  1. I notice that I've had some palpitations and some tachycardia. Just took an ativan to see if that would help. Anyone else have this problem?? These SSRIs are awful when first starting :0(
  2. On a different note, I had one dr who said many people with POTS feel better during pregnancy due to increased blood volume. I'm assuming after pregnancy you feel worse bc of the decrease in blood volume and your body trying to readjust..?
  3. I got POTS post viral. My dr told me it comes in waves-I'd do well for a while then have flare ups. My flare ups tend to last up to a year. In May 2012 I had a flare up and I'm still not doing all that well. I'm starting Zoloft again, which I believe helped before so I'm hoping it helps again..this illness is very unpredictable :0(
  4. Back on Zoloft after going off of it years ago. I can't remember what it was like when I first started before...is it common to have a headache and a "weird" feeling-not quite dizziness but I feel "off" if that makes any sense? I am taking .5mg of ativan for the first few weeks so hopefully I won't have tachy starting this med (I had horrible palps and tachy with Fluoxitine). I'm starting at 12.5mg so I'm wondering if I'll have these problems every time I increase....anyone have any advice, etc.? Also, how long do these effects last generally? I'm trying to hang in there...
  5. Starting the zoloft tomorrow because I have been symptomatic and honestly my anxiety seems to be taking over. My doctor told me I could start at 12.5mg. Has anyone had any problems starting with this dose? A few months back I started Prozac (fluoxetine) at 10mg and had horrible tachycardia and immediately discontinued it.
  6. This is not an easy illness to deal with by any means. I have tried numerous meds and have not tolerated any of them. The one med I did well on was Zoloft. I have anxiety as well but the Zoloft helped with both POTS and Anxiety. Do you have any friends who live close that you can reach out to? I have a hard enough time caring for myself, I can't imagine how hard it must be to have a little one. Try your hardest to keep hope, over time your symptoms may ease up. Please PM me if you need someone to talk to or Atleast listen :0)
  7. I drink alot of fluids before bed (of course I get up alot to pee) and drink a powerade and 20 oz of v-8 before even getting out of bed. I basically salt load and drink lots of fluids. If I don't drink fluids before bed I wake up dizzy, sweating, and tachy.
  8. I couldn't tolerate even 12.5mg of metoprolol. I felt weak and dizzy after taking it. Wish I could take the metoprolol bc I get palpitations alot, especially at bed time.
  9. I've been experiencing palpitations constantly before bedtime. They keep me up most nights. I cannot tolerate beta blockers, what else can help control the palpitations?
  10. I have always been told to get the shot. I got POTS from a viral infection, so I'm all set getting the flu.
  11. I take 3 courses online. I wouldn't be able to attend "live" classes due to my symptoms.
  12. Just wondering if anyone feels any benefits of salt loading as well as increasing fluids? I know they must help and that gettin dehydrated wouldn't be good, but why is my blood pressure still crappy? I even drink 20 ounces of v8 in the am and before bed then drink 16oz of water (as well as other fluids throughout the day) but I still feel crappy....
  13. I believe my cardio who did my First TTT 9 years ago did say there was decreased blood flow toy brain during the TTT.
  14. Ultima replenisher is the right drink I was thinking of! Thank you!! Have you tried that? The Nuun is okay but it has a weird alka seltzer taste to it-almost a tiny fizz...I also drink the original Nuun.
  15. I am diagnosed as having orthostatic hypotension..what I don't understand is why am I symptomatic even when I'm laying down???
  16. Nuun is pretty decent. There's also another drink my dr told me to try. I forget the name but will post it when it comes up. Also, for those who use nuun which hydration drink do you use?
  17. I drink atleast 3 liters of fluids a day. I drink water, powerade, and decaf tea. I was urinating alot and my doctor told me to increase my salt intake so I'd retain the fluid more.
  18. I had a fairly good appointment with autonic doctor...I'll make a new post!
  19. I used to avoid elevators because I'd feel so lightheaded. I can't do that anymore though because Stairs seem to bother me now.
  20. Tomorrow I have an appointment with a new autonomic doctor. I was going to another autonomic dr for 9 years but wasn't very satisfied with the care I was getting. I have heard wonderful things about Dr. Hohler, who I see tomorrow. I will let everyone know how I make out. Please send good vibes my way for a good appointment and hopefully some treatment that works.
  21. Where did you guys order them from? Also what was the cost for the full waist ones?
  22. I'm looking into getting some compression stockings that my dr recommended a while back. My insurance will not cover them and my dr said to get a higher strength..I saw mixed reviews from past posts regarding strength and waist high, knee high, etc. Can someone point me in the direction of a good, comfortable, affordable brand?
  23. When first diagnosed with POTS, I tested positive in the TTT; my heartrate increased rapidly and my Bp dropped. My last TTT showed delayed POTS. What's stranger to me though is that I was still symptomatic durin the "normal" times of the test-sweating, dizzy, nausea, etc. at one point my Bp dropped to 41/35 however my heart rate didn't increase, it stayed around 70...does this make sense?? I don't believe I even passed out, but my Bp did go that low...Do I still have POTS even though I'm symptomatic and my hr increases are delayed..?
