ramakentesh
My wife is friends with a woman who does makeup for weddings. We were all talking and she said how nowdays people use a liquid with caffeine in it to get rid of dark rings around people's eyes.Which got me thinking. I got some of this stuff and basically today I rubbed it all over my hands, feet and pelvis without any real plan on whether that is where i really pool or whether it would have any effect. To my utter amazement I felt better! perhaps the caffeine is able to seep into the cutaneous circulation and improve microvascular circulation? I have no idea but it (seemed) to work...

Lemons2lemonade
http://www.livestrong.com/article/79257-coffee-grinds-cellulite/Maybe it reduces leaking of fluid into surrounding tissue?
ramakentesh
if it does work yes i think that might be why. I was joking around when I tried it really. And maybe it was just random that I felt better. Ill give it a try the next few days and see what happens
issie
LOL ---you will try anything won't you? Looks like there may be some diuretic properties too. So, wonder what that has to do with things?Issie
hholmes13
Haha you are definitely creative! However it actually does work for you at least you'd have a way to get relief without any side effects.
Chaos
Just make sure you blend it in well so you don't have makeup lines. LOL
Kellysavedbygrace
At first when I read this I thought, "you've got to be kidding.". But then second thought is, "Good for you Rama! Keep trying new things and testing them.". Would love to hear your follow up report on this.
sue1234
My thinking is maybe it causes the vasoconstriction of the vessels and causes blood to move away.Hmmm...I can see me with 4 large cups of iced coffee, dipping hands and feet in them. Canadiangirl73
I wonder if anti-cellulite creams would have the same effect since caffeine is one of the main ingredients.
joyagh
along the lines of anti-cellulite creams - essential oils help a lot with circulation. I mix cedar, orange, lavender & lime into a massage lotion or oil and apply it all over. you can increase the dosage by adding extra drops of oils and use it in areas you feel pooling. most essential oils help with circulation. Especially cinnamon, rosemary, peppermint, etc.
ramakentesh
I chose caffeine because it vasoconstricts the small vessels and microcirculation in the skin.
Charlotte1
Rama - just read this thread today. Did you continue with the 'coffee' cream experimentation? what were the results?
Guest maia
caffeine is a stimulant, diuretic and vasoconstrictor and does work topically. Its in lots of things.
TCP
It sounds good although if it constricts the blood-flow, having neuropathy that would scare me a little because of the thought of the circulation swinging the other way and diminishing. I know I cannot drink anything with caffeine in it, as it upsets my whole nervous system and I cannot wear nail polish with formaldehyde in it because it stings like crazy and damages nerves. Lethargic Smiles
Rama -- I'd love to hear about your experience long term with this. I make my own lotions with all natural ingredients and have been thinking about adding caffeine to them for anti-cellulite properties. I hadn't even considered it'd help my POTS!
