  1. I bought socks marketed for diabetics- I actually lent them to someone and never got them back. Of course fit is SOOO important for this stuff. I'd quess that the Skins would be too stretchy for you. I just haven't found anything to be as effective but when you are exercising I think skins are great. I forgot to mention that. I'm inferring that you do yoga? I would absolutely recommend the skins for yoga, Pilates, biking etc. They are very comfortable. Thanks for the info on Zoot. I could see them working for me around the house. Oops. Sorry I saw you do exercise- I totally recommend skins instead of "yoga" pants.
  2. There are pros and cons. I have both. Honestly the medical compression hose works better for me. I have Skins. They were expensive and are very comfortable. They are better than nothing but if you have ever had basic running tights you know pretty much how they feel. I like the articulated knees and they are easier to deal with for bathroom trips. I think I pool in my feet so full length works best but I rarely wear them. various Spanxs items are easy to hide under street clothing but not as effective. Also knee high compression socks are helpful. I feel much better with medical support hose compression- It's just such a pain and hot sometimes. I've even layered compression - spanxs with compression sport leggings and compression socks. The reality if it's not comfortable I don't wear it like I should. EDIT: I looked up your links and my guess is that the Skins are not like the Zoot. I intentionally bought mine to be tight and they still are not quite enough. The are super soft, smooth, and stretchy. It's hard to explain my my "real" compression stockings have a firmness to the fabric. Skins have a lot of give.
  3. Just wanted to add like Pink mentioned, I also used EnteroLab. Dr. Whals had her family members tested trough this lab (I just read her new book). In my case it was completely accurate. It also showed that I react to casein (a dairy protein). I'm just now starting to deal with that. Please consider that many people don't feel better off of gluten for a LONG time. I think it took me over six months but I'm not really sure. I'm convinced I never had "IBS", It was gluten. It also is oddly helpful now that if I get gluten accidentally, I'm really sick. Don't mean to monopolize your post but I'm totally a convert
  4. Mighty Mouse- I hear you on the scientist perspective. We want our proof. I'm dealing with a similar predicament with my son. Long story short he isn't thriving and I put him on a gluten free diet. His genetic testing came back negative for celiac. The thing is my husband and I think he is better off of gluten. His dark circles are disappearing and he is sleeping better. When his labs came back as non- celiac my husband and I made the decision to keep him gluten free for a few more months. He has no gi symptom so It's seems hard to believe that food would be the culprit. It's not matter of him getting healthier food- in fact I've been trying to get him to eat candy bars and drink chocolate milk and juices to up his calorie count. I babble on to suggest that it won't hurt you to try it. Science as you know is and art and we don't have all of the answers. I like to measure things and tick off neat little boxes. With my son we've decided that gluten free won't hurt him. I realize you know much more about diets than I do and with paleo and gluten free you must really know how to read a food label. I wonder if you have considered a hard core elimination diet really eating foods in isolation to see if you can pinpoint problems. Our meals are so mixed it its hard to know what is what. I'm probably not helping. I just want to encourage you. If you want to try Gaps... I know you can do it. You are Mighty Mouse after all! It doesn't have to be forever.
  5. I can't speak to paleo, but I've been gluten free for 4 or 5 years. I rarely get migraines any longer. I used to have migraines and "headaches". I only know the difference really beacause of visual auras. I used to see sideways lightning strikes. I know it seems daunting but I cannot recomend gluten free enough. It's helped me immensely.
  6. I've been toying with the Wahl's diet. I am finding dairy free to be quite difficult. I also detest organ meats. My compromise has been to start a high quality co Q10. I know it's not the same thing, but you may want to incorporate parts of the diet and see where you end up. Maybe adding the broths would be a good place to start? I get overwhelmed if I think long term. I never thought I could remain gluten free but I have done it successfully and I don't cheat. You can just tell yourself that it's short term and give yourself a mental "out". If you feel better you may decide it's worth continuing. I'm sorry I'm not answering your question. I read about the diet because of your post. My initial reaction was that its not like you are avoiding a food due to allergy or other immune response. Maybe you can cherry pick parts of the diet and see some improvement.
