  1. For me it's like meds that can hurt and help. It's a balancing act. Like with octreotide, it can cause huge problems but for me it helps me function on a much higher level than before I was on this med. Adding salt and fluids helps me a lot, I have always craved salt, I bet for a reason! I think it's a good thing to read and research but it's a personal choice to weigh out the pro's and con's of what works best in your personal situation.

  2. I don't do well with surgery either, but think it's the type of anesthectics that causes problems. The last time I had surgery under full anesthesia I got 5 eadrenalin injections because my bp kept tanking. When I had foot surgery two years ago I chose to have a popliteal block which worked well and didn't work on bp for me.

  3. Sue, I'm not sure whether this might work for you, but it does help me a lot: I've been on a low carb diet for over a year now to level out blood sugars, and though I lost 13 kilo's (which was too much for me) I've been doing much better blood sugar-wise. Just thought to let you know! Oh and I def can't cheat, my body will pick it up immediately and starts off giving me real lows (like 2,4 ie)

  4. Hi Lynda and welcome! I'm sorry your daughter has so much going on. Is she still seeing dr Mathias? He seems to be top doc in the UK! I have been diagnosed with diabetes about twenty years ago and undiagnosed a few months later. I have found out that my blood sugars are jumping up and down through the day. A low carb diet is helping to level out the highs and lows. There are several members here from the UK so perhaps this forum will help you find some like minded people to make you feel less alone.
