  1. Picking a doctor is NOTHING like picking a boyfriend. You are at the mercy of a quick face to face visit and a snap judgement with MDs and can only maintain a certain amount of control in the situation due to communications snafus (thru front desk, office people, voice mail, etc)..good or bad, depending on the doctors knowledge of the autonomic nervous system. Tachy you completely misunderstood my intent. I have had more struggles in 19 years than you can imagine with situations. Sometimes, life stinks..the deal is, can we sometimes fix the stink or learn to live with it? A personal relationship with friends or others is TOTALLY our choice. The medical system, depending on insurance companies...um..not so much. thus your sniping and attacks at my life are UNWARRANTED. Sorry Elfie...just want you to be safe. and no we can't afford cold AC in this house..78 and lots of fans in each room and ice water/Gatorade..and 100% cotton lightweight dresses. At night down to 76. or 75 in these high dewpoints! Peace out Peeps
  2. If one repeatedly goes from one abusive situation to another, the common denominator is YOU and the choices you make in partners. Folks are giving blanket statements because she asked and there are too many RED FLAGS to explain to the unenlightened. But peace of mind and being a lone is always better than being with somebody with conflict/drama/abusive/bad behavior. Some people do not LOVE THEMSELVES ENOUGH to have HIGHER STANDARDS. Learn to love yourself first, treat others by the Golden Rule. If you repeatedly attract cruel people find therapy or read books to find out WHY. It can be done. you have to learn to be selfish in HEALTHY ways AND give love to those worthy (that you want to live with or be with) There is a difference between that and being narcisstic and complaining too much....all which we can't tell from a message board. But living with hostility, thoughtlessness and cockroaches is something nobody deserves. The end.
  3. Never get yourself caught between a man?s actions and his promises. Or lack thereof. Only you can decide if you want peace or conflict. Good luck
  4. be careful the advice about waking up somebody who is VIOLENT. He could have sleep terrors or some other severe sleep disorders going on. Besides, you don't want to stay with somebody so unstable UNLESS you LOVE DRAMA..many people do. Not me Here is a link about sleep terrors http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/...70801091411.htm It's rare but folks can get VERY violent in sleep (not saying this will happen to you) but SLEEP IN SEPARATE ROOM! Do NOT try to awaken him as he is most likely going to experience arousal confusion My ex sleep doctor in the 90's studied a patient who murdered somebody in his sleep...it was a very complex case as the guy left his house...can't remember the final verdict...but my sleep doctor was on Oprah talking about it... Between your boyfriends treatment of you WHILE AWAKE, his thoughtlessness, and the sleep junk, who NEEDS THAT? YOU DESERVE BETTER!!
  5. to be blunt, why are you with him? he sounds thoughtless by making decisions w/o CONSULTING you..that's what a relationship is...or maybe he is a control freak. Impossible to tell from one post as I know nothing about you or him. but if you are asking, you probably already know he is not the man for you. People rarely change and unless you LOVE EMOTIONAL roller coasters and psychic vampires, I would be outta there. Good luck
  6. start getting all blood work drawn after you have lay down for 5 minutes, or longer if possible but often it is not. Since doing this, i've no more high sugar levels or high cortisol. After one false reading of 125 glucose when fasting I was given monitor to check my blood several times after diff types of meals, high carb, normal carb/protein/fat ratio. ALL NORMAL. My endocrinologist has checked over the years and now they draw blood at his office after my visit when I am calm and lying down. Just tell them you black out and they will let you lie down if the phlebot hassles you. If going to a new lab or hospital, call ahead to see if they have a bed or recliner for you to lie in to get blood drawn. That's what I have done in the past. Also the sausage biscuit probably did not cause the elevated sugar due to fact that the fat content in that would make it LOW on the glycemic index. A fat free ice cream or snack would elevate blood sugar it quicker, thus I am guessing your upright posture triggered the high readings. I can eat whatever I want though I DO have hypoglycemia but it's triggered by caffeine on empty stomach or low fat/no fat snacks. I do better eating pizza with pepperoni & cheese than say, a vegan low fat pizza. I get TERRIBLE reactions from high glycemic foods. Watermelon is another trigger even though it's 'natural' it's all sugar. The longer I am upright the catecholamines go crazy thus can spike different hormones in many of us (coritsol, glucose, etc) just my two pennies
