  1. Severe brain fog for me is when I can't think straight anymore, where I have trouble remember my name. When asked any questions I can't answer coherently, it's def a point where I need to lei down and recuperate. More common brain fog is when I don't understand questions, can't make connections or don't understand what I'm reading. I have to write down what we have for dinner every night as I can't remember what to do with the ingredients in the fridge. I hate brain fog!

  2. I'm so sorry Sean, this doesn't seem appropriate to me. It  might be helpful to keep track of your data for let's say a week. You could do your own "poor man's" test measuring heart rate and bp while seated, then stand up and measure for about 10 minutes, every 2 minutes. It will give you insight in how your heart rate and bp react to standing. You could hand over the list to the nurse/doctor and talk over the results. I'd also let them know being cleared by a psychologist (it  could be helpful to have that on paper also!).

  3. I'm not aware of POTS patients having heart attacks. Have you had your heart checked out by a cardiologist? I have been checked with all kind of test by my cardio just to make sure he didn't overlook anything. Fortunately my heart is happy and healthy! It turned out my symptoms are POTS and I'm comfortable knowing this as my cardio did what he could to make sure nothing else is going on.

  4. I'm sorry your doctors don't understand. Could you present info re this to your doctor like yogini mentions? If not it might be helpful to find doctors that are willing to work with you!

    This is from the POTS what helps page:  Ritalin increases peripheral vascular resistance via alpha receptor stimulation (Grubb, Kosinski, Mouhaffel & Pothoulakis, 1996).  Ritalin is prescribed by some physicians, but can be addictive.

  5. For me coffee (no sugar) works as a boost like you mention Nemesis. I have changed my diet to very low carbs (cut out all refined sugars) as my bloodsugars got out of control. I'm not diabetic but using sugars makes my levels get too low (like 2,6 ie). The symptoms mimic my POTS symptoms but I can tell it's low blood sugars as esp my legs get really weak. I'm telling you as perhaps it may be low blood sugars for you too?

  6. So sorry katcanny. It helps me to listen to music or try to do some coloring. I find coloring so relaxing! I have books and crayons and a sharpener in a box next to my favorite place on the bench, so really easy to grab them and put aside. Hope things will start getting better soon!

  7. Thanks a lot Bill, I'm glad you find this website and forum helpful! For me the forum was a life saver, knowing I wasn't the only one with these strange symptoms really comforted me. People understanding (from their own experience) and exchanging tips to live your life the best you can to me means SO much!
