Sheila1366
I was wondering if others have fibromyalgia? I have been having more all over pain lately. Also have terrible pain in my midsection due to my motiltiy disorders. Just wondering how common is all over pain with dysautonomia and is it fibro. or something else? Thanks. Guest Alex
Hi Sheila, welcome to dinet.I started experiencing pain lately - almost 1/2 year after being diagnosed with POTS. It's affecting mainly my arms, legs, upper back, but I do have days when my whole body is in pain - as if i've been in a car wreck. Chest pain is an "old friend" so that doesn't even count anymore.Sorry to hear you have the same issue as I know how frustrating and disturbing such symptoms could be.I don't have an answer for you - I mentioned my problem to my specialist and he had no comment on it.Just know you're not alone in this.Hope you'll be able to find some answers.Alex
peregrine
I've got fibromyalgia, but it far predates the dysautonomia - I'd say it started showing up in late high school/early college, but wasn't diagnosed until my first year of graduate school. For me it appears to be associated with the joint hypermobility issues. I haven't noticed any particular pain-dysautonomia association in myself, but the fibromyalgia/chronic pain-caused brain fog and the dysautonomia-caused cognitive impairment do add together, which is annoying. freelemons
My fibromyalgia (diagnosed before dysautonomia) seems to worsen and improve in cycles that are definitely tied in with the rest of my symptoms. I have some motility issues as well and I think that ties in to both too. Like peregrine, I have hypermobility and that is related to both my fibromyalgia and the stomach stuff. None of that really answers your question except to say you're not alone. All over pain may be a variety of things other than fibro though, so I would talk to your doctor about the fibromyalgia points etc.
McBlonde
During this years long process of trying to figure out what was going on, I was dx'd by a university rheumatologist with fibro back in 2003 before the POTS dx.In many ways it seems like CFS, Fibro and POTS and have many similar symptoms.
