  1. Thanks Jana , I will try that test later today. I am still learning. I have Orthostatic hypotention and NMH - when I get stressed I faint or nearly faint. Is this considered Dysautonomia then? I think thats what my neurologist called it. leize , thats how I feel that I may have had pots , its been 7 years for me now and since taking propranalol that symptom has reduced somewhat. christyd , thats the problem isnt it, you need to be caught having that symptom. Surely cos I am on propranalol It wont happen ?
  2. Glad I am not imagining it then. I can also get it on the toilet , but thats another subject . lol.

  4. Mary , I have sent it to my mother to watch ,lol. Its a great show which is only shown in the US I believe ? I would love to have it here in the uk.
  5. Hi everyone , I have low blood pressure & postural low blood pressure. I have not been diagnosed with Pots , althought I feel I may of had apisodes of it at times cos I suffer alot with a racing heart and take propranalol for it. At the doctors my heart rate was 78 sitting - 99 standing , so thats a rise of only 21 , so this is not pots. But could it be possible that I dip in and out of pots ? and that they just didnt catch it ? Not that I want pots , the Orthostatic hypotention is bad enough ! My doctor said I should go on the steriod tablets to raise my blood pressure but he said if I go on them I will have to stop taking my salts and fluids - as it would all be too much, is this right ? He said my blood pressure is 70/52 and thats when sitting (not good) . Thanks for listening to me wrattle on ,lol.
  6. Had a bad cold a week ago , couldnt stop coughing and each time I coughed I felt faint. I ended up staying in bed for 2 days with it. Does this happen to anyone else ? Why does this happen ? any ideas please.

  8. Hospital cant seem to find the cause of my orthostatic hypotention and vaso vagal episodes. Heart tests came back fine , cortisol ok , famale hormones show I am in perimenopause. I am being sent to a blood pressure specialist next. My neurologist still wants to see me and says I have to come off my amitriptyline pills that I take for migraine cos they make OH worse. My doctor doesnt want me to take steriods for my blood pressure and the neuro does , so we will see what this new specialist says.
  9. Years ago when I lived in portsmouth ( next to chichester) there was a young girl who had a really rare disorder, Her name is Hannah Thompson and she would be about 16 now.She would be ideal for your story but I do not know her address and do not know how to find out, but here is her story ..... http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/i-...in-1274807.html
  10. sounds interesting , I am near chichester and attend st Richards hospital. However I do not want to be in the news paper. Can you tell me when will this article take place ?
  11. oh wow that is interesting, you have me thinking now , 3 years ago I had some swollen saliva glands and the hospital didnt know why, I had xrays and a procedure to go into the gland. It all looked ok and was a mystery. A year later it went away. Now days I have a dry mouth constantly and orthostatic problems. I will mention this next time I go , thank you.
  12. I think its the vasovagal reaction ,,, I read this about it ..... Vasovagal reaction is a common condition in which a healthy person temporarily develops low blood pressure, slow heart rate, and sometimes fainting. A vasovagal reaction typically is brought on by emotions of fear or pain such as having blood drawn, starting an intravenous infusion, or by gastrointestinal upset. Vasovagal reactions are caused by activity of involuntary (autonomic) nervous system, especially the vagus nerve, which releases hormones that slow the heart and widen the blood vessels. The vagus nerve controls the heart rate (slows it down). The vagus nerve also controls digestive tract function and senses activity in the digestive system. Thus, some people can have a vasovagal reaction from straining at a bowel movement or vomiting.
  13. omg , I cant believe we are all so alike . This has been my worse symptom. My doctors used to put it down to panic attacks , however I now have a great Neurologist who discovered I have OH. She said , emotions make my blood pressure drop too low. Yet I cant get my head around it ? Is it orthostatic hypotention or ANS ?
  14. I see ..... 15 - 20 mmHg is this not enough compression ?
  15. Thanks again. I have just ordered myself some support underware. I am now trying to find some socks to go up to the knee. I was measured for some stockings but they are too loose and fall down. I cant bear to wear a suspender belt. What grade should the socks be ? Its all so confusing.
  16. FUTURE HOPE , Yes you are correct ,thanks. I am going to get some shapewear now , is it best to order the size you are or a size above ?
  17. I am a bit confused, I am in the uk. we have .... stockings tights so can someone translate what is what please ,lol.
  18. Hi Erica , Its my sons 16th birthday today too we have just had a housefull and some younger members of the family have been very noisey. I always get dizzy when theres alot of noise going on , they have all just left and I am so relieved ,lol. I think whats helped me today is the fact I am wearing some compression stockings and some compression underware. Good luck , hope it goes well for you today.
  19. Is this normal in OH ? I feel a mild tremor and hate it , whats that all about ?
  20. I was reading online about orthostatic hypotention. I think It said (it was very complicated reading) , if when your blood pressure drops it is important to know if your heart rate increases. If it does , this indicates hypovolemia. Does any one know if this is true ?
  21. I find this interesting. I have spinal problems and never considered them maybe being a cause of my OH. I have 3 discs missing in my spine ( in between my shoulder blades) and scoliosis and fused ribs. However I have had a mri of my head done, but would they of checked my neck too ? Babette, I too have all the floaty feelings you describe and dizziness, I was told it was migraine related because I get menstraul migraines too.
  22. oh , i have read the medication and its called ..... FLUDROCORTISONE is this something different ? I HAVE TO TAKE ONE 100MICROGRAM A DAY. any advise ?
  23. Thanks again - I really do not know where I would be without you all. I have just visited the doctor , she said ..... she wants me to take the florinef everyday for the next two weeks, and then I am to come back to see her. Then she said , she doesnt understand why my neurologist has just gone down the road of treating the symptoms. She said my orthostatic Hypotention is a symptom and that we need to find the cause. she is going to refer me to a blood pressure specialist . I cried again .
  24. thanks , that looks a really good item to buy if space is tight , I like the way it has different tensions. mighty mouse , I was doing some of those stair drops this morning (how strange) it was my husbands idea. I could really feel it. Another question : With this condition , is it bad to be overweight ? I ask this because I have read people have been told to put on weight . I need to loose 28lb .
  25. UPDATE: Doctor phoned me , said he has the letter from the neuro. He told me to come in later today to discuss it. He mentioned me going on Florinef. He said its a steriod ( I didnt know that ) is it ok to be on a steriod all the time ? I asked him why I have this and he said "your just unlucky" and when I asked him about my future having a life of this , he didnt comment . Made me feel worse. Will I die early because of this ? OMG : what a state I am in. When the kids come in , I try to act like everythings fine.
