  1. dear briar, i'm going thru alot of this myself, these last few weeks with the temp going up hasn't helped. i also have lots of spasms, i use soma, the generic anyway, at 350mgs as needed. i use it about every 2-3 days at it also snows me sometimes. i also take magnesium(1200-1600mgs daily), vitamin B-100 complex(one everyday), vitamin c 500mgs with rosehips a day, and 400ui of vitamin E 3 times a week. regular-EVERY DAY stretches are a must, though at times very painful. i have in the last few weeks become very stiff and more tender thou still faithful in my excersises. as too seeing a doc you don't trust, don't do it. check around, anyone else in your area reconmend one, if so why. i'm in the same boat, i did find a good internal med doc and now i need to work on the new neuor and cardio doc, much less a primary care. i'm following here lead and taking her reconmendations but most of them are booked up for months, so i'm taking it on step at a time. are you stiff alot too? how about walking? sorry, i'm so windy, and rambeling also blackwolf
  2. Jan and Jeff, all my prayers, everyday, everyway... blackwolf
  3. thanks tearose, i already decided that the blader troulbe has to come first thanks so much, i'm doing ok on liquids and soft foods, sometimes bread, but i'm keeping it simple with the meats, fish, chicken and turkey. still fill choked up, having trouble with some of my pills, only down side is that i can't cut or crush the 2 i really need to, i can get the rest down cut up more or, like the neurontin, open the capsul and poor it into applesauce, but... i'll make it thanks so much for thinking of me, blackwolf
  4. thanks nina and tearose i guess the only thing i worry bout is being sicker while it is hot. i know i will get sick form the surgery and can live with it, but waiting till Sept. to get it done seems like such a wait. i have a wedding at the end of July that i have to be at, my brother-in-laws, and my kids are doing things, Lorrie is the flower girl and Andy is in charge of gifts with his twin cousins. my internal med doc has been the greatest and said that even though i was doing the kegels correctly and was very strong in some places i was weak in others. some of the weakness is due to trouble after some other surgeries i had done several years ago. if the one drug didn't work, she wasn't going to mess around with pills and just pass me on the a surgon who does alot of these. things have progressed rather fast over the last few weeks, going from leaking only when i coughed or was sick to leaking on standing up and just walking. sorry, i have the ramble bug, thank you so much, blackwolf
  5. wareagle we have discussed this, but are waiting to see if it resolves itself in a few weeks, i'm giving it till the middle of July. i'm still having trouble, but... i'm a little nervous about the barium studies, the last time i had it done, i got the worst stomach cramps and diarrhea. was it a fluke, is this a common reaction. i wasn't on any diet restrictions, just told not to eat any solids for about 4 hours. everything seems to have flared up again, hard to walk, stiff, painful, tachy and brady, funny arrithmia, ringing in my ears, visual trouble(double vision and "floaters" and flashing lights), bladder and bowel trouble. my hubby wants me to try and get one of those walkers that have the seats, but the price... OUCH!! and i don't know if we can get any of it payed for. i do ok, but if i push just a little, BOOM, i'm down. ok, ok, i'm done whineing, but i wish i could just get a break. blackwolf
  6. well, i gave it a really good try(6 days), but i gotta stop the vesicare-my doc had hoped it would help with my bladder troubles, no such luck. what i did end up with was backed up bowels and cramps like a bad period(since i haven't one since April of '99, i don't miss them) and after 2 rounds with good 'ol fleet's i'm starting to get moving again. anyone had work done on their pelvic floor, specifically for bladder troubles? if so what were your options? thanks, blackwolf
  7. i don't get anything but my headset and radio, very loud rock and roll, have for years. when i was about 11-12, i had a tooth removed and lost 3 days and woke up in the hospital, since then, i just use me radio and alot of self-control. ps. it helps an awlful lot if the guy cleaning your teeth has eyes like Christopher Reeves, that kinda blue you could dive into and just melt. blackwolf
  8. i get this occasionally, thou my docs have never come up with why. i usually get it in my lower legs, but have also had it happen in both arms and twice in one breast. i'm on the heavy side, thou losing weight, but still get this. do you use asprin or other type of blood thinner. i also have weaker blood vessels and they think that on ocassion the just "burst", having been eakened earlier by biing bumped and that under stress, especially standing or excersing they just pop. don't feel alone, just one more whole in the pots pan. blackwolf
