Sunfish Posted August 2, 2005 Report Share Posted August 2, 2005 i know things have been more than hectic for you lately with the rescheduling but i was actually glad to hear that your doc wanted th locale moved; hopefully it won't matter but it's always better to have all the resources right at your fingertips (i.e. at the hospital) rather than at an outpatient locale. i ended up having to be taken to the hospital once after an endoscopy & it would have been much less of an ordeal if i'd been there in the first place...but enough of my rambling. mostly i just wanted to send you all the best for your surgery tomorrow. my thoughts and prayers will be set on full power. lots of love & hugs & smiles & sunshine & happy thoughts & prayers & anything else that might help,:-)melissa Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

goldicedance Posted August 6, 2005 Report Share Posted August 6, 2005 Thanks everyone for your heartfelt wishes. Had the surgery and got the best news I could all things considered. The sentinel node biopsy showed that the cancer had not spread to my lymph nodes...that is really great news. I am home and recovering well. I have two nice sized incisions held together with steristrips at this point. I am trying to remain upright for a good deal of time because laying down can really make me sicker. I was glad that the doctors (anesthesiologist and surgeon) were on the same wave length in ensuring that my body was not laying flat but at a 30 degree upward angle. My internist did a great job of coordinating the specialists even though she does not go to the hospital where I had the surgery. I now need to find out whether my pacemaker needs to be moved while I undergo radiation. If it does, then further surgery will be necessary to move it once and then return it to its original position so that they can avoid leaving 4 leads in my heart. You are so right that it's a better thing than cancer that's made it's way to the lymph system. I breathed a sigh of relief on your behalf. With regard to the Jewish terrorist, there is no organization willing to bury his body. I have my fingers crossed that she will remain safe during her stay. Last summer, when she went, she had her wallet stolen, she broke a bone in her foot and no crutches were available and she did not have money to buy them outright (her credit cards were in her wallet); and she never got the replacement cards we mailed her. It sounds like you handled the actually surgery part pretty well, which ias always a releif with the POTS aspect. Also, as far as 'good news' goes in the world of cancer you are in...i am so grateful that you got some in hearing that the cancer had not spread, etc.Now, onto the radition? Will you update us on how you are doing? When I see your name pop up on the board, as I have the past few days, it reassures me that you are 'out there'...home, not in the hospital, and okay enough to post...By the way, I LOVE your avatar! I am sorry that these golden years of retirement hit you with this new battle...but Lois, I know you, and I know how hard you fight and how informed your decisions are and I have good feelings that you are going to see many more years after this! Right now, I am in the itchy phase, which I guess means the two incisions are healing. Friday, I see the breast specialist who will remove the steristrips and send me to the next phase. There is still the possibility that I might need chemo because, while the tumor did not spread to the lymph nodes, it was a grade 3--which means aggressive growth. Trying to figure everything out has left me more discouraged though still upbeat. Right now, I am in the pink ribbon donate phase so please help the cause. I'm sorry to hear that it was a grade 3 tumor, but SOOO relieved to know that they feel like it hasn't spread and they "got it all"! I'm glad they found it when they did!! That is such a blessing! It sounds like your drs are staying on top of things and will make sure you are as safe as you can be!! I'm so glad you found the lump!! I know that this is a scary time for you!! Please know that you are in my prayers and that you WILL survive and be a stronger, smarter, more compassionate person because of all you're going through!!
