gertie
Yesterday was the first day in a long time I felt like running errands & accomplished a lot but today I'm exhausted. Late this afternoon I started getting a severe sore throat, one that gargling & lozenges don't touch. I must have picked up a viral inf. I have bad reaction to most meds & know that a lot of you have that problem also. I would appreciate any suggestions of OTC meds that have helped you. My PCP is out of the office until next Tue. I envy people that can take meds when they get sick. Thanks for your help.
EarthMother
I brew up a pot of water, lemon, garlic and ginger with a bit of honey. The combination has good anti-viral properties. We all use it at the first signs of cold or sore throat.I also use Zicam (zinc in the nostrils) and it seems to help when I get a bug.Good luck finding something that works for you. Also Orange juice, vitamin C, Tea's, and a humidifier all help.

ramakentesh
I rarely get colds and infections. But when I do I always start by eating a whole red pepper raw and then some garlic.
Guest tearose
I try to allow more time to heal and nap after the errands when so tired. It just takes more time to recoup after a virus than it does for regular people.
gertie
Thanks everyone. I was lucky to make it through the winter months without getting the flu or colds so I guess I shouldn't complain.
jlmahon
I rarely get viral infections but when I do, I drink plenty of tea and oj. If I get really congested, I take mucinex, as sudafed makes my heart rate speed up. I don't know how many others this happens to, but, sometimes I get a really a fever and sore throat from exhaustion. I'm not sure why. I hope you feel better. Angelika_23
Are you sure you don't have strep? When I get a sore throat nothing will touch, it is always strep throat. You may want to go to the doctor and have a rapid strep test done. You don't want to let strep throat go.Feel better,Angela
