  1. I did a search on the web. I should have done that before posting. From my reading a vascular headache is just a type of migraine. So it's probally my type. I think I'll start recoding my BP along with the headaches to see if changes in bp has any effect.
  2. I have 15+ headaches/migraines a month. Just started 2 months ago. Never experienced this before. Anyways I read all the postings on headaches and some of you mention vascular headaches. my neuro never told me which kind I have. She gave me migraine meds so I just assumed they are migraines. I get them sometimes when I wake in the morning, but usually when I've been up and around. They come more toward the evenings. I feel like there is not enough blood or oxygen getting to my head. It a weird feeling. So all you headache potters can you tell me how do you know if they are vasular? sorry if I misspell alot. My vision has been alittle blurry since pots. dayna
  3. I hope you feel better soon. I've never been to Mayo but I heard it's a big trip with alot of time and money involved. I'm sorry you didn't have a good experience. Hopefully you'll be able to see Dr.Grubb. Everyone is raving about him. Maybe I should make an appointment. Dayna
  4. I'm happy your doctor found what the problem is. Did he do bloodwork to find it? If antidepressants make you feel better than I would definitely go for it. Whatever gives you a better quality of life. Dayna
  5. good luck I'll hope you have a quick recovery Dayna
  6. I love fresh veges to and since I have slow gastic emptying (gastroparesis) I haven't been able to digest them and I get BAD nausea from it just sittting in my stomach. One reason I love fresh veges because I know they are the BEST thing nutritionally for you. Anyways to get to my point, I juice my veges and most fruits so I can still get the vitamins. Occassionally I'll think maybe I'm cured than try a few fresh but that occassionally. I made carrot/spinach carrot/celery carrot/apple plain carrot cranberry /apple orange/pineapple I can't tolerate any with tomatoes but sometimes I add broccolli. It's a mess to clean up but worth it. You can make 1 qt. for the whole day but you should drink it the same day. The sooner the better for nutrients. I use aciphex. I don't have acid reflex it just helps alittle with the nausea. Dayna
  7. I'm bored tonight and was just searching on this website and was looking under member's and there are alot of people listed but I don't remember seeing alot of them posting. What do you think happened to them? I wish they would pop in to let us know if they have recovered or something. I like hearing positive stories, it gives me hope. Well if any of you recover please post and let us know. I hope we all get that opportunity somday. Bored tonight husbands working 24hr shift Dayna
  8. sorry to hear about your appointment. I think alot of times the doctors need the psychiatrist. If they could just wake up and see that no one wants to feel miserable and admit that they just don't know how to help instead of trying to make us feel worse. That's cool your husband stood up for you and the way you guys handled the situation but I'm sorry you had to go through it in the first place. I'm still amazed that we have to teach the doctors about our condition. Their the ones that went through all the schooling. To bad we couldn't collect the pay check Dayna
  9. Steph - I think that's the prescritpion my neuro gave me nortriptyline. I have to pick it up at the pharmacy to be sure. I had horrible nausea and suicidal thoughts when I was on Lexapro 5mg for 4 days and also couldn't tolerate effexor 75. Maybe it's just the SSRI's. I'm happy you don't have any side effects, that's great. Good Luck Dayna
  10. I have always had a problem with losing weight even before POTS. I had three pregnancies and could never get near my starting weight. I would work out and eat a restricted diet and still saw little results. I am 5'4 1/2 and weight 140 but am very small boned and petite so that's too much weight for my body. Anyways since POTS I haven't exercised much and feel I'm gaining more weight. I also have slow gastric emptying (gastroparesis) which I can not eat alot of protein or raw veges and fruits or high fiber foods. Basically all the healthy things for your body. So now my diet consists of alot of carbs (breads, cereal, noodles,) stuff like that so I don't get to nauseous. Somedays I look 4months pregnant and that's embarrasing. I wonder if POTs has any regulation over our metabalism? I personally need to start exerciseing again but I'm scared. If I even push my boys in the swing I get discouraged and exhausted. Let me know if you come up with any solutions Dayna
  11. I have been getting 15 headaches/migraines a month for the last two months. I never had them before now they are chronic. My neurologist wanted me to start an antidepressant as a prevention med. Has that worked for anyone? I am terrified of antidepressants so I don't know if I want to start it. Also if my headaches came on so quick, what if they pass in a few months and I'm stuck on some med for no reason. What are your experiences? Did anyone have headaches for a few months out of nowhere that ended up dissappearing? ANy infor is great because I am miserable. They make me extremely irritable and I can't be that way with young kids. HELP!!!!!!!!! Dayna
  12. I'm back from the neurologist and all my tests were normal. The MRI they found a small spot on my brain. I guess it's a common spot since I've been experiencing headaches/migraines but I guess it's no concern. I also have two bulging disks in lower back but that has no effect on the spine. Neurologist said she can't think of anymore tests to do and sent me on my way. Because I experience so many headaches in the past two months she prescribed aleve 500mg and an anti depressant but I don't know if I have the nerve to start it. I guess I'm disappointed, I was hoping she would find out the cause than fix it. I'm sure we all wish that. Dayna
