  1. Hi Maxine, I am surprised that the doctor did not give you recovery time. I would ask him to have recovery time when he takes the loop off, especially since you are worst than 3 years ago. It seems that you had an adrenaline rush 3 years ago. So you have to avoid standing up for some time. If the doctor does not agree to recovery time plan an alternative. I sometimes bring a small camping mattress with me when I have blood tests and I am not sure to have a bed. This way I just lie down on the floor on my mattress. I used it about 5 times so far. I will be thinking of you. Keep us posted on how it goes.
  2. Hi, You might be coming up with a virus of some sort. I can't wait for the miracle pill also!
  3. Hi, I come from a family of fainters. We have 6 known generations of POTS and NCS in my family. What I can suggest is to read and research as much as you can, and tell her to avoid her triggers as much as possible. Inform the school of her condition and give them a phone number to call in case of emergency. It's hard to predict her future as in my family we have the same gene but not everyone is disabled. So each case is different even with the same gene.
  4. Hi Melissa, I will keep sending positive thoughts for you. I hope you have your surgery tomorrow. It's nice to sleep in our own bed.
  5. Hi Flop, It's nice to hear from you. I can't image the pain you are having right now. You must be so eager to have your hip back in place. I will be sending you positive thoughts.
  6. Hi, Welcome aboard. I saw Dr Grubb in 2007 and I was satisfied with his appointment. He is the one that prescribes most of my meds.
  7. Hi, I would check with a cardiologist or EP.
  8. Hi, Mine is genetic but when I am fasting I am much worst.
  9. My Dear Friends, I am back from the hospital. I just have a few minutes ago. Thanks for sending me positive thought and answering my post. Everything went fine. The doctors were wonderful and took really good care of me. It's the first time (besides NIH) that I get so well treated. I had IVs all the time I was there and it made a huge difference. I did not faint or paralyse at all. I am so excited about being so well treated that I am on cloud nine.
  10. Sweet Melissa, That's so bad that you have another infection. I will be sending you positive thoughts.
  11. Hi, This is a genetic disorder and I will never be cured. Don't trust doctors off the bat. Let them prove themselves first. Believe in yourself an trust your guts feeling.
  12. Hi Linda, I am sorry you are still in the hospital. I am followed in a teaching hospital and this is the best for me because they also do research and I am a research case. I went to regular hospital and they don't do anything for me.
  13. Hi Flop, What a mess! Must be very painful. I hope your meds will be able to control the pain or make it a least tolerable. I'll be sending positve thoughts your way.
  14. Hi, 60s/30s for me is too low because I faint before it hits that number. When the BP is too low your vital organs are not properly nourished.
  15. Hi, Thank you for your kind wishes and the nice flower. I'm a bit nervous because I asked to have the colonoscopy cold turkey and I hope they will do so because I cannot tolerate Versed and many other meds. I also hope I will be able to manage the pain during the procedure. I'll write you when I come out of the hospital. I will be thinking of all of you. Love
  16. Hi everyone, I am going to the hospital for 2-3 days and I am leaving at noon today. I have a colonoscopy + biopsy and because of the severe syncope and paralysis when fasting my doctor hospitalises me. So I hope I will be back home Saturday. Love you all.
  17. Hi, I had them made at Ortho-Concept. You can also go to Medicus. The lady measures every part of your leg and abdomen so they fit like a second skin. They are so much more comfortable because the pressure is equal everywhere. My old ones had more pressure on the thighs and the abdomen but these are balanced. They give me more standing time than the 30-40mm.
  18. Hi, I had catecholamines tested and found out my adrenals are hyperactive.
  19. Hi, Often my BP rises even to 210/170 when I stand then it crashes to 0 in a few seconds. I still take meds to increase my BP.
  20. Hi, Mine are Mediven. I don't know how it will in the next days to put them on but I surely find them very confortable once they are on. I realise that the regular ones were to tight on the thighs and the abdomen and were irritating my skin. These one are so easy to pull down and on when we do our business that I will not need to keep my bladder full as long. So far, I had them since noon and my skin is not irritated and will probably wear them until I go to bed. Usually when I wear the regular I take them off as soon as I get home and wear the stockings. Thanks for suggesting the higher compression.
  21. Hi, I just got my new pair of 40-50 mm compression hose. They are especially made for me and cost twice as much as the regular ones. They are soooo comfortable. I had such a hard time getting them on. I had to stop because I had no strenght left in my arms. The lady had to help me finish the job to put them on. If I can manage to put them on alone I will certainly buy more of the same. It is my first pair custom made and also the first 40-50 mm. I had always had 30-40 mm until today. There is a difference in orthostatic tolerance.
  22. Hi, Thanks for the advice. I will buy one is close to 500$ including taxes because that is what the insurance covers. Also, I heard that when you can very the style of wave your body has less chance of getting used to it. The lower price model has only 1 or 2 types of waves.
  23. Hi, I don't know which can of APNEA I have but I use a CPAP which is very useful. I would ask for a sleep study.
