neither worked. kept telling the Dr i think i have a herniated disc to do an MRI. they would not write the order for one. finally a few months ago i had low back pain so severe i couldn't walk, and went to the ER and walk in clinic with in weeks of each other to get help for the pain. the pills and injection they gave me didn't work. i didn't know what to do. i knew i couldn't go to my family Dr. cause i knew he wasn't going to help me, so i asked my rheumatologist if he could order the MRI. he did. sure enough i had a herniated disc and 2 bulging discs above that. i was sent to a neurosurgeon. he asked if i was in pain, "i said not today, but told him what I went through the past 10 years. he had me walk on my heals, the my tippy toes. which i could do because that day i was feeling OK. he said he didn't think i needed surgery. didn't recommend pt, pain management, traction device or a 10's unit. really, i have to endure pain so bad at times even strong meds don't help, but your not going to help me. right now i m not in intense pain, but what happens if i have another flare up? is there something i can do to help with the pain.
  2. how does singulair help mcas, and has anyone taken it. if so, what symptoms does it help with.
  3. magnesium gives me a calm feeling. if i get jittery its because my nervous system is excited. i take meds like lexapro and metoprolol to calm the my system.
  4. i have pretty much tried them all. lexapro works best for me. calms the nervous system.
  5. thanks brye. i suffer from daily nausea too. i feel like i have the flu, but every freaking day.
  6. Heres the question on the paper. "How do your illnesses, injuries, or condiitons limit your abilty to work". I have trouble finding words. I am nauseous 24/7, I feel funny (like i m not getting enough blood to my brain), I can't stand or sit down for long periods. If I stand my legs (upper hurt) and lower back hurt. If I sit to long my lower back hurts. but even if i didnt have a herniated disc. i still wouldn't be able to work. i just don't feel good.
  7. my mri says " coronal FRFSE images show muliple signal abnormaliies (whats that mean?), periventricular in nature, predomineantly on the right side. there are atleast six lesions"

  10. i couldn't take 1/4 pill because its a capsule. i dont get the sedated feeling with benadryl at all.
  11. Has anyone tried Hydroxyzine? I took 1 capsule last night 25 mg, and all day I have felt sedated. I was driving earlier and felt funny. I pulled over and had my daughter drive. Don't think I will be taking this again.

  15. i have difficulty swallowing and difficulty holding my head up. not sure what causes this.
  16. alex, yes, before being dx with dysautonomia the dr. tried to say it was anxiety. i do have anxiety, but its secondary to dysautonomia.
  17. well said futurehope and christy. futurehope, do you ever get this burning feeling inside your body, and frequent diarrhea and urination after an attack? I also feel weird when this is happening, like i might pass out.
  18. Issie, you talk about DOA. What is that? I was just reading Isoniazid blocks intestinal DOA. (But, I didn't understand what that meant) I took Isiniazid for 7 months (was suppose to take for 9), dysautonomia symptoms (which I believe to be caused by MCAS), were severe. Dr. Afrin doesn't take paramount insurance (medicaid). Could Grubb write a referral and have my insurance pay for the visit? Not sure how that works. I see Grubb Thursday, I can ask him then.
  19. i was looking up high histamine releasing foods, and just about every food they listed are the foods that make me very nauseous. can you drink alcohol? the last time i tried to drink it, it caused me severe tachycardia.
  20. i am having this vibration feeling in my lower legs. does anyone else have this?
  21. future hope, i emailed Dr afrin, he suspects i have msac too. did he have your dr. run labs, and he wants the results sent to him.?if so, can u tell me the names of the tests u did? i took rantidine but still have heart burn, i take prevacid now. what is rantidine suppose to help with anyway?
  22. i m not having panic attacks or bad dreams. think its just part of autonomic dysfunction. i take a beta blocker, but it doesn't help 100%. I take benadryl before I go to bed, this helps. yes, feels like i can feel my blood flowing through my veins. i have an appointment with my neurologist soon, maybe she will be able to tell me what it is.
  23. My cousin is an endocrinologist. I was telling him about my vitamin D being low and being prescribed 50,000 IU's of Vitamin D once a week. I told him I was worried about toxicity. Here's what he had to say "Vitamin D has actually two forms, cholecalciferol and Ergocalciferol, well as you know them; vitamin D3 and vitamin D2. You are right in my alley; this is all about Endocrinology. Actually; Vitamin D is not a vitamin at all; I am not sure why they claim it is; Vitamin D is a hormone. It is true; that Vitamin D3 is hard to find, but Mayo Clinic does carry it; just contact them about it. Now, vitamin D is not beneficial in all its forms. Vitamin D2, one of the forms of vitamin D can be toxic to the body. Vitamin D3 is good for the body. You can get vitamin D from fortified foods or as pills. However, vitamin D3 is only available in the form of pills or in liquids. They are rarely found in foods." 25(OH)D Blood test results Vitamin D Status ng/ml nmol/L Severely Deficient 0-10 0-25 Deficient 11-20 26-50 Low-normal 21-32 51-81 Normal 33-49 82-124 Optimum 50-65 125-163 High, but not toxic 66-100 164-250 Toxicity possible above 100 above 250
