sue1234
I'm normally very mentally alert, just have POTS that limits my physical abilities. About 10 days ago, I just started where I cannot wake up in the morning. I still get up at the same time, but then I just feel AWFUL all morning. When I get up, I take my usual thyroid meds and drink my tea. Usually an hour or so later, my heart races some from the meds and tea. Well, for the last 10 days I feel like I get up and take a sleeping pill! I have looked up a picture of my thyroid meds to make sure I received the right prescription, but they are the correct pills. I don't even get that heart racing mid morning anymore. It is like my metabolism-dial has been turned too low. This really did start after I had my thyroid meds refilled. I've been needing to do labs ordered by my endo, but I just can't function enough to dress and be driven to the lab! But, I am doing it anyway in the morning, as my husband made the point that the labs might show something. Especially since it is testing cortisol, ACTH and TSH, amongst a load of other things. I am curious if any of those are off. I have never been to the ER with my POTS, but I told my husband if I fainted after all the labwork, we're going. I feel soooo bad! I don't ever feel this bad for this long. I actually have no clue what is going on. I know we've all talked recently about having episodes of weakness, but does anyone get almost lethargic?? If so, what caused it??
icesktr189
Yes I have been that way for the past year... Its horrible ! Turns out I have severe allergies. For a long time I didnt have any symptoms of allergies except for extreme fatigue, the nasal pressure didnt kick in till later.I had no clue it could effect my pots so bad. I stoppes being able to drive, slept 18 hours a day and so on. Claratin helped but it stopped working.for me. If your tests come back normal, get allergy testing. Like I said, I had no clue how bad it could effect me. I was passing out, chest.pains, extreme dizziness and fatigue.
sue1234
Thanks, Dani. I hadn't thought about allergies, but I'll put it on my list.
lieze
I've gotten this feeling too like I'm drugged or doped up on something just not alert or with it. It makes me uncomfortable. You might check with the lab and see if they do housecalls. The lab I worked with at work mentioned they did. sue1234
Well, thank goodness, I actually woke up feeling much better than in the last 10 days, and it wasn't due to a good nights sleep! I had my labs drawn, and now it is just a waiting game.
tinkerbella
Have you been put on a med recently that causes muscle weakness and fatigue like a statin, nexium, clonidine, or the levequine family of antibiotics? Are you anemic or your iron stores low? I'm the same way they are working me up for mito. My sed rate is really high and my igg is high, iron stores low, all I want to do is nap.bellamia ~
sue1234
Bella, so far I have not been anemic, but these new labs will tell. I could imagine this feels like someone might if they were pretty anemic! Awful.
tinkerbella
The iron stores are a different test from the regular test. My pots specialist had caught this, I'm still not quite all the way up there and the doc and I were talking today about iron infusions. We were talking about a lot a lot of things.Bellamia ~
sue1234
If you are talking about ferritin, last time I tested it, it was good. About ten years ago, my ferretin got down into the teens, so had to take some iron AND eat lots more red meat. I got it up into the 70s, so was much better. At that time I had been having heavy periods.Funny, I feel way worse than back then! Back then, I was still driving and doing everything I wanted to do.I hope you get your levels up and hopefully, will give you a lift in your energy and/or abilities!