  7. I'm just putting it out there- this really doesn't sound right. I've been to mayo mn and mayo jacksonville. Kitt is absolute right about what happens in Rochester. Jacksonville is a smaller Mayo but Mayo nonetheless. I've been in both autonomic labs. It's almost disorienting because they are so similar. Even the information desks look the same. What doctor (s) did you see in Jacksonville?
  8. I'm not confident that I can help but I will tell you that Mayo told me no more than 50% free water. I was crazy thirsty for so long and drank too much. I ended up in the er several times with moderately low sodium I know it's not cheap but if you can drink pedialyte or v8 for a week you may notice a difference. I almost cried when I read your post, I remember the misery. Now that I drink less water and more salty drinks I am so much better.
  9. My mom's pacemaker won't let her heart go above a preset rate or below a preset rate. When she first got it they had it set too low. Anyway it must depend on what kind you get or need. I asked her about it this morning just to make sure I had my facts straight.
  10. Pacemakers have come a long way and my mom's does help tachycardia. It won't let her heart beat above a certain number. They are pretty fancy these days.
  11. Becia- I don't have much time for a long response. Just wanted to let you know that I do understand and I'm sorry. Doctor visit days are difficult on so many levels. Sounds like this one was a brain full. My mom has a pacemaker. She had no choice because her heart was stopping. Sorry I have no words of wisdom or real advice for you. Just wanted to let you know I can empathize.
  12. Yes- they do. Also pamala's mixes are pretty good. We also use gluten free bisquick.
  13. If you mean flour I like king authur.
  14. Do you mean a bread mix? Or like a pre- blended all purpose type flour?
  15. Thanks kitt! I'm going to watch that when the Golf is over
  16. Also does anyone want to share juicing recipes? Maybe we could do that on the chit-chat? Nutrition is a big component for me and I'm always open to learning more.
  17. Kitt do you eat seaweed or use iodized salt when consuming kale etc? I'm not always confident in how much is too much.
  18. Ginger can lower blood pressure.
  19. I can't say anything about the quality of the Nutribullet because I've only been using it for 2 weeks. My old oyster blender held up well. Both go into the dishwasher (I rinse the blades in the sink). The juicer I had was a hot mess to clean. I actually gave it to a friend. One tip for what it's worth- I look for things with fewer pieces. My blender had 2 pieces. The Nutribullet is the same. I also think it's important to not over do juicing. You could accidently raise your potassium- I add salt for this reason. I also would juice more veggies than realistically a human could eat in a day. Yes I do think I feel better. Also nutrition is something I can control. I think minerals are important for me. I wouldn't eat Beet tops but I can drink them
  20. Our Walmart now has "Rudi's" and we really don't like it ( I did want to share that I made Bob's Red mill raisin bread with egg whites instead of whole eggs. It was a hit.
  21. Absolutely yes! I was so much sicker with undiagnosed allegies. Histamine is a vasodilator. I'm sure other factors come into play, but allegies make my dysautonomia much worse. I hope you feel better soon. Some people do well with Claritin and Zyrtec. I also use a saline rinse and a nose spray. Spring in the northeast is beautiful but hard when you have allegies.
  22. I used my blender for a long time. I also didn't like my juicer. My parents got a Nutribullet as gift and didn't take it out of the box. I started using it and it works very well. The clean up is very easy. I agree with Merlin. I always add iodized salt to my "smoothies" and honestly they taste disgusting because I rarely use fruit. I use beets roots and greens, avacado, flax seed, spinich, watercress- you get the idea. . Yucky! I'm careful not to overdo it. I know veggies like kale in excess are bad for your thyroid. I also use berries. I do soups and add additional oysters and clams. Recently I've been also adding seaweed to my soups. YUCK, I have to say the more disgusting my food is, the better I feel. I'm over 40 and went for a haircut today. I was surprised when 2 people commented on how beautiful my skin is. I really think it's all of the extra veggies. My tip on drinking a veggie juice is to used a straw. It's easier somehow when it tastes so bad.
  23. Could you try another "fermented" food?
