how do you feel at the end of the day?

Recommended Posts

This is a hallmark of POTS. I can get that way, sometimes, after just standing for 30 minutes or more. I have to sit down or lie down to recover for a few minutes. If I am walking, moving around, it doesn't happen.

Fortunately I have a job that mostly involves sitting.

In general, I tend to feel best in the evening and worst in the mornings.

I'm like geneva, for some reason my autonomic system tends to do better in the early evening. But since I'm not a night owl, I really have only a few short hours to "feel like myself" on a good day.

I also get the "shakes" if I have over done it. As hard as it is for me, I now try to allow my body to have all the shaking it wants -- ever watch a dog or cat run into a wall? They step back and shake it off. Hmmm.....

When I first got POTS, I used to have a terrible time in the morning. I would feel dizzy, nauseous, etc. But these days I actually prefer mornings to the evenings. I think it has to do with my beta blocker wearing off towards the evenings.

That being said, I definitely get wiped out after being on my feet for a moderate amount of time. I am lucky that I have a desk job. In terms of running errands and doing other activities, I have to space them out and limit how much I do during each day in order to be able to tolerate them.

I too am not able to stand for very long 15-20 min max is all I can do. I really have changed from a mid morning person to evening late night person. That is part of the sleep disorders tht occur from this. Sadly my "SHOP TILL YOU DROP" days are short. My husbans is even sad that my "sport" has changed. I also think this changes over time for us. I too spend most of my day sitting rather than standing, but at times if i feel ok i can go for a long walk in the evening - and i ony get a littel liht headed towards the end.

The mornings are always the worst.

I feel ok, then i have a salty breakfast and i feel good for about two hours, then i dip for about two hours and then i gradually improve.

But if im exhausted from standing beyond my limit = or even sitting all day, i gat so shaky and irritable.

I tend to have a feeling of a burst of energy around dinner time and then afterwards I tend to crash. It is often when I am sitting on the sofa after dinner that my body feels so tired of trying to balance both my blood pressure and heart rate all day that I get my worst symptoms then. I will feel a drop in blood pressure and a drop in heart rate. I dislike this feeling more than any of my other symptoms!

i also feel woozy and just plain like the blood is leaving my head and chest.

anyone have tips for stopping the shaking, adrenaline in the eves??? lying down doesn't help me stop it really...sometimes i'm up all night.

i take a beta-blocker in the morning and a dose in the eve too to keep it more even in my system...

The only thing that helps my tremors and that gross feeling is a tiny extra dose of my valium. I mean like a quarter to a half pill. My best friend had to go to the hospital last Sunday. There's something wrong with her liver or something. Talk about non supprtive families! The only time they love her is when they need something, so we ended up taking her. She didn't get admitted till 3 am! :o I was SOOOOOOOO dead. Then the only time I could get back was before my hubby went to work at 7 am. You just have to have an advocate anymore or they'll just let you die I swear. Anyway, I have been there everday from 6:30 am till 9:00 pm. I found when I got home I was so exhausted I thought I was going to croak, but I couldn't get settled down to go to sleep. It was awful. Then while she's been in there, I've started having my "spells" again. (flushing, arrythmias, nausea, and my bp skyrocketing) It takes it about an hour and a half to go away. But I just feel terrible the whole time. So she's wanting me to do stuff for her and all I want to do is lie down till it goes away. A nurse there took my bp and it was 180/100. It's been runiing a lot lower. When I got home it was 110/60. Gees :( But I just have to wait for my body to settle down, and then I go to bed and dream all night so wake up feeling like I never slept and then try and get through another day, till eve when I feel awful again. It's like this viscious cycle every day. We took her home tonight and I just had to tell her that if she needed someone to stay, she would just have to call her daughter, I am so fried. But here I sit unable to go to sleep....ARGH  morgan

Hi I find that I get more energy around 6-7 in the evening, that is when I am able to get a few things done. Iam usuaully bad off during the day, especially when I first wake up.

I am a nurse so I run all day long, 12 hour shifts . when I get home I feel like I have been run over by a train. I spend my days off just trying to recuperate so I can work my next shift. I sit down as often as I can to talk to my patients, so they think I am just great because I take the time to listen. All any of us can do is try our hardest and not give up on ourselves or each other. I just do a little at a time at home and pick my priorities. I did get a state disability car placard so that I can park closer at work and at stores. I still park farther away at work but in the visitor garage which is 1/2 mile closer than employee parking. some days I do great, others it is a miracle to make it to the bathroom without having to sit down. good luck joyce
