  1. I'm not sure if they are saying the heart actually stops or what. I went back and read the article and they are using the term "reflex anoic seizure" interchangably with "vasovagal syncope" ,so, I don't know. I just had never heard the term and was trying to see if anyone else had. Becia, me too!
  2. http://www.stars.org.uk/patient-info/conditions/ras A type of seizure/syncope? Do you have this or have you heard of it?
  3. I took it also but with no help or hurt so we stopped. Good luck.
  4. Awesome news Andy!! Hope the tests reveal some answers for you and that you get to feeling much better. Let us know. I don't have any test suggestions.
  5. I've had multiple prescribed to me and all the dr's say that the blood clot risk is really low, however, the first immediate thing I see when opening the packing in capital, bold letters, is that blood clots are a potential, life threatening side effect. It really, really freaks me out. I've had the progestin only rod that is inserted in your arm called implanon, I'm not sure how it does with POTS because I had it prior to. I have a girl at work who got that essure procedure done, said she is really pleased. I don't think it affects the cycle/... pots symptoms as it is just a straight non hormonal, non reversible birth control. I'd love to read everyone else's answers here . My symptoms are SO much worse before, during and after my period. I used to say that I have one good week per month, now they're all crappy, so..... Good luck, hope someone has some good answers for us!!
  6. First of all, It's good that you became very symptomatic (passed out), etc for the doctor. It's sometimes one of those things where, while at the dr office, nothing happens but the moment you get home, symptoms are spiking out of control. I hope the new medicine they gave you helps you more than the others did. I also developed POTS after my second child!!! As I read your statements and you said you jogged 40 minutes the day prior, that is exactly what I wanted to post on here is that, why can I be ok (not really ok but not dying from) doing activity/chores/etc one moment but not be able to walk up the stairs or down the hall/street another time and feel like death. For example, I did some yard work last weekend and yes I feel really crappy doing it but it was doable. Other days, sitting on the train, riding home feels like I'm going to die... I don't understand. anyways, hope that the answers you got were satisfying and that the new meds help!
  7. Hanice I have that exact thing you describe like cold water in my chest, it's really freaky. I don't really have a "weird" symptom other than that. My vision goes nearly black a lot, I assumed it had something to do with he pre-syncope and not getting enough oxygen or something.
  8. Oh wow, I am so sorry for what you have went through! I feel bad that you feel so bad but glad you kind of have an answer now. I'm not sure why the proamitine (is that midodrine, right?) wouldn't alleviate some of the passing out. Maybe if that one doesn't help they could try the flourocortisone (i know that is spelled wrong) but hopefully something can help soon. Yay for Dave and his wife. Having good people around who care and understand is very helpful! I'm sorry you had to quit a job that you really enjoyed. As far as where to go for info, I can't really answer that as I'm not so certain myself. Most doctors that I've been to know about as much or less of POTS than I do. I think this forum is a really good spot for answers and advice, a lot of people on here are very knowledgeable!!! For your PVCs, aside from the ablation, is there a medicine to give for that to maybe help out? Could the passing out be from the PVC themselves in addition to the POTS? Anywyas, I really hope you are having a better day and I hope some peoples on here can help with some answers and advice for you.
  9. If you are dizzy, have presyncope, increased HR, etc and nothing else has showed up on other various tests, I'd say that you surely have POTS or some other form of dysautonomia. It's not normal for the HR to increase like that as far as I am aware. There is a normal jump but not that much. I know how you feel and having kids as well, it's tough and living a normal life is SO hard. I really hope this DR can help you to feel better!!!! good luck
  10. I get this feeling too and you're right, the only thing I can explain it as is "feels like I'm dying". reading as well as other daily activities. I wasn't vegan but I was vegetarian for 7 years and my GP swore up and down that was the reason I was so sick. He suggested on multiple occasions I start eating meat again and it wasn't until months later that I gave in (because I had tried every otehr option available) It still didn't help. He was wrong, not that I thought he'd be right but I tried anyways.