  7. you may need to see an endocrinologist. I have one that treats my ANS (he is also a general practitioner as well as specialist. Many hormones can be out of whack causing body odors. For me I get times of horrible B.O. that does NOT go away after washing or using deoderant. My male hormones get out of balance..and this can happen as women age as well. So if the stink gets really bad, you might want to ask a doctor to check a series of hormones (can't tell you which been too long and too often over the years) Sometimes I need to take spironolactone but at a fraction dose as it also is a mild diuretic. Good luck
  8. Hang in there. Glad you are back at work. Get lots of rest as that helps with the stress affecting a person. Time heals many wounds but also remember 'Time wounds all heels!' Can't remember who said that...some sarcastic comedian. Good luck
  9. Aack!! had the AC break here on Sat 90's and dewpoint in 70's. panic. They fixed by 8.30 Good luck. You know the stress you have been under might be triggering your gastroperisis like symptoms. I feel big knot in stomach sensation...I feel full all the time and yes, eat just a bite and feel full. Get gall bladder check and watch fat and fiber in diet as suggested
  10. have you tried ginger root capsules from health food store or drug store? safe...even pregnant women take it. Good luck...I have that side effect a LOT. But I know it's new for you.
  11. Not to be a buzzkill but if you are trying to get disability Volunteering could put that in jeopardy. Seriously..if you think this is not true, you really need to join Disinissues private email group site. They aid you in gettind SSD or SSDI. If you can volunteer and commit to a schedule you can commit to a job is how they see it and I get their point. So be careful what you do. Also work from home jobs can cause issues if they find out. Drag I know but it's the facts of the messed up system. They care NOT one whit if you make $250 a month or what is called substantail gainful employment, It can get you in trouble. been there, done that. So join that group I mention.
  12. I remember when the book by two scientist was written..called Life Extension or something. it had pictures and info on this ear crease relating to heart disease deal. that was back in 1980 or early 80's. lost the book. HUGE THICK paperback. Interesting.
  13. I thought the only test for Dia Insipid is water deprivation tests. I had extreme thirst (still do but to lesser degree) and even tho i drank it was not huge amount but I could urinate a lot. some days worse than others...every 15 minutes and 5lbs of fluids in waking hours. 8 years ago On my own I researched this and heard of DDAVp. In one of many books on ANS problems I scanned either from hospital library where friend used to work or Grubb's edited SYNCOPE Mechanisms and management or an article DDAVP was mentioned. I ran it by my endocrinologist who had checked many other things. He gave me some samples and we decided to go by OBVIOUS clinical signs I had and not by what blood tests said. Those are guidelines and sometimes are bodies are tweaked differently. Since DDAVP helped me so much to hold FLUIDS even when salt and Florinef did not, I am on it years later as needed..most always at bedtime and sometimes during the day. NEVER heard of it helping with heat intolerance or sweating. I lost ability to perspire almost 85% years ago and even then not to heat but other stuff, stress or cold (feet or armpits) I still feel like crap in the heat. But DDAVP helps me to use less chapstick, and hold water as I mentioned. Not familiar with your test. Why isn't your doctor explaining it to you?
  14. glad he is home. Sorry about the screaming. It will be a huge adjustment for him and YOU treating the PICC line!
