runningshoe
HiI have posted before about my nose getting red when I am Pots but now it seems that my whole face and neck get red and I feel like they are burning. The redness is slightly raised. Anyone else have this? Can you explain what it means. Thanks!
morgan617
My neck and lower face get very flushed during surges. it's typically bad enough to be the first sign my family sees to know I'm in trouble....morgan
lloppyllama
For me, at the end of the day my face and ears will get red and are extremely hot, its like they are radiating heat...haha. But yes I know what you mean. My explanation of this is just that at the end of the day my body is tired and can no longer control the thermo things in my body, so my face flushes and gets very very warm...not sure if that is the actual reason, but that is my theory.Ice can help sometimes...Good luck, I know how annoying it is, it happens most everyday Mary
Jacquie802
Hi,I just saw your post and had to reply. I too have flushing but it seems to happen to my whole upper body. I have seen numerous specialists, including an endocrinologist and we never figured out what causes this for me. Also, when I get minor scratches my whole arm gets all flushed...Let me know if you find anything out about this flushing, it would be interesting to see what's going on!!Jacquie
runningshoe
I think there is a kind of pots that can come with flushing. Maybe Doctorguest will check out this post and give us some scoop! Thanks!
morgan617
I should add that when I am flushed, my hands are very clammy, but can be warm or cold, but my feet ALWAYS feel like blocks of ice. It's like the blood in my upper torso has taken all the blood from my feet. They turn dead white. Then when the surge gets better, my feet get a hot surge that actually feels like burning and they turn a maroon color. It's very odd. morgan
juliegee
On the DINET website, look into causes of POTS. Check out Mast Cell Activation Disorder (MCAD). I think there is an abstract of a study published there. The docs at Vanderbilt are definately connecting the two, one possible explanation for flushing.Julie
pamyla
Hi, I occasionally get flushing, usually when I am really stressed out. For me I feel this rush of heat to my face. I had this happen last week when I was about to get an IV, and the nurse could not get the needle in. After the 4th or 5th stick I started to feel the flushing. Later, we found my blood pressure had jumped up about 20 points. So, I suspect, at least for me, that this is a symptom I get when my blood pressure goes too high. Alizee
Hi lina,YES!! most definitely, I get flushing usually starting from my nose and then sometimes my whole face, half of my face then usually it branches out to my arms and hands and it's so annoying it feels like my skin is burning from the inside out. I actually can't get to sleep because of it. I never use to have it in my hands before but since October my hands have decided to become annoying, they burn and turn blood red and they also get puffy too, the skin feels tight as well. It's weird because as a child I always had problems with my feet being hot sometimes during the day and usually at night. In my early 20's my Doc told me it probably was Reynalds syndrome. But I guess it's really from the POTS? Anyways anyone here suffer terrible insomnia from it? Any relief other than ice-bags, sleeping with arms over your head, AC and fans that help? mrsdavidson8605
I get flushed sometimes in the middle of the night, and it wakes me up and i'm unable to sleep the rest of the night. I try to sleep with the fan on (I have to have a blanket on or I can't sleep). very rarely, it will happen during the day... sorry this is going on for you. I feel your pain! I feel your pain! Thanks for letting me know kansasgirl8605, I am sorry too that you have to suffer with this. It is so horrible, I dread the spring and summer because it's hard to escape the heat. I am the same way with the blanket I can't really fall asleep unless I have it over me I flip them off then the fan makes me cold on some parts of my body and then I flip them back on to get warm but then I get hot in different parts it's a weird feeling definitely enough to drive ya crazy! Maxine
Any insight on this would be nice, as I also get this flushing, and it's usually when my body is stressed.Maxine :0)
EarthMother
Anyone notice more flushing after eating? I can't say it's with any group of food, but more often than not the flare comes on after meals. And yes it feels like my cheeks are burning, my extremities get very cold (ice feet here too!) and it can last from 15 minutes to 2 hours. What do people do for relief or prevention?~EM
