Extremely Tired Just From Doing Barely Anything.

Recommended Posts

I am so extremely tired now. I was at my Grandma's all week. Today I had to pack which didnt take long then I made a quick lunch. Then at 12:45ish my parents came and we drove around to see if any yardsales were still out. Then we stopped at a grocery store just to pick up fried chicken for dinner. Then we got home around 1:45ish and I had to unpack my backs which took me until 2:55 and then I had to feed my dogs. Just doing that and I am super tired. Im not anemic but I am so tired of getting tired easily. Any tips on how to get energy back after being out. I hate how tired I get. It is frustrating.

Yes it is frustrating! The heat doesn't help either! My parents have not put the air conditioners in yet and we have the doors open but its not cooling things off! I also get very tired just going to church! Today I had a work assessment in an office for 3 hrs and it was really hot i had my fan with me but still i was miserable. Then i come back in the house and its hot. makes me miserable!

I wish I had saved the article but I didn't. However, a while ago, in researching B12, I read an article that said that many people with fatigue and B12 deficiencies are actually deficient in multiple B vitamins and docs only test B12 because it's in fashion in the medical community. Based on that, I switched to a B-Complex vitamin instead of just B12. It definitely made a difference for me. I also take a high bio - available CoQ10 supplement, Vit D3 (I test low so hematologist just put me up to 5000 IU daily), and an antioxidant supplement. While I still don't have a normal amount of energy and I still have an abnormal amount of fatigue, I can definitely tell when I forget to take my supplements in the morning. Please check with your doctor before trying any of these things. I know CoQ10 in particular can affect BP for some people (I don't have that issue.)

Also, I know no one wants to hear about rest, but I find that not resting enough for my body's needs, based on my illness, has a cumulative effect. What I mean by this is, I might be able to push myself to do more than I really should 2 or 3 days in a row, but I pay for it every time. By the end of day 3, I am usually in trouble...close to fainting, severe migraine, worsened brain fog, GI issues, etc., etc.. And as much as I struggle with parking myself on the couch and doing nothing, I have to do it if I'm going to maintain a baseline where I can have 2-3 functional hours every day. I can steal 5 hours for Monday, and 6 hours for Tuesday, but that basically means I used up any functional hours that might have been available for Wednesday.

I have been wondering if I am vitamin deficient as well. My doctor is having me get labs done a basic metabolic panel. I am not sure what all that includes but she wanted me to check my calcium and vitamin d3 since I have always had problems with low calcium and hypoparathyroidism.

I've had a virus lately that has really drained me, but it seems like I get one or two decent days a week, followed by four or five that I'm literally crawling the ground. My friends know that Sunday's are my big day out, because i get to hang with my friends, go to church, eat out (anything I don't have to cook or clean up after, I'm all over), and then I will totally crash. The last two weeks I've had some major major symptoms on this day out, and I've been laying on a couch in the youth room at church, and yesterday, nearly ended up with a seizure because i didn't rest enough between activities.

I admit, I'm horrible at listening to my body and it's needs, because I've always been expected to push through and been told "you're fine", so I will go and go and go, until the floor smacks me in the face. Trying to space my appointments out so not always on the go, and basically holing myself up in my apartment seem to be the only ways I get any sort of rest, and then I can't turn the brain off. I didn't need to bake bread today, but I baked two loaves, as well as a batch of sausage balls. Good thing out of that is, I now have food for the rest of the week I don't have to cook, just reheat. Because I won't be in the kitchen anymore for a bit.

Looking into the vitamin deficiency as well. I know at one point I had some that were on the lowish side, but they were more worried about my sodium and potassium levels that we never gave it another thought.

You are right on the money with this! I am trying to allow myself 2 active times. Once in the morning and once in the early evening. Those active times include appointments, exercise, watch my daughter play softball and housework. I'm finally feeling decent enough in the afternoon that I'm hoping that my body is up for that. I hate that I spend most of the day parked on the couch but until I get more stablized it is what it is.

I think I saw the article you were talking about Katybug! I don't deal with fatigue so much as I deal with weakness. Doesn't take much and my muscle's are like jello, my breathing is horrible and I feel like crap. I have no choice but to listen to my body if I don't want to end up back in the hospital.

Since I work full time, I have to be careful how much I do on the weekends. I have been doing too much the past few weekends, and have paid for it. Yesterday my doctor could tell I was exhausted by looking at me. I felt like I had the flu, and am dealing with headaches today. My iron is low and may have to start infusions, but I had blood work done yesterday to see what else might be going on. I have a sleep specialist who is trying to find the cause of my fatigue and hypersomnia, and a way to treat it.

I am so tired of being tired!!!

I had PT today, and I had to be wheeled out to the car. So frustrating. Most days I can pull off a couple of tasks, but like most of you, if I push too far I am going to pay. It's like a bank, and I've overdrawn my account.

I am not prepared for summer. I need to get a better handle on resting. I'd like to avoid a hospital stay.

I appreciate we are not alone. I am finding being this sick is very isolating. So I am really thankful when someone is brave enough to share their struggles.

I'm off to rest. Sigh.

I found out a lot from wearing a sports HR watch as to why I am so tired all the time. My HR is always so high...I knew that but when I put in my age, weight etc... and then just let it run, it says that according to my heart rate, I am burning 6000 calories per day. I know that is not true because I don't eat that much and I have not lost weight. Even though I am doing nothing my body thinks its jogging all day long and going for quite a few sprints. The adrenaline pumped out is also exhausting.

Whats very weird is that most of the time when I am exercising, my heart rate is in a normal target range for the task I am doing but when Im doing nothing, it gets much higher. I wonder what that is about?

Gotta "love" getting all sweaty and wheezy from just getting dressed :rolleyes: I'm not asthmatic but doing anything is starting to get me wheezing. Anyone else?

I've got some replies to others here but too exhausted and I have to drive to DD's Softball game in a few. Hope I'm recovered from my getting dressed and little bag of snack packed before I have to leave in 30 or so minutes.

THIS *****! Course you all know it, just needed to get it out of my system for the moment

MTA: can't believe I was a ultra runner and weight lifter just a few short years ago. My body still looks the part but it's not even close to living the part

I use the Polar FT7 sports watch. I like it because I can see my heart rate all the time if I want and use it as biofeedback.

I also get winded and tuckered out just from getting dressed. I cannot for the life of me get the compression stockings on without having to lay in bed for half the day! My HR goes too high...that's the problem. Try explaining that to a neurologist!

Rockenmamaof5 have you had a cardio workup?

pink1975 I also get my stamina back from a sedative. I have come to believe that it lowers my heart rate and makes me feel better but does not make me tired per se.

I use a Garmin for my HR. LOVE it!

I've had a full workup. 2 stress tests during last hospital say, one treadmill the other chemically induced since the first one was abnormal and it got stopped early between the blood pressure 172/106 and how I was feeling. Also had an echo during the stay and then the Cardiologist told me after my Tilt Table Test last Friday that my heart and cardiovascular system are great. So I failed the test despite the Cardiologist thinking I was going to pass it and only doing the test because my Primary doctor requested it. He told me to make an appointment in 2-4 weeks for a follow up. I don't think I'll be doing that.
