  1. Welcome to the forum, Shannon! Michelle
  2. Hi guys, Why don't those of you who have ideas for improvements get together and compile the lists you are suggesting? Then Nina, Melissa and I can go over them and incorporate what is feasible into the lists we already have, or start a new list depending on what you come up with. Just remember, links must be to reputable sources. If you create instructions on how to use the forum I will have someone who has never used the forum sit down and test them out to make sure everything is covered and easy to understand. I'll be looking forward to seeing what you come up with. You can send your lists to me at Michelle@potsplace.com or just use snail mail: DINET PO Box 55 Brooklyn, MI 49230 Thanks, Michelle
  3. Thanks for the suggestions, guys. It has been a little difficult to add a Q&A section because so many doctors have so many different theories as to what is going on with us. That is why I have pages like "mechanisms" that explains the many different theories out there. However, I am going to think about what you have proposed a bit more. There is a built in "Help" page for the forum at the top, right hand side. Here is the direct link: http://dinet.ipbhost.com/index.php?act=Help Take care, Michelle
  4. There are also close to 400 extra DINET members who do not participate in the Meet Others Program, and therefore were not included on the map. Some of those "extras" do not have dysautonomia, but have signed up out of curiosity or are medical professionals who want to learn more. As such, they were not included. The map only reflects those members who joined DINET's Meet Others Program, so keep in mind that it is really not a true representation of all the dysautonomia patients out there. Michelle
  5. Ditto to all the above. Take care of yourself and don't worry about the forum. We appreciate you so much and miss you when you're gone, but we also understand that you need to take care of yourself. Michelle
  6. I knew that is not what you meant, but as someone was bound to ask I posted my thoughts on the study. Michelle
  7. The information regarding false research findings was in no way meant to reflect my thoughts on Dr. Esler's study. I am waiting to read the published article before I draw any conclusions as to who it might help. I too looked for information on this study in JAMA and was not able to locate it there or on Medline. Michelle
  8. You can read it at: http://www.dinet.org/Fall2005/fall05news1.htm Michelle Sawicki
  9. I think you have had the final answer here, Sophia. I'm not going to argue with you. We obviously disagree about the focus of your post. Michelle
  10. Not offensive, just off topic. The moderators here have an enormous job trying to keep up with all that is posted each day. We ask that you please stick to posting about dysautonomia. Perhaps I missed something in the original post, but as I remember the focus of the post was about a cake you made that turned out sideways. Cute, but off-topic posts keep us extra busy when we are having a hard time keeping up with the posts as is. Take care, Michelle
  11. Sorry guys, the post was removed as it was off topic. Michelle
  12. Thanks for continuing to work on the list. Emily, it is great to hear you were able to get someone to help you. I appreciate your diligence. Michelle
  13. As Nina said, the brochures are not very big. Donations are appreciated, but not required to receive brochures. Michelle
  14. I wrote the brochure and then sent it to Dr. Stewart, who added revisons. Glad you guys like it. I have noticed a definite increase in membership since sending out the first batch to doctors. Michelle
  15. Hi, Thanks for wanting to do something! If everyone did "something" many more people would know about dysautonomia. As previously stated, we are currently getting the word out there through an informational brochure campaign. We also sent letters out to all of the doctors on our physicians' list, hoping to gather information that they created on these disorders to pass onto our members. Unfortunately that campaign wasn't very successful. We are always trying to think of ways we can spread the word. We usually stick to running one campaign at a time, mostly because our funds are limited. If you would like to help in the future, please send me an email and we can talk further. Thanks! Michelle
  16. Just wanted to let you guys know in advance that the forum will be upgraded in the next few days. Hopefully all will go smooth, but if there are any problems you will know why. Michelle
  17. You're welcome! I was very happy we were able to make them available. Michelle
  18. My sister saw Dr. Rogers. She said he was very nice. I've heard he does not prescribe beta blockers as a first line of treatment. I've seen a doc at UofM. If you want to PM me I can tell you more about my experience. Michelle
  19. Get a dozen DINET informational brochures FREE! To order your brochures simply fill out the form at: http://www.dinet.org/memberbrochures.htm One dozen brochures available per DINET member. Supplies are limited. DINET appreciates donations supporting this project.
  20. Sadly, yes I can believe it. After running a forum for a couple of years now, I can believe anything. People gripe about our forum rules, but this is a prime example of why they were put into place. We've had similarly nasty people here, but because of the forum rules they didn't last long. I'm sorry you got such a mean reply, Persephone. Is there any way you can contact the forum administrators and see if they can delete this post and block the person from posting again? Michelle
  21. Ditto what Nina said. There are no hard feelings on my part. Let's just move on. Michelle
  22. An United Kingdom doctor recently signed up for our physicians' list. I know many of you in the UK have had a hard time finding a doctor near you. I know nothing about this doctor, but thought I would pass his information on to you: Dr John Bayliss FRCP Cardiology Dept, West Hertfordshire Hospitals Hemel Hempstead Hertfordshire HP2 4AD 01442 287087 Dr. Bayliss is a Cardiologist with more than 20 years experience helping people with neurocardiogenic syncope and related problems such as POTS.?
