  1. Thanks for that link. I read about half of it, but an going to read the second half after I'm done posting. I've been taking melatonin for a few weeks now, and that article scares me a bit. I think I'll stop taking it until I see my doctor. Thanks for the warning!!
  2. I've never noticed this...probably because I don't take my own pulse, but it makes sense! That's really interesting!
  3. This is a really good question. I think it all depends on the reason you get tachy. I don't really think there's much to do if you get tachy from POTS. If you have WPW or another condition, an ablation might be a good idea. If I were you, I would try to rule out as many conditions as possible before you have an EP study done.
  4. I have noticed that a lot of people who have POTS were very health conscience before they got sick. My doctor just told me to stop consuming artificial sweeteners because they can destroy the nervous system...so could we have POTS because artificial sweeteners messed up our nervous system?? Or am I just really foggy and wierd?
  5. The same thing happens to me. Yesterday I was sitting at my computer, and everything started to spin and move around me. I'm pretty sure my blood pressure dropped, and that's what caused the wierd feeling. It also happens when I stand up, but there's a delay. I'll start walking somewhere and after a few seconds of standing, my BP will drop.
  6. I have exactly what you're describing, but I never get fevers. My body temperature is always really low and I'm usually really cold. Sometimes I'll be hot and start sweating in a 68* room, though. It's so wierd and really annoying. It is all because of our autonomic Nervous system. We can't regulate body temp. so we freeze and sweat to compensate for out bodies. Sorry I can't help you! And I don't know anything about the fevers, so sorry!
  7. I'm not sure I can answer that question, but isn't it bad to drink alcohol if you have POTS?? I'm from a town where all the high school kids go out and drink on the weekends. I usually feel wierd when I'm around a lot of poeple that are drinking, but I won't give in because alcohol affects the way meds work and the way your nervous system works.
  8. The reason some people get symptomatic in the winter is because the drop in barametric pressure. That's also why some people feel worse before or during a storm. I am like ramakentesh...I thrive in the summer and barely survive the winter. This year, we're going to Florida to see how the warm weather affects me!
  9. Thanks Katherine!! Yeah, I am a teenager, but I usually try to eat healthy. It was just that my mom had bought ice cream and that is the one food I can't resist!! I also don't eat any kind of artificial sweetener. That stuff messes with your neurological system. I do use Stevia in my drinks, though. Today I started keeping a health diary. I write down everything I eat and drink, my symptoms, BP, and pulse. Hopefully it will help us find an answer that I can help my self with, instead of taking all these meds and everything!
  10. I'm so glad to hear your PCP is taking interest in POTS!! That's awesome to have a doctor interested in learning about your condition and wanting to help!!! I hope his attitude continues to be positive!!! Perhaps he will become a POTS specialtist!
  11. I'm glad to hear everything turned out okay, and that you qualify for Procrit shots. Good luck working with your insurance!!
  12. I've had compression tights for about a year now. I used to wear theones up to my waist, but recently switched to knee-highs. I've never noticed that I built a tolerence to them. I don't even notice a difference in my symptoms, but my doctor feels they help.
  13. Hi!! I am also from Ohio and am very lucky to live near two specialists!! I see Dr. Suarez regularly and Dr. Grubb about once a year. I'm glad you finally found out what's going on with your body...it's so frustrating!!! Good luck at your appointments!!! I'll be thinking of you!
  14. Does anyone have wierd reactions to eating a lot of sugar? Whenever I eat a lot of sugar, I get a stomach ache and diarhea(sp?). Does this happen to anyone else, or do you have another wierd reaction?
  15. Yeah, your symptoms sound like a typical POTS patient. Sorry you have to deal with it! But yes, it will get better. For you, I think you should be better when your stress levels return to normal and your life is back on track. Good luck with everyting!
  16. I am not positive where mine came from. I passed out in the 8th grade, and then started passing out 3 times a week, then up to 3 times a day, then it started to slow down and now it's about twice a month. My mom has low BP, but never anything serious like I have.
  17. That is great news Evie!! I'm glad you are able to exercise without passing out!!!!
  18. Wow, I have never heard of a shortage of tracers!! Can't they just make more?? I'm not sure what it's composed of, but there has to be a way to make it!! I'm sorry you can't get the test done as soon as you wanter (if I understand right). That is so hard to believe. I wish I could do something to help!
  19. I would just say those are signs of dysautonomia. I experience most of the symptoms you have, and I am diagnosed with only dysautonomia. Sorry I can't help you more. You're doctor could probably give you a med for the teachycardia and pain.
  20. Okay, I am diagnosed with POTS, NSC, and EDS. I am currently taking Flourinef, Zoloft, tons of herbs and salt. I still feel tired all the time. Fatigue and fainting are my worst symptoms. I just want a way to stop my fatigue. I was readying First (the magazine) and there was a story about a lady with hypoadrenia. Her symptoms sounded a lot like mine, so I want to ask my doctor if I maybe have it. Does anyone here have it? How is it diagnosed? And what meds do you take for it?
  21. I hope everything continues to go well. Good luck with all the tests!!!
  22. I think oxygen helps a lot when I am feeling faint. It has stopped me from pasing out on a few occasions, but I don't carry it around with me. If it helps you, then I would say GO FOR IT!!!
  23. The same thing happens to me when I sit in a hot tub. Just last weekend I was at a friend's house for a party. I was in the hot tub because they turned the temp. down for me. When I got out, I was standing up, and I passed out. Luckily, my cousin was there and he knew what to do, but hot water is not a good hting for us.
  24. I'm sorry you're going through a rough time. The truth is...I have no idea how I keep going. Don't get me wrong, I have some pretty horrible days, but I just make the best of what I have (not an easy thing to do)! There have been so many times that I was ready to die and willing to die, but I just wouldn't do it because of my family. I'm not sure if you feel that way, but your husband and kids love you, no matter how sick you are. Have you ever tried holistic healing or anything like that? Most people don't believe in it, but I would say anything is worth trying at your point. Perhaps it's something as simple as changing your diet or taking a few herbs. I would give that a shot. Good luck!!!
