sarct
What part of ASAP do these people not understand. I am getting worse by the day it seems. Not in just the episodes, but Trying to get through my day accomplishing the bare minimun is too much for me. My doctor put ASAP on my reports. I don't think I can make it till the end of summer. I wonder if I can call for an earlier appointment. I have been on pins and needles waiting and now I just feel like a deflated old balloon. I am so frustrated. And if they don't have anything then call back in a week to see if they've had cancellations.Unfortunately sometimes waiting 1-2 months *is* "getting in quickly", but I bet you can get something a little better. Or try a different place altogether?
Megan
I'm so sorry that you have to go through this. You should call and ask if you can get on the cancellation list. Is there a "lesser" specialist you could get into sooner while you wait?Meg
Sophia3
Sadly most all good docs have a long wait...until my doctor quit taking new patients...it was 6 month wait to get in to see him!!He is an internal med/Endocrinologist but treats my ANS. Sorry about your wait...story of our lives...waiting for tests...or seeing a new specialist...be nice to yourself and do the best you can. Rachel
Waits for the top specialists can be very long. There are many of us who are ill, and there just aren't enough top specialists to go around. You can try to call and see if there are cancellations, or ask to be put on a waiting list for an earlier appointment if one becomes available.I hope you get the help you need.Rachel
Mary P
When I was first referred to a Neurologist and didn't want the long wait, a son phoned to almost beg for an earlier appt and have my name put on the cancellation list. The nurse/receptionist was astounded and empathetic at the neglect I'd experienced up until then.I had never been taken seriousy by my MD and spent most of my days in bed.A week later I phoned to make sure my name was on the cancellation list., and was prepared to keep calling once a week after that. The receptionist said that a cancellation can be made the day before or even the very day of an appointment and that I should be prepared to have very little notice. That was great for me. However, I have to say that the N was only an hour's drive away. Still I would have done whatever was necessary to keep an earlier appt. Within 2 days I had an appt for only one month away, not the orininal 6 months. I would never have insisted as my son did, never described my symptoms in as much detail, but was grateful for what he did for me. I wouldn't have had the energy to do/explain, etc. as he did. So, if you have a family member who can call for you, this may be as helpful as it was for me.
