Faintinggoat
Has anyone ever experienced this: I had about a 20 second period where I saw the color yellow as blue and then it ended and I haven't had it since, and have never had this experience before. I have had visual changes with my symptoms before, but those were things like spots in the vision. I am on 20mg of Propranolol 3 times a day and diagnosed with Hypovolemic POTS. Could one of those be causing it? I am going to try to get into my physician tomorrow morning, but wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this in the interim. Thanks, Fainting Goat. Confusedguy
I see yellow often and have issues at time feeling like I am waiting for my eyes to focus on objects. I'm on no meds but I'm told this is a normal symptom. An interesting side note; prior to having this symptom I got a eye exam. They asked if I had issues with blood pressure as they saw issues in my eyes that reflect high blood pressure. Never boring.
Faintinggoat
Thanks for your response. I have been a bit anxious about this, as I have never had this happen to me before. I have had high eye pressure in the past, though my pressure has been normal for the past 2 years. Things are okay now, blue is blue and yellow is yellow, but I am still going to get checked out tomorrow to make sure. I've also had issues with migraines, so idk maybe it could be related to that too.
Freaked
A trip to an ophthalmologist and neurologist might be in order. But I get weird visual stuff too. Lately I've been getting disturbances in my left eye, in one segment in particular, especially when I bend over or bear down which is pretty freaky. But apparently the back of my eye looked normal and I had a head scan in May that was basically okay. I have pain and tenderness in the left side of my head, sometimes triggered by swallowing and things, so I'm wondering if my problem is occipital neuralgia brought on by my neck/shoulder problems on that side. Faintinggoat
hmm, so it seems that at least some other people have experienced this. I was unable to get into my dr today, the scheduling is weird, you have to call at 8am for same day appointments, and waking up at 8am for this particular POTSie isn't compatible and I didn't wake up to my alarm. I'm starting to think mine might be related to my migraines. I had the visual issues yesterday, and then had a headache after. though I've never had Auras with my migraines before. Anyway, thanks for the responses
E Soskis
As it gets closer to time for a plasma exchange, I have lots of visual disturbances. The main one is a bright flashing light that streaks across my visual field - kind of like falling star streaking across the sky. I also have depth perception issues. In the evenings, my vision is so blurry that I always wonder if there is something wrong with my glasses. I wouldn't be surprised if photo/color receptors in the eyes don't occasionally fire off due to the dysautonomia........
kayjay
I don't have color issues but I do have vision issues. Mostly I'm having trouble with light. I do get auras with migraines sometimes. It's scary but I do have lots of eye issues. So far they have been temporary.
Faintinggoat
My doctors said that she believed that the visual changes were just another symptom of my POTS, so that's a bit of a relief. Its just scary when you get new symptoms, even if you are fairly certain they are part of the POTS. Thanks everyone for your responses. pink1975
I have weird visual stuff too. I see weird spots, the edges of doors wiggle. One time the whole side of my daughter's face was wiggling. I have had optical migraines where everything is wiggling and sparkly. Some days I just see sparkles. A couple times I have had black wiggling tendrils in the top of my vision. Today I thought I saw something small and blurry run by, nothing was there. I have been to an eye specialist and he said it is all POTS related, not enough blood to the brain.
