  1. The doc said it might help to break the pots cycle, snapping my nervous system back to normal
  2. Yes, it is a tricylic antidepressant. Sorry for asking... But what is "NET"?
  3. The doc prescribed me some amitriptyline. I guess I'm just super nervous about taking it - being a brain altering chemical and all. I've never been on anything like this, and one side affect in particular has me worries - sudden cardiac death. He said it won't happen to me, the electrical activity in my heart is normal. But it's still in the back of my head. I guess I just need some positive reinforcement or something because I'm getting myself all worked up about this. Has anyone else taken this? Did it seem to help?
  4. Pulse when I'm sleeping, on the 24 hour halter is 42bpm. When I take it myself if I'm getting up during the night, It's in the low 60s. But my blood pressure is 8X/4X. Hmm....
  5. Anyone else have trouble sleeping? I can't seem to get to sleep and stay asleep. But the in the mornings, I end up staying alseep, have tons of dreams, and can't seem to wake up. And when I say can't wake up, I mean I'll get up to go to the bathroom or something at 5:00 in the morning and fall back asleep on the way to the toilet.
  6. Exercise doesn't seem like it changes how I feel. Until I stop - then I get dumped in the middle of a nice POTS episode
  7. Maybe there is something to this? I went to a store and got one of those electronic cigarette things (which, by the way, they come in a bunch of flavors). I figured that will give me a slight bit more control over gum or patches. Low dose - it seems to help a bit. At higher doses though, it seems to exacerbate the brain fog. The mist they give off is a bit irritating to the throat, but that passes in a few minutes. Going to keep playing with things a bit.
  8. I guess I should say this: I'm not a smoker, never have been. But I am aware of nicotine's effect of raising blood pressure. But from what it sounds like: it can help, but isn't worth the addiction risk?
  9. I have no idea, to be honest. I haven't measured. I try to focus more on how I feel than sticking to some number
  10. I didn't have any nausea, but I do have a decreased appetite. And I sometimes avoid food because it seems like it will exacerbate my symptoms at times. I've lost 44lbs since late November because of it
  11. I had one of those right-before-you-go-to-sleep ideas. Nicotine is a vasoconstrictor, so perhaps it could help? Just wondering if anyone had tried patches or gum and if it seemed to help, hurt, or do nothing?
  12. I like water and potato chips and/or beef jerky. Potatoes are high in potassium, and the amount of salt they put on them gives me my sodium. 'Jack's Links" beef jerky is pretty high is sodium too. And it gives a bit of protein I've always had trouble with the sports drinks though. They don't have *that* much electrolytes and they usually end up being closer to sugar water than they do a replenishing solution. Plus I have sensitive teeth and the citric acid they put in there for flavor is just murder for me.
  13. I've always been into cars, audio, and hands on projects. I like to work on bits and pieces of my car like re-wiring something, or drawing out plans for a new speaker enclosure. That sort of stuff
  14. They are rice. You can make some yourself to - they work great
  15. Weird how heat makes some people worse. Getting warm makes me feel a bit better. Probably because I always run a temperature of 99.8 since this all started
  16. I'm the opposite. I have pretty good long term memory, but horrid short term. I'll forget what I'm doing as I'm doing it, or I'll read a page out of a book and think to my self: "What did I just read?" It's frustrating...
  17. I have it too. It's not as wide spread though - it will hit me on random spots on(or feel like it's inside) my body. About the side of a deck of cards
  18. I seem to get lots of surreal, lucid dreams on the nights when my POTS symptoms are acting up. Anyone else get this?
