What would Dr. Grubb Say?

I'm wondering if anyone who has seen one of the big-wig specialists like Dr. Grubb would have an idea of what he would say about this.

If someone was on Florinef and beta blockers and after 2 1/2 months had a big flare with dropps in BP, would they increase the florinef or say that it wasn't working?

I feel so awful this morning and I have no one to call. I've been on .4 and had horrible headaches. Lowered it to .3 and had scary "autonomic storms" and chest pain. Lowered it to . 2 over three weeks ago and am just now having sudden BP drops again, and feel like just like I did after mh TTT.

I know you all can't give medical advise, but if anyone thinks, "Oh I know exactly what Dr. Grubb would say", I'd love to hear it. Otherwise, please pray for me. I feel so awful today and I'm scared. :)

Thank you,

Roselover

Hi Roselover,

I'm so sorry your going through these scary episodes. I'll pray that your body stabilizes very soon! Can you call the doctor's office that originally prescribed you these meds and talk to a nurse or doctor?

Have you considered that it may be your beta blocker causing the drop in BP? This is a side effect of BBs sometimes.

Make sure you getting enough fluids and electrolytes too and wear your compression hose if you have some. Do you know what your BP readings have been lately? If it's extremely low then maybe the ER would do some IV therapy, but I know going to the ER is usually more trouble than it's worth.

I hope you can talk to a medical professional that can advise you on adjusting your meds. I dont' take any meds at this point, so I am sorry I can't give you further input. But I will keep you in my prayers. Hang in there. :)

Hugs,

Gena

Roselover,

I agree with Gena that it could be the beta blocker. Another thing to consider is that your body may be reacting to reducing the florinef. Our bodies are very sensitive and react to any change in medicine more than the normal person. On top of that, florinef is a really powerful steriod, even tho we take it in small doses. I am not sure how long you have been taking it. It took me several months to figure out how to reduce the dose without triggering my symptoms. I first tried to go off it 1 pill at a time, my POTS flared up really bad. Finally after 3 tries, I tried 1/4 pill every 3 weeks and that worked.

It may be that your symptoms will subside on their own after your body reacts to the reduction in dose. In the meanwhile, I would have lots of salt and water and wear compression hose to keep up your BP. Anyway, I hope you are able to talk to your doctor soon.

Not sure what the docs say, but I can tell you what many patients who are forum members say.... many do very poorly on beta blockers. You might consider seeing how you do on florinef alone (with your doctor's help, of course.).

I second what Nina says. Check with your doc. I saw Dr. Low, and he tried beta blockers on me, and they made me FAR WORSE. I am one of those that cannot handle beta blockers, and Dr. Low has me steer clear of them. But, each one of us is different. Check with a doctor.
