Oh boy do I know what you mean. Topamax helps. I also bought a fan battery operated that hangs around my neck and turn it on when that bast of the heat wave starts and boy does that help.

I notice feelings bring on a heat wave also. But the night sweats were soacking flood the bed then freezing cold. Worse than a normal night sweat. that's when my doc told me it was a double whammy. of disregulation of body temperture.

Got to go catch my cab for the day at the hospital.

No words of wisdom on how to relieve this symptom. I would alternate from sitting in front of a fan to wrapping myself up in a blanket. Some women at my office who suffered from menopausal hot flashes had me try putting an ice cube on my wrist for a few seconds to cool down but then that just made my cold sweats and shiverring even worse. For me, this was totally POTS-related and I found that over the years, as I've been getting better, this symptom has faded too.

Hi Tilly,

Yes, I know that many of us suffer from the hot flashes and night sweats. I can never seem to get to a comfortable temp for very long. I live in Tucson, and right now the temps are around 106, but I have to wear jeans and a sweater if I'm going to be going into any air conditioned place. So...being really hot outdoors to being extremely cold indoors. One of the many joys of POTS.

Cheers,

jana

well i was so cofused by this bc i have thyroid problems and have gone through the menopause ..... i have three sisters all older than myself .... i constantly ask them do you get this and that !!!!!

... and they never have anything to the extent that i have ... and they never have any abnormal blood for tyroid or anything .... i think i can differentiate between the menopause bc it's been so long i went through this at 45.... now 52 ..... they never had tachy ... and they are able to rush round do normal things drive work socialise and so on .....

when i go into a shop with in two miniutes i could just drop with the heat .. face red like i am about to explode .... sweating profusley i just can not stand it ... many occation i have felt i just got to get out of here walk away and leave my shopping .... bc if i can not get cool it will trigger an svt type of attach ......

but the night time is when they are cold horrible soaking drenched where does it all come from .... i asked my doctor is all of this related to the menopuse my tachycardia and all of my symptoms .... she says no my tachy is unusual ......

I really don't sweat, but I often get warm and feel as if I should be sweating, or imagining that I can feel sweat, if that makes sense. Sometimes, I can literally be too cold and too hot all at the same time. Very difficult to describe. And yes...it's very often related to being upright or something else that's causing my blood pressure to change.

Some meds actually can make this more pronounced. I've noticed more of the "I-feel-like-I-should-be-sweating" since I've been on Mestinon. It's a side effect.

I've always had a very small window of "comfort level" as far as temperatures go. If I get too hot or too cold it takes me a very long time to either cool down or warm up.

I was also told you start to sweat you your body is about to faint.

at night they found by 24 hour bp monitor I was actually about to

or near passing out like I was telling them.

When I feel it now in the day time if I'm up I sit down or lay down.

If you in menopause you sweat twice as much. Meds are helping but

there were times when I had to seep on towels and have a fan full

high blast on me.
