Visual Processing --migraine-related?

Hi,

I have a lovely new symptom, which is i sometimes have a hard time focusing my eyes. Everything bounces around and then I feel like throwing up, and feel really dizzy--like motion sickness. This can happen when reading or just looking around the room. I just taught the first class of the semester, and looking around the room at the different people, at my notes, etc felt really bad. My new migraine doc said visual paresthesias can accompany migraines- with and without head pain. I have a minor migraine ( a 2-3 out of 10?), but the visual stuff is much worse. Anyone else? the only thing that seems to help is just looking at one thing , or closing my eyes. Quickly changing my focus or looking at something moving or complex is really bad.

Me, too. It happens all of the time. Sometimes it can take a day or two before my eyes are back to normal. I also have visual disturbances (auras, flashing lights, etc...) and pressure behind the eyes before a migraine occurs. Beta blockers do a good job at preventing the pain of the migraine but doesn't stop the visual problems.

I honestly thought I was alone on this one! I get this a lot and find it horribly disorienting. I've had a migraine since august, but this symptom comes and goes....

It's weird how this symptom doesn't overlap perfectly with head pain--doesn't always precede it either. But yes. I hate it more than the pain. I hope my new preventive regime will eventually help, but I'm still at too low a dose to make a dent--250mgs keppra. I find in general that I'm overall more sensitive--to light, sound, and overly stimulating environments. (I had a mild headache on Friday, but the vision thing kept happening, with waves of intense dizziness, nausea, and weird tingling. )when it's "just pain" I feel like I'm in the same universe as "normals." When I get these other symptoms, I feel like I'm in some nightmare, psychedelic alternative zone. (I've never actually taken recreational drugs to know if it's similar.)
