MommytoSJEA
Thankful posted some DR's that specialize in POTS when I first posted a few days ago and there was one actually near me. Like only 20 minutes away. So I called today and I have an appointment with DR. Svetlana Blitshteyn on Jan 5! Im actually really excited. Prob one of the first times i've ever been excited to see a doctor. On a crappy side note....I called Cleveland clinic to get copies of my tests and the wanted me to PICK THEM UP! IM 4 hrs away! So we settled for faxing them to the Doc but I still have to fax them consent. Now my crappy electro's office said sure I can come pick up all my records (Dr. Blitshteyn's office said they want everything I have ever had done). I have 7 yrs of testing and junk done. So like I said they said sure you can come get it, to the tune of 75 cents a page Holy crap!! I was like do you have any clue what that would cost?!?!?!?!?!?! Shes says I'm sorry. Thats the rules. She can fax them to the new doc for free but if I want MY OWN records I have to pay for them. GRRRRRR Not happy.~Kelli
janiedelite
Yeah, that stinks. My local hospital here charges 25 cents a page for personal copies of records. Sending them to a doctor's office is free. And with all the strick HIPAA rules now, the docs aren't supposed to give you copies of outside records. But you have a good idea, trying to get your own copies. We invested in a small fax machine a couple years ago and I've found it much more convenient to just fax my own records to new doctors, as you never know if they'll get sent over correctly otherwise. Just my experience. And this way I can just bring my records with me to appointments in case the doc wants to reference a previous test result. Congrats on your upcoming appt!!! I hope you can get some of the answers you need!
lissy
Glad to hear about your upcoming appointment:) Hope it goes very well....As for the records hmmmm I got mine for free at the hospitals that performed the tests but there was something on the wall about there being a charge of $ 15.00 for 10 pages and so much after, but I wasn't charged???? They also gave me DVD copies of echo's and everything, make sure u get not just the doctors interpretation get the actual test results and reports.GoodluckLissy
flop
Dr Svetlana Blitshteyn is one of the medical advisors for DINET and is one of the two doctors interviewed in the DINET documentary. She seemed really knowledgable in the DVD. Let us know how your appointment goes.Flop

toddm1960
Hey Keli let us know how your apptointment goes, I'm in Rochester and thinking of going to see her as well. Good luck with your records, it's very tough getting everything pulled together. I have seen 28 doctors in the last 4 years ( why stay with a doctor that tells you this is all in your head ) I'm starting the process now.
