Dizzy Dame Posted March 21, 2006 Report Share Posted March 21, 2006 Hi all, Well, yesterday my Cardiologist decided he didn't want to see me anymore. I came to him to ask about different treatments we could try (since the midodrine only helps so much). He told me he was "unwilling" to do anything else and that I should go back to Vanderbilt. I explained to him that Vandy is not my primary care, that they are really only research. Then he said that I should try to find a doctor that knows more about POTS. I told him that I've been looking for 9 bleeding months, and he didn't seem to care. The capper was when I then asked him to fill out my diability paperwork for school and he said "Lauren, I'm not willing to do this. Right now, I'm not sure if you even have POTS. If you had coronary artery diesase, or somehting..." I was in my WHEELCHAIR when he told me that he didn't think I was disabled. In my ****ing wheelchair!!At this point, I'm desperate. Does anyone have a doctor in the DC/Baltimore area that they like? She/he doesn't need to be a POTS expert, just someone who cares. PLEASE help. I'm not from your area but it's so upsetting for me to hear about these loser Dr.s!I was at my cardio a few weeks ago and my dr was busy with a new patient . seems her ortho had sent her to my dr because she was Egyptian (my dr is Lebanese) and thought she could help her. well all said and done she has no money, no citizenship and little english, a woman, and my doc speaks even less arabic. My dr was at wits end shen she came into me. She couldn't believe the ortho, who is usually a nice guy and very good, would send that patient to her when cardio wasn't the problem. I told her it was bull**** and we should return the favor as I had a large pile by the barn and could deliver it to his driveway in the dark of night. If he could dump a patient , we could do a little dumping too. She's so nice she thought I wanted to dump it in her garden, but I explained that no, I had an evil streak and I thought his driveway since he'd have to shovel it to get out. She really had a good laugh, but this stuff of just dropping patients because its too much trouble to think, or to look up some info, fill out some forms, etc. has just got to stop.Iwish I was closer I'd deliver some stuff in your dr's driveway for "his garden" for the sheer joy of it!! It affects all of us in a variety of ways on different days. Even if there is a medicine that helps, it is not a permanent cure. There is just not enough known at this point in time.Good luck. Maybe it would cover up the smell of this guy!!! Probably not. But his patients would know he STINKS!!! What a dirty, low-down, sniveling, cowardly, unprofressional, inhuman and well, I've got other choice words, but this is a family forum. What a jerk! i'm so sorry you've had this experience and hope the other referrals work out for you. Good luck to you!!! Keep us posted! theresa Posted March 22, 2006 Report Share Posted March 22, 2006 I just wanted to say i know how you feel, i'm in the same boat you are. i feel like i'm in the middle of the ocean and every lifeguard that comes along has no room on their boat to take me to shore and as hard as i try i can't find land. this forum has thrown me a lifesaver to hold onto and everyone has been so nice to me. I know how easy it is to want to put up that white flag and give up. Just mentioning the word Disabilaty scares doctors off. Its hard enough to get it but harder for a doctor to file for you on something they cant understand. I hope you find a better doctor. I've scheduled an appointment with a pretty famous cardiologist who teaches at GW shcool of medecine. I've been told he's treated POTS before. If he doesn't work out, I'll be sure to call the numbers you all sent me. The worst in all of this was that I spent the day in the ER yesterday. I fell at home and blacked out every time I tried to get myself up. Eventually, I had to call an ambulance. When I got to the ER, I couldn't tell them to call my docotor and had to rely on the ER doc. It turns out she was pretty nice, but I still felt alone and scared.
