  1. I haven't been able to figure out what causes it. But a couple times a month I'll wake up feeling super brain foggy and in about 10 minutes I feel a crazy fluttering in my chest. I'll feel my heart and it's being extremely erratic and I get light headed. Like: beat 3 times in 1 second then pause for 2 seconds, then beat again, then beat again 1 second later, then beat twice, then pause, etc. I've had an ultrasound of my heart, several ECGs, 24hr holter monitor, 30 day holter monitor. They all assure me that nothing is wrong. But even still: when this happens I have the phone in my hand with 911 dialed up where all I need to do is click send if I feel myself passing out when this happens. It resolves itself in a couple minutes. But even still..... It's not a great experience. Does anyone else have this? Or anything like it? Mine only happens in the mornings. It will *occasionally* happen in the evenings, but not as bad as mornings.
  2. Long term: It only seemed like it helped sometimes. And only if I had low blood pressure (diastolic would go up by ~5 points for me) I haven't noticed it helped enough to be worth pursuing. So I've just been sticking to salty foods lol. It's not like it hurts anything to try though. They are 10 bucks at a gas station and harmless in my opinion. For what it's worth: I tried it it for a month, then when I decided it wasn't doing anything I stopped without feeling the need to go back and do it
  3. Glad to hear! What region do you live in, if you don't mind me asking?
  4. No adrenaline rush. But I do have this bizarre sensation. It's the mental equivalent where there is a white noise such as a fan on in the background, you tune it out, then someone turns it off and you look around for a second going "wait, what was that" Its like my body and my mind goes numb for a split second. Not the normal "falling" sensation. Something different.
  5. The past couple weeks have just been brutal in terms of my symptoms. I suppose because of that, I keep having these vivid dreams of being healthy, happy, hanging out with friends, going back to school - enjoying life again. Then I wake up, and realize I'm still sick. I can handle the sick part - just take it a day at a time... But being reminded of how life was before this all started just makes me sad. I feel like my own mind is teasing me... That is all. Just needed to get that out.
  6. I've had to sot down/crouch at times because I can feel something coming on. But I've never consciously collapsed. What do you mean? Like you are collapsing but cannot move to stop yourself?
  7. Got some bloodwork done and noticed a slightly higher than normal anion gap of 16.4, which seems like it can point towards metabolic acidosis(acidic blood). The symptoms are a lot of what I experience. I just emailed the doc about it. Perhaps it is worth looking ingo? Just sharing my thoughts with you all. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metabolic_acidosis
  8. I've been pretty potsy lately. I've also been having feelings that I'm in a dream. Like things don't quite feel like they should. I've looked that up and all I could find is anxiety. But I don't feel anxious. Like... At all. If anything I feel the opposite. Anyone else deal with this?
  9. I keep my fingers crossed for that day. I like to think it will. It helps me stay positive if I believe there is a light at the end of the tunnel. It hit me out of nowhere too. Fine one day, then it hit me in the evening when I was chilling out watching a family movie
  10. This is something I've been logging over the past few days. The times that I feel potsy(namely evenings) I also get cold and my body temperature will go from 98.5 up to high 99s/low 100s. The worse I feel, the higher the temperature. On my good days I'll have a temp of 98.4-98.5. Has anyone else noticed any sort of pattern like this?
  11. For me it's the lightheadedness. To the point where it feels like I'm inside myself looking out, if that makes any sense. Pretty the disconnected/brain fog feeling
  12. IVs don't seem to help much for me. They make me pee a lot and I taste it, that's about it
  13. I have no idea what caused mine. All I know is life was fine until 7:00PM of Nov.28th 2012 and it hit me like a freight train out of the blue
  14. Been feeling pretty crappy the past couple days and I keep having this worry in the back of my mind that the POTS caused some sort of permanent brain damage. I'm sure that's not the case, but I need some confirmation
  15. I always like doing things with my hands, seems like it helps to keep me grounded. Depending on how I feel: silly putty, knitting(funny, I know, but don't knock it 'till you try it!), playing with speakers. Other times I'll just turn on some netflix or similar. Kids shows/kids movies are pretty relaxing - simple plots and they are cheery.
  16. Thanks everyone I'm feeling a bit better today. Not great, but bearable. I'll take that over yesterday!
  17. I've always liked building things in the times I feel better. If you do too, feel free to post some pics Right now I'm working on building some tweeter pods for my car Hmm.... I can't seem to post pictures but I didn't see anything about it in the rules? Here are the links. You'll just have to click on them manually lol http://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa378/chance1525/Mobile%20Uploads/WP_002475_zpsb5a28e9f.jpg http://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa378/chance1525/Mobile%20Uploads/WP_002479_zps45c73d1c.jpg http://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa378/chance1525/Mobile%20Uploads/WP_002481_zps4daffbca.jpg http://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa378/chance1525/Mobile%20Uploads/WP_002485_zpsb86432da.jpg
  18. Started off the morning OK but then crashed. Since then it's just been one of those POTS-errific days Just felt like I needed to get that off my chest
  19. Just updating you all on what's going on Talked with the doctor, they said to cut the dose in half and see how that makes me feel. They said it might make the symptoms worse before they get better, since my body takes time to adjust. So I'm going to try that for a week and see what happens.
  20. I've got a full head of hair. I'd be concerned if I didn't at 18 lol
  21. Yeah I'm no doctor myself, but I'm definitely going to have a follow up with him because this just seems like it's not working for me lol. I know it's only 1 day, but still. I don't really want to go any further without checking in again The doctor doesn't specialize in POTS per-se, but he sees lots of pots patients and is familiar with it because of that. He specializes in gastrointestinology
  22. I ended up biting the bullet and taking it last night I have to say I feel worse today. Like the really bad can't do anything except think about breathing
  23. I play it a lot when my POTS is acting up. Kind of a mindless, entertaining game with some social interaction. Anyone else play?