  11. All this exercise talk is easier said than done. I love when a cardiologist tells me to do cardio and I must look dumbfounded because I'm thinking, I came in here to you today because I'm lightheaded, tachy and can barely stand yet I was prescribed cardio as a remedy. It's funny! I guess we just take baby steps and work our way up. I would suggest walking, I know even that can be difficult, I know that it is for me. You could do some sitting exercises. I do these butt kicks (donkey kicks) and I know it's not a "cardio" thing but my heart sure does feel like it's going to explode after all that. I say, every little bit counts and adds up, so, maybe today and this week, do 3-5 minutes of something. Next week add on 3-5 minutes, etc.
  12. yay, that's awesome! Glad it went well or as well as could go. I hope the new meds help you out and get you feeling better
  13. Thanks for posting, I really want to read this but it keeps freezing up on my computer for some reason, I'm going to try again later!
  14. Happy Birthday!!! sorry you feel so unwell. I'm not one of the smarter one's on here but wanted to chime in and say that the 48bpm isn't too badly low. My holter showed lowest 40 and highest 170. Was it just sitting around and 48 or laying down? That seems normal for laying back. I also have really low vitamin D, 20 I think, on the scale. Anyways, I don't have any suggestions for you but I hope someone else does and I hope you feel better. that last sentence where you describe the vision going out and about to faint, that's me all the time. I hate it soooooo bad, very scary. I also don't go out with the kids alone or at all really, I'm not driving and haven't been for awhile now. Good luck.....
  15. I'm sorry about your daughter, I forgot to say that to begin with, hope she isn't having many symptoms or problems. Glad that the iron helps though and that she can tell a difference being on it and not. 200mg sounds like a lot but maybe doing it for a short period would boost her up and then do a maintenence amount after that, I don't know though, like you say, the iron overdose warning would freak me out too. I kind of like the green shakes, it's the only way I'll eat my greens My daughter doesn't like them either, so, I understand that part. Hope you both have a good day!!!
  16. I'm curious what the difference between elemental iron and the supplements at the vitamin store which are ferrous sulfate, I think. I think looking online is a good option if the pharmacy and doctor both can not help. As long as it's from a reputable source it should be fine!
  17. It definitely sounds like that could have been what caused everything. Of course, like others say, maybe ask your gyn what they think, but that much seems like it could surely trigger something. If so, I hope it is something that can wear off and get better for you, that would be wonderful!! Hope you get to feeling better.
  18. Hi and welcome. I'm sorry you're unwell. I was also given nitro and was as close to being passed out without actually being passed out. I believe that experience (HR 180, BP 40/20, nausea, sweating, etc etc) was worse than childbirth seriously. Speaking of, you mention having a young family. Did your symptoms begin after having a child by chance? Mine did and I'm almost positive it's all correlated. If not the birth, the hormones for sure! Aside from the muscle weakness I share the same symptoms as you do. I'm sorry for what you're going though and wish I had some good suggestions but I don't, just wanted to say welcome and that we understand!
  19. For me, the 'seizury' head feeling is kind of lightheadedness, feeling about to pass out or have a seizure (although I haven't knowingly had one, this is what I imagine it to feel like). It's a feeling I can't control or make better. My head feels heavy, stuffed, dizzy, weird, it's so hard to explain as I'm sure all of you know. It's almost as if it's congested and not clear. It feels as if I took some meds or a vacuum and cleaned my head out, it'd be "clear" and not feel that way.
  20. Hello statesof. Sorry you feel unwell. I'm not quite sure about the negative head feeling, I don't know I completely understand what you're describing. I get what I call "seizurey" head feeling. I get the depersonalization and visual disturbances definitely. Aside from feeling lightheaded and that being my most uncomfortable and challenging symptom. The weird head feelings i get are very concerning/disturbing.
  21. I saw this on facebook as well and thought it was quite inspirational. I can not currently exercise to the extent of most of the people on the video but to know they are sick and still can do that sort of stuff gives hope to me.
  22. Hello Hanice. I developed POTS after I had my son. I lost a lot of blood in the hospital and for multiple months afterwards until two ER visits later they discovered placenta still inside. I was lucky it did not get infected and hurt me worse but I had to have a D&C. I was really weak for the months following but didn't have POTS set in until October (had my son in February). It was sudden and harsh. Very scary stuff.
  23. Leigh, glad you feel better during that week, not sure what the reason though. I'm like Naomi, the week prior to is my best week. I think it has something to do with the increased progesterone, I wonder what it does in the body in regards to POTS, etc.
