  1. I disagree with you rama. There is more to life and medicine than numbers and letters. I think that having discourse over possibilities evokes a creative approach to the situation. Furthermore, doctors can sit and measure norepinephrine, NO, and angiotensin all day but, as we have seen, these quantitative data reveal little information about the cause in a manner that leads to prevention or a cure. Quantitative data is a static approach to a dynamic problem. As per classification, one would not treat a patient with lung cancer the same way that they would treat a patient with asthma. In the pots mindset, it would be: well they both have breathing problems. Tachycardia is vague and indiscriminate. The reality is that there clearly are mechanisms within each of us that are causing this that are being overlooked. Otherwise, there would be a cure by now. By offering a critique of medical behaviors, it brings to light areas to be improved upon.

  2. Okay had my first pots attack in awhile ugh. I hate them so much. Does anyone else's go like this: minding my own biz SITTING. Out of nowhere, bam adrenaline rush, feel cold all over, panic, tachycardia, presyncope, nausea. Also had a bp reading of 65/45 pulse 88 then 125/90 pulse 100 ten minutes later. 15 minutes later, emts took my bp and it was 145/100 pulse 88 ekg normal. I normally run around 106/70. Only reason I cracked and called the emt's was new and extreme radiating chest pain and overwhelming nausea. Bah! I hate this darn thing.

  3. I was just referred to a new internal medicine Dr. And he is fabulous! His name is Dr. Thomas and he works for group health in the Seattle area. My first appointment with him was almost 2 hours. Of which time was spent performing a neurological exam, reading through my medical history reports from other doctors, looking up recent scientific journal articles on pots/autonomic dysfunction, and calling Dr. Goodmans office at the mayoclinic. Literally, he poked his head out the door and said to his nurse, "can you please get Dr. Goodman on the phone for me." Any way, he got a hold of Dr. Goodmans nurse and basically discussed what tests they could do here before my trip. Today was my second appointment with him and he brought up magnesium level testing and possible supplementation. He then went on to say that he thinks it has something to do with connective tissue, and asked me what my medical experience has been like so far with disorder (while smirking). I told him that it kind of stunk as far as diagnosis. And that doctors think they have me pegged when they see a 25 year old female complaining of fainting type episodes--anxiety. We also discussed theories in pots like the nitric oxide, connective tissue, neuropathy, mast cells and autoimmune. Really great Dr.