  15. gift creations I have NO clue to your question without knowing WHY you are asking it and details of when or how often or in what case your insulin levels are high. Did your past/current doctor find this to be true? More than once? Were you given a monitor? I have had hypoglycemia (LOW blood sugar) many times my entire life. so bad as a child it caused grand mal seizures on one occassion and other spells of weakness and almost going into a coma. (that an a host of other things we NOW know were ANS issues I was born with) The only time my fasting blood work came up high is after a 50 minute ride to my doctors office (astute endocrinologist that knows ANS as he is a diabetes specialist as well) We later extrapolated being upright stresses me and in the past caused high normal cortisol levels. I came up with glucose 125. I was given a glucose monitor and stuck myself about 10 times. ALWAYS NORMAL. I often feel weak when stuck for blood or afterwards. NowI ALWAYS LIE FLAT for blood work to be drawn now and no more fake high sugar levels. Or cortisol. I drink fluids afterwards, too.
  16. They said the same thing way back on DATELINE in 1998 I think....Just add SALT to your foods and it fixes you. I think it was before they had the eye doctor on with this illnessand did a good half hour or more on Dysautonomia. SHAME they never did a follow up...sigh. The over simplification of this illness and the name often linked with it, "Chronic Fatigue Syndrome" makes me wanna scream! So many over simplify the situation or act like most all 'get better' and return to normalcy. Good day for many is getting dressed, or taking a shower. It's HUGE for me to leave a house for long period of time without having to recline or put my feet up constantly. My record for being gone from the house (without lying on the couch as I visit somebody) is 4 hours. Somebody needs to do a real documentary or real reality show on this...but I detest reality shows and don't give them my energy...but y'all know what I mean. Still a mention in a mainstream mag beats nothing. If you could find an email to the person who wrote it or the magazine many of us would LOVE to give our two cents and ask for a follow up, lol.
  17. Congratulations!!!!!!!!! Sounds scary the complications...my neice in law in Seattle had that in early pregnancy and was on COMPLETE bed rest for weeks or months (forget now) BUT she just gave birth a healthy BOY last TuesdaYy. (**dang, can't believe I had to edit..she had a boy!! not a girl**)
  18. So glad for the update, Angelika!! i will continue to send thoughts and prayers your way. xoxo
  19. Angela.. I am so sorry to read of what is going on still. I wish you coulda put this on the front page as few come to this board. Thoughts and prayers to you and the doctor team. Glad you are able to be there with him to kick some butt..and glad your church is supporting you at this trying time. xoxo
  20. "Bjure-Laurell syndrome" I would LOVE to see this name adapted for P.O.T.S. You try to explain this illness with POTS and you always get giggles, which depending on my mood I do not find comforting at all. I say I have problems with gravity and upright posture, to start with and other complexities. POTS may be good for umbrella term but much like my INITIAL dx of "Chronic Fatigue Syndrome" is insulting. Like calling TB chronic cough syndrome or Diabetes Chronic Thirst syndrome.
  21. I get symptomatic after blood vials are taken if dehydrated (I stay dehyrdated to some degree) I get flu symptoms after blood is drawn, achy, severely fatigued a few hours aftewards. I RARELY have fasting blood work but that would worsen it. Also I ahve blood drawn LYING FLAT and have a snack or drink before getting up..and drink extra fluids but not too many carbs aftewards. Feel bitter
  22. never heard of taking a family pet dog and turning it into a "service dog". Lots stricter about that in most places in USA. Maybe your state is different? Indeed, SPECIAL TRAINERS have to train these dogs for MONTHS and months. Not something done at obedience training
  23. In the NDRF conference tapes, Dr. Grubb explains how EVERYTHING in our body is influenced by ANS. The stretching of the bladder/rectum causes symptoms. So going to the bathroom ALSO triggers. I have mentioned this numerous times before..there is bladder syncope and defecation syncope. At least I read it years ago in ANS books articles. hope this helps. Tho exhausting it can be normal..just rest afterwards
  24. Welcome Harry. Glad you are finding this forum helpful, along with the kilts.
  25. WOW. glad Dan was there for you. That surgeon sounds like a &%* jerk. I'd like to tie a not in his ureters and not allow him to pee...how iNSENSITIVE. Hope things get back to your baseline soon.
