Hi all, my photo of a Spicebush Swallowtail Butterfly was chosen for the butterfly page of "What's that Bug"

Skim down a few to see the black, orange, blue and white butterfly on my exotic lilies.

Nina,

that is a beautiful picture, congratulations on getting it displayed so prominently on WTB?

Many years back I developed a fear of spiders / bugs / moths (the worst are "daddy long-legs"). I still don't like to get too close but your holiday photos got me interested and I have looked through WTB. They are certainly some beautiful bugs out there and so long as they don't crawl on me, or particularly fly into my face (I really hate things that do that) I'm happy to look at them and leave them undisturbed.

Thanks Flop :)

Yesterday i was asked by a specialist in moths and butterflies if he could use one of my photos on his website -- it's of the sphinx moth that i posted here in April. I finally correctly identified it as Sphingidae Enyo Gorgon Gorgon, from the south of Mexico and the Central Americas. The site owner let me know that my photo was of a male of the species. He's looking forward to seeing if I can get photos of more species of moth and butterfly when i'm down in Mexico again.

If you're not frightened by moths, you can see my photo at the bottom of the page here:

Here are some more recent photos... a few micromoths (1cm or smaller) as well as a really nice eastern tiger swallowtail.