  9. i drink about 12 cups of water, plus one or two cups broth, for the salt, about 3-4 cups of milk, 3 cups of electrolyte drink(like gatorade, but no sugar), 2-4 cups juice, give or take. but to each person it is different. i pee out alot of what i take in, even while i use tons of salt. i can't handle florinef. best of luck, blackwolf
  10. thanks everyone, ernie-i tried some heartburn type drugs and actually found out after i had my throat scoped a few years ago that was the worst thing to do. i only needed to eat smaller meals and "lighter" foods(ie. no beef or pork, certain kinds of leafy greens and large amounts of bread). i found out then that my stomache emptied slowly and that my "heartburn" was just a full tummy that wasn't emptied yet. just a side note, i almost never fill full or hungry though i make a point to eat somethig when my tummy rumbles alot. morgan-thanks for explaining it for me more, i have had this off and on for awhile, but now it seems to be so much more often. i know i need to lose some weight but not eating isn't the right way either. i will go ahead with the follow up from my new internal med doc and see where it leads, but i will be back if anything does come up. thank you again everyone, blackwolf
  11. dear ariella and morgan, as much as i don't want to go i think i have to. i will call my new internat med doc to get a referal. i trust her more than anyone else anymore. i am a little shy when it comes to working with my throat, i gag super easy and through up fast. i even have to be careful brushing my teeth, and boy look out if i have a doc who wants to see deep into my throuat. more than one has gotten a little more than they planned for. ariella-as to other muscle weakness, i have chronic left side weakness- mostly effecting my legs, however, i do have times where i just can't hold onto anything and play "dropsy" most of the day. i also have periods of being easily fatigued with lots of tremors. again, not really sure why. my new doc has a list of things she wants to check, as i do,i'll let you all know what comes up, or is often my case, doesn't morgan-could i get some more info on what your problem is. web sit or jsut write back, here or email thanks so much, blackwolf
  12. i have been having trouble swallowing before and it has usually passed on after a few weeks, now it isn't. should i dig to see what is up. my new doc would like me to have a swallowing study done. is it really going to make any difference? is there anything i can do about it? does anyone have experence with this? please, let me know. my trouble seems to be that anything heavy just seems to sit there in my throat(meats, breads), sometimes even making me through up (sorry). it sometimes even happen after several swallows of liquids., i just feel like i'm choking. any ideas? thanks, blackwolf
  13. corina-thanks again for thinking of me, lurking is all i'm up to, the screen seems to be bugging my eyes again and it lasts for hours. morgan-i can only hope that everyone is as luck as i have become. i am so sorry about your bad trip to the er. thanks everyone, blackwolf
  14. dear morgan, the state of most ers and hospitals is disgusting. and i almost weep at hearing of anyone having a bad experence there. i am almost ashamed to say that i was a health care provider, even if it was in a nursing home. i am currently switching hospitals and docs, and have already gotten better care. the old er treated me like a nut case so i just didn't go till it was almost too late. my new doc (internal med) has ordered iv fluids, vestiril(sp), O2 and three choises of pain med per my request if needed. she has been a blessing. thou i haven't needed them, i know they are there and i even have her home phone, so if something happens, i can call her before i go in and have anything else i need there ready for me. i can olny wish that more of us can get the care we so deserve. blackwolf
  15. dear lisa, sorry to hear about all of your troubles. but i must say welcome. i have a few suggestions, check out the what helps section on the home page, then look for the search at the top right side of your screen, then type in the subject that you want. sorry to be short, but mother nature is moving quickly and noisily into our area and i must be brief(thunderstorms and tornadoe warnings) welcome to south dakota-if you don't like the weather, wait 30 minutes it will change(local saying). blackwolf
