Aprilmarie52
when my heart beats slow I feel like it is also beating very hard. I am not on a beta blocker though.
SunsetParadise49
I get the slow heartrate as well. Like April said, when it is slow, it feels like it is pounding and even feels like it's racing sometimes. I don't take beta blockers so I can't help you there.Take Care! Rachel
Yes, my heartrate is occasionally very low (50's). It's rare, but sometimes it happens when I'm resting.
lavender
What is considered a "normal" range for an adults heartrate?
India
60-80BPM is, I believe, considered "normal" for most folks who aren't professional athletes. I too have a low resting heartbeat in the 50's sometimes, but my PCP (non-cardio guy) says that no cardio doc is going to get excited about that (whatever that means). I am on BB's too and if my HR drops into the low 50's I generally feel worse. I feel better if I can keep it above 60bpm. But no one seems to think this is an issue.India
juliegee
My son doesn't take BB's and his HR has been as low as 39 BPM. I've even taken him into the ER when it gets this low. He feels fine and they're not too worried about it. He's had a full work-up by a cardiologist. If your HR gets really low and you feel horrible, that's when you need medical attention.Julie
nikigrl8883
thanks for the replies ont his topic ive heard the normal resting heart rate is 60-100 obviously 100 is on the high end but thats what it can go up to...that is from reading about it online from many differnt articles... i know i checked my friends bp and heart rate one day just for fun ,,,hes normal by the way ....and his resting heart rate was about 92 and i thought that was high but he feels fine...so i thnk it varies from person to person and how they feel but i have to say the low heart rate scare me alittle
Lukkychrm42
Yes, BBs can slow down your HR a lot, including your resting HR. I have a naturally low HR at rest, and when I take BBs I have to be careful. My HR was dipping into the thirties at times, and my doc halved my dose to keep it up higher! Also, athletes tend to have lower resting HRs. For a healthy, active person, 40-60 can be very normal.
