Annaliese
http://summaries.cochrane.org/CD004022/short-term-studies-show-that-in-people-with-elevated-blood-pressure-low-salt-diets-lead-to-useful-drops-in-blood-pressure-but-overall-harms-or-benefits-are-not-knownI was wondering what long term adaptations the body makes to a high salt diet. It seems renin and aldosterone are reduced, so overall is blood volume really increased? The blood pressure changes that are talked about in the article above dont seem that impressive to me....just wondering if anyone has investigated this further than me... ramakentesh
Everytime Ive salt loaded without fail I have felt worse rather than better. I wish it helped but Ive tried it even gradually without much luck.
ramakentesh
That being said, many report that it really helps them. Maybe a sutble increase through diet would be better tolerated?
icesktr189
I only do a subtly amount like Rama said. If I over due it on salt, it makes me much worse.
fiona-jane
if i just salt load without also loading with fluids i feel awful, but with the fluids i feel so much better. i was told to eat 10-15grams of salt (sometimes do more if i'm struggling with bad symptoms) and to drink at least 3 litres of non diuretic fluids. that seems to work for me so it must increase my blood volume enough that i'm only a little hypovolemic. fi