  16. dear emily, about lying down flat, i feel ok for about 10 minutes, then i get this heavy full feeling in my head( the part that is down-usually the back of my head) then this terrible painful pressure feeling that fills my head and neck. i just seem to feel like my head is going to either blow up or i'm going to start leaking liquid out me ears, nose and mouth, i feel "full" in my head and the longer i lay there the worse it gets. it becomes so painful i usually have to get out of the machine or get some kind of heavy duty drug. twice i have had to have valium and demoral just to get thru a test. once i was monitored and my bp and hr went really high then crashed to almost nothing and i usually feel really bad( dizzy, nauseated, no balance, lightheaded, fainting, blurred vision, ringing in my ears-really loud, ect.)sometimes for hours. and then potsy for the next week or so.this can also be a problem during sex, thru years of experiments, i have found that i can lay at an angle with a few pillows beneath my shoulder and head, but only for about 10-15 minutes. i have actually fainted during both tests and sex. i don't care so much about the techs doing the tests, but during sex is a real bummer. sorry that might offend someone but i have to tell the truth and i have to speak my mind, sorry to anyone it bothers. blackwolf
  17. i'm in the heartland, Sioux Falls South Dakota,( southeast corner) and the best thing around here are the county shops and hunting, on the other side of the state are the Black Hills with the Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse Memorals. all fun to visit and quiet places to be found all over. blackwolf ps just a not on the docs, i found this while diggin thru some papers from college stress: the confusion created when ones mind tries to override the bodies basic desire to choke the sh__ out of some ass____ who desprately needs it. and another one i refuse to explane myself, my friends understand and the rest of you wouldn't believe me anyway. and of course, drainbamaged
  18. dear geneva, yah, i was some "over stimilated"(understatment) but i figure i can handle a few bad days if Lorrie can have a few really good ones. the doc was great and we already have a few new ideas to try. adding a few vitamins and minerals. mabey a new drug or two. she did say she would call my cardio doc and see what was up with not doing the mestinon, i really believe she will too, she didn't understand what the big deal was. "the only way to tell if it will help is to try it" she said. she said if the cardio "blows her off" we'll give it a shot in 4 weeks after trying the new vitamins and the vesicare(bladder trouble). if the vesicare doesn't help, will look into abdominal floor work, as all the excercise(pelvic floor and kegals) isn't really helping and she actually checked if i was doing them right. she was so completely thorough that i and my hubby were floored. she was everything i needed right now, she even said she would help me find a new cardio in her group if i wanted to. we have two "groups" of docs here. one working mainly thru one hospital and one thru the other. i am slowly changing from one group to the other. except me pain mgt doc, who i love to work with and has been so nice. again, thank you everyone for thinking of me, i have been "lurking" mostly at odd hours, and rarely feel up to typing. blessings everyone, blackwolf
  19. dear corina, thanks for asking, the new doc was so cool, she new what i was talking about and didn't act like i was nuts. a 30 minute appoinment turned into 40. yah, i'm still here, sorta. had a muscle test(emg) on my left leg, current normal, but muscle weak. i am due for a blood work up and a urine test, i have extra protein in my urine and they don't know why and this new doc wanted to check EVERYTHING. had to put off the bloodwork and urine test till monday or tuesday as i have to be fasting and i didn't have the time to run in for it on friday. i'm kinda dragn' butt these last few days. had a slumber party for my daughter on friday, she turned 8 on the second. and the weather has been really wild here, warm, cold, rainy, thunderstroms, blah, blah, blah... i seem to be going from one headache to another this last week and a half. been eating not the greatest and feeling it but i will be good from now on. thanks for thinking about me, blackwolf
  20. i can't lay flat at all, except for tests(mri, cat, etc.) i sleep at about 60+degrees, so i seem to be the exception to the rule. blackwolf
  21. boy, i'm just like that, only for me, it can be just the touch of my own clothes that sends me in a tailspin. i'm a huge fan of antibiotic creams with numbing agents in them for minor scratches and scrapes. there are alsohydrocortison creams. i also like a cream called "Swedish Bitters Capsaicin Cream" by natureworks, eventhough it has capsaicin cream in it, it doesn't "burn" like other capsaicin creams. i also take neurontin, currently i take 300 mgs, three times a day, but i can add one or two extra capsuls a day as needed. though i rarely do it, it does help on those really nasty days. i also take two asprin, twice a day. for completely nonmedicinal stuff, try pinching the skin between your thumb and pointer finger, down towards the joint, squeeze frimly for about 10-15 seconds. i hope it helps. blackwolf
  22. i use compazine, the only one that works for me besides vestril(sp?). if you are looking for general use type stuff, peppermint works for me also, like a candy. run a search, i think we went over a bunch of stuff one time. blackwolf
