  1. This is probably my third ER visit in the past two weeks, and the first time they have decided to check my Magnesium which the doctor said is severely low. I'm about to get some via iv and he is making sure I follow up with nephrologist and endocrinologist. Me being the anxious wreck that I am, I am a wee bit concerned. Any ideas on what could cause it besides diet?

Honestly I only drink coffee to get a boost. No matter the flavor or whatever. I'm a coffee rookie, BUT since September after my 3rd faint spell, I can't tolerate much caffeine anymore. It makes me feel sick and shake. Even too large of a Coke will have me messed up. I found this out by drinking a large Coke from McDonald's. I was so sick I missed one of my doctor's appointments. Then I tested the waters again, same result. Boo.

I feel for you. I can only do one cup a day. I used to drink it all day long. If I did that now I'd die. Lol

If I eat anything spicy, I get skipped beats. Recently I get shivery and shaky before BMs. I have bad reflux and my pots started around the same time I developed a hiatus hernia. I have hiccups a lot and wonder if it's from my diaphragm being irritated by my hiatal hernia. There's definitely a vasovagal link with many dysautonomia issues, and the GI tract is often involved.

Same with the hernia and pots! Have you thought of having yours repaired?

yes my lungs are clear I have had a full body ct. You are safe dont worry.

That does make me feel a little better! Shortness of breath and the weird heart stuff are my most bothersome worrisome symptoms. I swear one my heart has no idea what it's doing. My hr fluctuates wildly. Hooked up to the monitor it showed quite a few pvcs too. But they didn't think it was anything fascinating. Lol

  5. Well two questions actually. One, is sinus Tachycardia and Tachycardia the same thing? Two, does anybody have a hard time getting rid of their tachy sometimes (ie not relieved by simply sitting down). I was in the ER for about 3 hours and my heartrate didn't go under 100. It can be pretty stubborn. And extremely finnicky as sometimes (mostly in the evenings/night) I'm bradycardic.

  6. I used to. Honestly we had a really hard time keeping them alive on three different occasions. And I have no idea why. We reaearched endlessly. Seriously. We didn't go into this like oh let's put a fish in a bowl of water. We really worked hard. Any fish 101 advice? I'd really love to have fish again, but I'd hate to be responsible for their demise.

@potsiebarbie sorry- my medical brain at work again. I get early beats that cause a big Thump and breathless feeling. What happens is that the beat happens early and then there is a pause before the next beat. Mine have been getting weirder though. Instead of the top part of the heart contracting and then the bottom, I get these weird beats where the top contracts and the bottom doesn't so I feel icky.  Hope that you can get in to see the Cardiologist sooner than later!

I have to take a decent breath when it happens. It feels weird. I get it alot with standing up and position changes. Sometimes it will happen while I'm doing nothing. I hate it. It feels like it's my heart's first day on the job and it doesn't know what it's doing. That's cool that you know what's actually going on with yours. Any treatment? Is it dangerous?

I know, it’s really hard. I struggle with it myself and I’m the one saying not to worry about it lol.

If you want, check out some of these videos from Dr. Sanjay Gupta, he’s a very good cardiologist from York here in the UK and he explains it very well and I find his videos very comforting and reassuring when I’m feeling worried.

Knowledge is power. I liked this video and watched a couple others. I did get a little reassurance from this. I feel like if doctors took the time to thoroughly explain things and "educate" us instead of just saying "you're fine, it's 'normal', lots of people have this, etc.." then we would do alot better in general.

@potsiebarbie what did your doctor think? I have done some digging because I have had some recent episodes of dizziness with a slow rate and figured out that my 'normal' bigeminal (every other) Premature Atrial beats are non-conducted, which is making my intrinsic rate about 36-40! Eek! Wondering what ended up happening with you.

What does all that mean? My doc just referred me to cardio. It hasn't gone thru yet.

You aren’t babbling and even if you were I wouldnt care because it’s nice to talk to people who actually understand what I’m going thru! I’m sure it’s from the epidural.. I just wonder what it did and if it’s harmful. I will for sure let you know what my neuro says (if anything) Lol

Did you see your neuro yet?

  11. I always have trouble balancing fluids and electrolytes. My sodium always comes out a little low despite salt loading. And when I haven't been salt loading and drinking a ton of water and I feel worse than usual- it's normal. So Idk. I don't understand any of it and just want to feel better!