  13. Hi Jessica I've been out of the loop lately but I just wanted to wish you luck your last few weeks of pregnancy. The last few weeks are hard but it's sooo worth it. If I knew my last son Mason (15mo.) was probally going to be my last I would have tried to keep him in there forever. I love the feeling of kicking and hick-ups. Or when there had moves across your belly real slow. That's awesome. I'm sure Etan will be excited to be a big brother. I have a 3yr old Ethan. Good Luck and let us know how everythings going Dayna
  14. Steph- Thanks for your reply. I have dealt with alot of nausea, it's starting to improve, I think. What are the symptoms of abdominal migraine? The resaon I asked was my last migraine I told my husband i felt like I had a migraine in my stomach also. I never heard of abdominal migraines. How do they test for that? Dayna
  15. I know this topic is personal for some people but I just feel so depressed when I look in my medicine cabnet and I see all my prescriptions. I don't use them all on a daily basis but it's a CONSTANT reminder that I'm 28 and sick. I don't know why it bothers me so much to take meds, I just feel like they are toxic to my body. I know I need them but I haven't even started getting meds for POTS. I hate having my name on all these bottles. Does this bother anyone else? Do you get depressed when you open your medicine cabinet (daily. I know it's not my fault but it makes me feel like a failure. Here's my list I take daily Microgestin -birthcontrol aciphex 2x a day zertec- allergies singular- allergies rhinocort- allergies As needed I take Mobic -headaches tramadol -headaches vistrial -headaches relpax- migraines xanax -anxiety phenergan- nausea That's alot and a few times a month I take 9 or 10 meds a day. That's too much. I also take alot of vitamins so I can hopefully eventually stop some of the medications. I hate meds so much I tried a TON of alternative medicine (wasted alot of money )and I found chiropractic helps alot but it costs me $480 a month and we are a 1 income family so I'll have to stop that soon. Does anyone have any words of advise? This subject just gives me soooo much anxiety I don't know what I should do. My husband suggested having the kids decorate labels and put them on the bottles so I can remember that I take all these so I can take care of my three cuties. Dayna
  16. Well tomorrow I follow-up with the neurologist again to get my test results. I had ALOT of blood work and 24hr urine and MRI on head, neck, and spine. The office never called me so i assume my tests are normal but I'm still nervous. I want to see if there is an underlying cause so I can better control my symptoms. I also hope she can help with my headaches. I never got headaches before POTS. I did a log and I had 15 headaches and 3 migraines in one month. That's scary to me because there's probally something wrong with my brain. I hope the appointment goes good because I need her help, I want to feel good again someday. Thanks for listening dayna
  17. Sorry so late on the post. I know how debilitating nausea can be. When I first got sick I had it constant for about 7months. Now I only experience it a few times a month. Phenergan 1/2 dose works good for me. It doesn't make me tired. If I take a whole pill I get sleepy. I have also tried Zofran but I'm fighting with my G.I. to prescribe it. I know it's expensive but why should he care? I also had reglan and couldn't tolerate the side effects. I had jitters, anxiety and extreme depression. also my stomach hurt from it. I have slow gastric emptying (gastroparesis) and it's suppose to help move the stomach along. Good luck, there are alot of people who do fine on it. I hope you find something that works dayna
  18. All I can recommend is don't give up. Keep trying to stimulate your mind. I feel like you. I tell my husband to only rent comedy movies because I can't even keep up with movies with an actual plot. I also feel useless and depressed and have no idea what to do about it. If you get any good suggestions, let us know. Dayna
  19. I'm born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin dayna
  20. Your life is something to celebrate! Your story was horrible, it must have been really scary for you and your family. I'm so glad your husband decided to stop home. Funny how that works. I hope you keep healing and getting to enjoy your grandson. Congratulations Dayna
  21. I have recently been experiencing some of the heart palpatations and this weird butterfly feeling. Like flutters? Now here's the weird part, I mostly feel it on my right side of my chest. I can feel a slower beating there but have a hard time feeling my heart beat on the left side. Maybe it's just the vibrations from the left side but I can put my hand on the right side and feel the beating. It's not very fast and my husband can feel it to. Does anyone else experience this. I hope you guys don't think I'm crazy but this just baffels me. My husband keeps picking on me, saying "no wonder why you are so sensitive, you've got two hearts" Dayna
  22. xanax .25mg helps to clear my mind. My counselor said if I just feel like my mind is taking over too much Paxil will help with that but I won't try another SSRI they make me sicker. But alot of people have luck with stuff like that. I also clear my mind by reading or reciting bible versus it's helpful expecially if I have some negative things in my mind (like something from the nightly news) Dayna
  23. I am also extremely sensitive to medications. I don't take anything unless I cut it 1/2. Most things don't work because of the side effects. I guess it's just all tial and error. Dayna
  24. blackbirdsing Microgestin 1/25 is a very low dose birthcontrol pill. I need to find something different because I still ovulate and beyond my period I have alot of break though bleeding so what's the point of taking it. Are you more affected aroung hormonal changes too? dayna
  25. Jersey Girl- Now that you mention it, all my rollercoaster rides are due to hormonal fluctuations. I am on a low dose pill microgestin and right now I sould be ovulating.I thought the pill would take care of my ups and downs. I guess I need a stronger pill. Isn't there something we can do to regulate it so our bodies don't get so out of wack due to hormonal changes? Have you ever seen an endocronologist? Dayna
