Jacquie802
Hi,I have been having alot of stomach problems lately. The weird thing is that I eat a good amt of food (example have some soup, yogurt, etc.) and a half hour later I am starving, then I eat and feel really nauseous after. The same thing happens at night, but I wake up feeling like I haven't eaten in days...Does anyone else experience this??Jacquie
dianaD
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!! It's like my body has lost the ability to know when to eat, or it misreads cues somehow. I pretty much eat all of the time, because I have ZERO tolerance for being hungry, yet I fight nausea to some degree 24/7. But it is a weird nausea. Not the commode-hugging kind, but the more like the mild morning sickness kind.I check my blood sugar, too, and even when I feel like I'm starving, my blood sugar is not low.Weird. yogini
Hi Jacquie,Have you been tested for any food allergies, lactose intolerance etc? Just wondering whether you are having a reaction to something you're eating. Or have you done anything to change your routine lately, in terms of sleep, exercise or changing/starting meds? Sometimes this screws with my stomach.-Rita
Guest CyberPixie
Oh, all the time! I hate the waking up at 4 or 5am with such raving hunger it feels as if my stomachs trying to eat itself! I eat porridge at 9.30pm to help stave it off but sometimes I still wake like it and it's so bad it makes me feel nauseaous.
futurehope
Two thoughts.Have you been tested or are you being treated for hyperacidity in the stomach? The lining of your stomach may be irritated and it comes across as hunger. Are you eating sugary foods before you go to sleep? I can't or I wake up hungry and my sleep is affected.Feel better. Clairefmartin
I get that all the time! Or I eat a whole meal and right afterwards feel hungry, this happened the other day and I didn't want to eat more cause I just ate a meal. I actually find the same thing as futurehope, I have to stay away from sugary fod later in the evening or I wake up feeeling that extreme hunger/sick feeling the next morning.Good luck! Guest sonotech
I have stomach problems ALSO, and I DO have the same hunger problems but dont know why. I get SEVERE stomach pains all the time (the kind that can make you cry and break out in a sweat) but previous colonoscopy showed no problems. I also feel like I am hungry ALL THE TIME. I have started to think it could be related to the meds (possibly??).Just know that you arent alone on this one!LAURA
Jacquie802
Hi guys,Thanks for all the replies. My GI doc wanted to do a colonoscopy but was nervous about doing it, because of my heart problems. I guess it can bother your vasavagal nerves and mess up your heart rate.?? Something like that! Right now I am on Protonix once a day and I feel a LITTLE better, but not much better. Anyhow, a little is better than none!Jacquie

LindaJoy
I know this is two months late, but YES, I'm having that "waking up in the middle of the night" or "I've just eaten, why am I starving now" feeling now! I first experienced it when I was coming off of Effexor XL. I was told that the feeling of starvation was a w/drawal symptom. I'm now coming off of Cardizem CD after being on it for seven years, and I'm again having that "starving" feeling, in the middle of the night, first thing in the morning, and about every two hours during the day. I'm also, right now, having very bad POTS symptoms. I don't know the connection between them all. Oh, and I suffer with gastritis and acid reflux, so who knows? Maybe just another POTS thing we have to deal with. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Honestly, I'm glad to see I'm not alone in this, though. I'm glad you wrote about it.Linda
Guest CastleWolf
Whoa... This post is really old, but I'm reviving it once more! I used to be fine when I was a kid, but when I was in college (diagnosed with POTS then), I woke up then (and still do) with ravenous hunger. It feels like what I imagine a hypoglycemia episode feels like, terrible hunger with the intense feeling that you'll die if you don't eat RIGHT NOW! It's very annoying. Some nights I don't have it, other nights I do. I can't figure out what the common thread is. However, I think the hyperacidity that Futurehope mentioned is a good guess. But for those who are starving all the time, I don't know that acidity would be the answer for you. I actually feel not hungry most of the time. It's like my body just goes weak instead of growling at me... I'm trying to rule out whether eating before bed makes things better or worse. But so far, it doesn't seem to hold true either way. (I also have nightmares most nights and eat before bed most nights. However, even this doesn't seem to be true all the time.) I think acidity might have to do with things as I tend to get acid reflux at night and mornings. I didn't even think about the acidity... Parker1844
I have an appointment with a specialist next week about almost the same exact things. I wake up every morning nauseous to the point I don’t want to get up and it’s this weird starving feeling but I have no desire to eat whatsoever. I’ve had stomach problems for forever so I know it’s not something simple. I know if I take a shot of alcohol or anything strong my stomach burns relentlessly for a good 30 minutes before finally relieving. And then very rarely I’ll wake up with sever vomiting to the point of dry heaving and dehydration for hours until I got to the hospital. Hopefully I find out and I’m praying it is nothing too major. Praying for you guys.
