gertie
The last few weeks when I do my sinus rinse & gently blow my nose I get so dizzy I feel like I am going to pass out for a moment. I do have ragweed allergy & also have Meniere's but have never experienced this b/4. Would this symptom be more likely from Meniere's or dys? It seems everyday there is another strange symptom addded to my already overwhelming list. Thanks.

flop
Blowing your nose can be similar to doing the valsalva manoeuvre and cause changes in heart rate and blood pressure leading to dizziness. There was a thread on here recently about valsalva in testing for autonomic dysfunction. It is well worth looking at the Wikipedia page on this as it explains it better than I can.Hope this is helpful,Flop

daisy
Count me in too! If I sneeze or blow my nose, I feel like I am going to pass out. Like the others said, my Dr. said it is the pressure being put on the vagal nerve....

sheba
I think blowing your nose cuts off some of the circulation to the brain but I can be wrong.
jbrian00
valsalva maneuvers/coughing/sneezing sends my heart rate higher, but since I've only had to blow my nose like once in the past year or so, I can't attest to this happening while blowing nose.
