  1. It's not a quick fix, basically make sure you eat properly and sleep 8 hours a night. It takes time to adjust to a healthy sleep cycle. Days where you don't get enough sleep will throw you off. At least this has been my experience.
  2. There is also stocking donners, google compression stocking donner.
  3. I know this has probably been mentioned before, but on searching the website I haven't found any great links. Does anybody know where to buy, online, compression hose that are waist high (30-40mmHg) for men?
  4. Thanks Katy , looking into those bars on amazon now, what's your favorite flavor?
  5. Someone should post the survey doctor Raj was talking about on the end there. The more data they get the better.
  6. What is a good snack to take to a classroom? Something that will boost energy and get rid of dizziness/hypoglycemia?
  7. Not sure if I have anxiety, but stressful situations definitely exacerbate my symptoms.
  8. Nvm, just realized you already answered this question on an older post.
  9. What type of doc, or test do you need for an mcas diagnosis?
  10. Hey All, Does anybody remember a few months ago somebody posted a video on pots. I believe this person was a microbiologist who had pots. She made a video that was quite, long maybe an hour. I found the video quite informative, but i forgot to save the link. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would much appreciate it.
  11. Every story of recovery or improvement I've heard has included symptom improvement over time, finding a proper regimen of exercise and medicine and basically fighting hard against pots everyday.
  12. Yea, tried it, but only once for one day. It didn't really do much the day I took it. I felt a slight energy boost but definitely not a pots cure for me. Although, I have heard from other, non pots, people that it helps them focus on their work more. If you take it please let us know your experience.
  13. This happens to me a lot. Almost used to it by now. I think it usually occurs when you do something strenuous during the day. I usually get hit at night when I'm sleeping, it wakes me up. Not sure what it is though.
  14. I have trouble eating big meals these days. Palps could be from the blood rushing to your gut to digest a big meal.
  15. I took the following numbers from "The Symptoms We Get From Pots" poll. total votes as of 6/1/13 n=110 Symptoms Votes fatigue 96 lightheadedness 92 brain fog 89 Dizziness 89 Cold hands and feet 87 palpitations 86 These were the most voted for symptoms, I am assuming all of us with POTS share these symptoms. Symptoms Votes feelings of panic 64 feeling like you are going to die 55 feelings like there is something else, undiscovered that's wrong 69 feeling like you should be in the E.R. or hospital 58 Feeling like you have to know what your blood pressure is doing 49 Here are some more qualitative symptoms, they may be caused by everything else that is going on. More than half of us suffer from feelings of panic (64/110 =58.18%). As far as I know the mortality rate of POTS is zero. You can remind yourself of this fact if you feel like you are going to die. Symptoms Votes presyncope 81 full syncope 33 Presyncope can be scary especially in public, In my experience it has been a major cause of my panic. I have never fainted from POTS, 30% of us do faint. Assuming that those who faint voted presyncope as a symptom we can gather that 43% of us experience presyncope but do not faint. So if you know that you are not a fainter use this knowledge to calm yourself when you feel presyncope. Personally, I think that panic stops me from doing many things. However, since my diagnosis, a little over a year ago, I have learned to somewhat subdue my feelings of panic. I can say that this has significantly improved my daily activities. Hopefully this helps, also share ways that you have found to calm yourself instead of panicking.
  16. The more you exercise the more you will get used to/ feel the soreness less. It takes about a month of consistent exercise to get used to it.
  17. Drink until you're hydrated, and eat salty foods or drink electrolyte drinks so your body can retain the fluids better. Just test out how much you can eat or drink to feel good. It's probably different for everyone. I drink about 2 or 3 liters of water a day. I get salt from eating normal food, and I drink Gatorade pretty regularly as well.
  18. Any way to change user name? Spelled any way wrong in title. But yeah, uhh is there?
  19. I have the same symptoms high BP upon standing and that shaky pre syncope feeling. My BP does go down after a while though although it randomly goes up and down in waves if I stand still for too long. Not sure what this is, but also, not sure that it isn't normal for BP to go up upon standing. Does yours drop after a while or stay the same? Your last reading was high so you should talk with your doctor. If you want to, keep me posted on what you find out I'd be really interested because of my similar symptoms? Stay strong!
  20. Better, but it's gradually. I have to build up endurance. Not only that but it takes a bit of a warm up. At first when I'm doing cardio I always gag and get light headed. I just push through. After exercise, it depends. If I overdo it I get very tired. But I think in the long run it helps for sure.
