  10. Hi, glad you've found this site! Welcome! I don't have much to add, just that, as Gwendolyn has said, you may want to arrange to have a wheelchair take you from gate to gate. This may make things alot easier for you to manage. I hope you manage well! Laura.
  11. Hi guys! This procedure has been in use since 1985 primarily for conditions like tumours on the heart, or aortic valve disorders. I did find a couple of articles of studies done on animals with autotransplants for study of heartrate and blood pressure control. From the American Heart Association. Doesn't give too much info unfortunately, but might give you a better idea of what your doctor was thinking. Hope this is ok to post.... http://circ.ahajournals.org/cgi/content/abstract/35/4S1/I-96 http://circres.ahajournals.org/cgi/content...ract/18/S6/I-86
  12. Melissa, all the best for tomorrow! We'll be thinking of you.
  13. Melissa, I am definately with you and hoping for the best. Laura
  14. I lost alot of hair when on beta blockers. I had most of the thinning happening to my bang area and around my ears. After I was taken off the betablockers (they had no effect for me) my hair gradually started coming back in. oh, they did all the usual bloodwork at the time: thyroid, iron levels etc. All normal.
  15. How exciting Carmen! Keep us posted!
  16. Hi Maggs, sorry that you've been having such a rough time. It's such a challenge to get everything to balance in your body! I don't have much to add, but I thought that I would mention that Pedialyte contains a better mix of electrolytes than gatorade, although it costs more. You can get that in powder or in pre-made juice. You can also get an electrolyte powder from the health food store which can be mixed into any drink and can get sugar and flavour free if preferred. I imagine with the diarrhea, pain, nausea, vomitting, elevated white count, and inflammation that they also checked your appendix and checked for bladder infection? Things can be missed sometimes.... When do you get back in to be seen again? If you continue to feel rotten be sure to get in quickly. Hope you start to feel better soon. Laura
  17. Hi Ernie, I don't know of anyone to recommend, but I will keep an eye out and if ever I hear of anyone I will let you know. Laura.
  18. Hope you've had a great birthday!!

(hopefully these links work.) These are basic intro to what it is and what they do. Hope it helps. I hope you have a very good appointment tomorrow and be sure to voice all of your concerns. Laura. (if it is not ok to post these links, please delete as needed! I'm not sure how that works. thanks!)
  20. Lois, I've often wondered about this as well. I've not responded to any of the meds tried over the last two years and so am not medicated and have nothing that helps me through. I often wonder if things would be more managable with an ablation/pacer. Maggs, it wouldn't hurt to have the EP study done to make sure that you don't have any accessory pathways happening that could be contributing to your condition. It would give you more info about your situation at any rate, and you don't have to agree to have the ablation done. If an ablation is performed to eliminate an accessory pathway, that should not have any negative effects on your POTS. It will just eliminate that particular pathway which shouldn't be present. Try and do some online research, and have a look through some of the old posts on this topic for more info. Laura.
  21. I hope you've had a really good birthday!!
  22. Nina, so glad that he's home! Thinking of you all.

    My Birthday

Hope you have a great birthday!!!
  24. This sounds very concerning. When do you go back in to have the holter results read? I hope it is very soon. Seems like he should be admitted to hospital for a full evaluation till they figure out definately what is going on. Sounds like he's a pretty sick guy. Take good care of yourselves in the meantime and keep pushing for treatment.
