  1. One second I'm hot and clammy, next second I'm chilly. Both are making my breathing worse..
  2. I ate food for the first time in 48 hours.. yay (I ate steamed veggies lol) Only problem is my breathing got really bad before I ate
  3. most of my POTS flares have come after walking to the train. Maybe because of carbon monoxide from all the cars there. Anyone else notice this.
  4. does anyone get serotonin levels checked?
  5. trouble with both, especially with my pocket because of the A/c and heating bills lol
  6. The majority of the time I feel better in the morning and hit a wall at 5pm. That's not to say I feel good until 5pm, I don't, but I'm more fatigued at 5pm and that is like a cascade after I get fatigued
  7. Update #2: I went to my appt. The doc was ok, he was a little quick and a bit of a germaphobe (read that on RatemyMd.com before the visit). He is also clueless about Dysautonomia, which I expected. I told him I had Dysautonomia and he replied, "you mean familial dyautonomia" I said no I have Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome and as soon and I said orthostatic he said "orthostatic hypotension" ugh. He ordered Xray to check for pneumonia, Blood tests and urine tests. I made him give me strep culture. I wanted him to test for staph infection to but he declined..I'll have to go back to my ENT to get that in 2 weeks. Problem was that the appt he gave me was after 5pm and all the labs were close except for the local hospital lab. He told me to go to the ER. I said no way, that was the point of seeing him. I went to the hospital outpatient lab/radiology (it's not free because my ins only excepts labcorp). I didn't want to wait. I went took all the test but I have to wait until tomorrow for results. I should have told him to do a sputum test. Also my GF noticed my eyes and skin look yellow, I hope he is testing my liver too. glad i had enuf strength for the appts
  8. before I had my POTS DX I had nasal polyps removed (2009) and I woke up after the nose surgery being very Tachy. I ended up staying overnight in the hospital. The only other time before I had my POTS DX that I noticed my tachy was when I was in the ER and they gave me Albuterol for the first time (2006). For the nasal surgery they gave me Lidocaine but they also put me to sleep. I don't know exactly if its the Lidocaine or something else... Try to discuss it with a knowledgeable POTS doc first since you have had problems in the past...
  9. on my way now to the doctor. two strange things are this fever started with my POTS adreniline rush and whichever way I lay the heat goes to that spot and it feels awful. I had to prop my head up when I slept because the heat would go to my head and eyes but then I had a lot of pressure in my neck and my breathing and heart were sore wish me luck
  10. my HR is still in the 120's too. Anyone who has gotten a fever also find that their HR increases?
  11. Update: I still am running a 100 F temp. I finally slept last night (hadn't slept in 40 hours+). I went to bed 11pm woke up 12am, went back to sleep, woke up 2am, went back to sleep and woke up 10 am. I also haven't eaten for 2 days, only drank 2 gallons of water... I'm glad I didn't go to the ER, but it was risky. I finally made found a local doctor who I'm going to see in an hour. I think I have a little more strength to at least go to the appt. I haven't seen this doc before and don't know if I should get into all the POTS stuff just yet.. I want him to test me for infection, ect...
  12. http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1471-4159.1973.tb07582.x/abstract THE INFLUENCE OF HYPOCAPNIA UPON INTRACELLULAR pH AND UPON SOME CARBOHYDRATE SUBSTRATES, AMINO ACIDS AND ORGANIC PHOSPHATES IN THE Brain Abstract— In order to evaluate the influence of hypocapnia upon the energy metabolism of the brain, lightly anaesthetized rats were hyperventilated to arterial CO2 tensions of 26, 15 and 10 mm Hg respectively, with subsequent measurements of intracellular pH and of tissue concentrations of carbohydrate substrates, amino acids and organic phosphates. At Pco1= 26 there was a moderate increase in the intracellular pH but when the Pco2 was reduced further to 10 mm Hg the intracellular pH returned to normal, or slightly subnormal, values. The reduction in PCo2 was accompanied by increased cerebral cortical concentrations of lactate, pyruvate, citrate, α-ketoglutarate, malate and glutamate and by decreased aspartate concentrations. It is concluded that the accumulation of metabolic acids explains the normal value for intracellular pH at very low CO2 tensions. Previous results obtained in man indicate that there is an increased anaerobic production of lactic acid in the brain in extreme hypocapnia. At comparable CO2 tensions the present results showed a small fall in phosphocreatine and a small rise in ADP. However, since the ammonia concentrations were normal or decreased and since there was an increase in citrate, the results give no direct support to the hypothesis of an activation of phosphofructokinase. Since the cerebral venous Po2 was reduced to 20 mm Hg at an arterial CO2 tension of 10 mm Hg the accumulation of acids was probably secondary to tissue hypoxia. However, since there was no, or only a very small, increase in the calculated cytoplasmic NADH/NAD+ ratio, it appears less likely that acids accumulated due to lack of NAD+.
  13. Do POTS patients typically have a reduction of blood flow. I thought pooling meant an increase in blood flow?
  14. maybe his liver was compromised. They say if someone drinks 3 servings of alcohol/day it's not safe...
  15. I have a fever and feel achy and am allergic to asprin, what else should I take? I took 4 max strength in the last 12 hours. I'm going to take 2 more before bed. They say the max is 8 pills in 24 hours..
  16. still awful, I hate the ER. The new place I moved to doesnt have a great hospital and I dont have a personal doctor in the area yet. If I dont go to the ER tonight I'll try to call around to local doctors and see if they will take me..
  17. I have a slight fever the highest it got was 101 F, now it's 100 F But my head, chest, inner thighs, neck and stomach feel really warm. My eyes also feel warm.. I don't do well with extra salt. I've had a staph infection 4 weeks ago. took levaquin and it went away. I had major phelgm with it. Now I have a little phlegm.
  18. Symptoms The list of signs and symptoms of lactic acidosis includes the following:[6] Nausea Vomiting Hyperventilation (to remove CO2) Abdominal pain Lethargy Anxiety Severe anemia Hypotension Irregular heart rate Tachycardia
  19. just took another half of tylenol. No weekend clinic but cant move anyway. wish I could test my blood sugar and ketos. Still no improvement and no sleep!
